I really like Jensen...great set of wheels, moves the puck well and plays with an edge. And he is RH....
-
Remember when the KHL was viewed as a threat to sign top tier NHL FA's? Now it's become professional hockey's version of Japanese baseball. Cory-san?
-
How different would this year have been if Franzen's money went to Hossa and Weiss' money went to Fil?
-
He's kinda fallen in love with that slapper....he starts winding up when he hits the blue line. He had a ton of them blocked in the past two games
-
You have three RH Dmen at GR...they drafted at least one a year ago. Not sure about Toledo or guys they drafted playing in college or Toledo
-
Kevin Bieksa....he's a RH guy with an all around game and he can mix it up too. That's the Vancouver DMan I would want.

Watched the Griffs game online last night. They're announcers said Kenny had told them if the Griffs are still paying when Val D'ors is done Mantha will be sent to the GR Athanasiou and Backman are going to be good ones. I've also been impressed by RH Dman Nick Jensen

Your predictions for the roster heading into the offseason.

In my perfect world we boot Franzy the Panzy and throw three years at 20mil at Iginla so he can meet his stated goal of playing to 40. We waive bye bye to Legwand, and the rest of the FA including Alfie. We then have these lines 40-13-Iginla 14-15-21 90--43-8 41-18-20 Quincey walks, Lashoff gets dealt we promote Marchenko and Oulett and Kindl sits in the pressbox. We then have defense pairings that are: 55-2 65-Marchenko 52-Oulett Be great if we can also dump Kindl..the we can elevate Sproul and have a 2nd RH Dman. But...since the Franzen's gonna stay, he can center the 4th line and show us how committed to defense he really is and Andersson becomes an extra forward -
Didn't say big equals unskilled...I said "fighters" in today's NHL are basically numbskulls with little skill. And that's largely by design. I don't define "tough" as fighting. I think tough is winning the battles in the corners and between the dots. How many shots did we take from the left point? How many shots did Boston take between the dots? They got there by being stronger and paying the price. That's what irritates me the most about Franzen. the big Mule...230 or so lbs and he plays like a 185 lb guy from France.

You risk losing players at the end of the contract when you trade for them. The Preds knew the terms of Jarnkrok's deal when they made the deal. Ift there were whispers about his intentions to return to Sweden loud enough to reach the media...I'm sure Nashville probably heard them too. .
-
Franzen isn't a $4 million consistent scorer....that's the point. He's so inconsistent in terms of his effort and output that he becomes a detriment to the team for long stretches. Dump him let every other UFA walk and make every effort to sign Iginla...or Stasny...hell, I'd even let Teemu Pulkinnen have a crack at Franzen's spot before I'd bring Sweden's answer to Prince Fielder back for another year of frustration and "what me worry" attitude when the team is getting drilled
-
Jarnkrok is a nice prospect...but how many years in a row do you have to be told "get stronger" before the people telling you that start to wonder if you can?
-
Our 4th line played really well yesterday...really well. As a part of the normal flow of the game, fighting is gone...forget about it. If you want to waste a roster spot on some 6-5 250lb numbskull who's going to square off with the other team's numbskull, go ahead. That isn't going to effect the outcome of the game.
-
Hockey isn't purely an exercise in statistics...you can't look at Franzen and say "he got us 41 pts...OK" You have to look at the actual games. He's shown NOTHING in the playoffs the last few years and his production in a major portion of the regular season was equally poor. You simply cannot have a guy getting top six minutes sleepwalk through the majority of your games.. Send a message to the team about consistency of effort and dump him now...
-
Negotiating in bad faith? Huh? How would you prove we knew about some secret desire jarnkrok had to go to Sweden and we prevented the Preds from hearing about it when it was discussed in the news at the time of the trade?
-
Trade Abby? He played a man's game against the Bruins..he was finishing checks and crashing the cage all series. I wouldn't trade him.....I'd be willing to let Alfie and Legwand walk if ti meant that we could sign Iginla. Keep Abby on the third line with Helm and Weiss and roll 40-13-Iginla as the top line with 14-15-21 as your third unit. Buy out Franzen, Quincey walks (hate to see him go actually) and you bring up 2-3 kids to replace Lashoff and Kindl and Q and we're looking good. I'd go with Oulett, Marchenko (RH shot!!) and Almquist as my 5-6-7 defensemen and start printing playoff tickets in October.
-
Has Lashoff ever made a pass that went tape to tape? I would add Janmark, Nestrasil and Pulks to that list of guys who are going to contribute. I've watched a number fo Griffins games online the past month or so and I'm impressed by the strides Nestrasil has made over the past couple of years from when I first saw him playing for Toledo.
-
I think we're close defensively. Brendan Smith took a huge step forward this past series playing with Kronwall. The Bruins baited him a lot and other than that incident with Chara, he kept his emotions in check and played hockey. Loved that play he made taking Marchand to the outside and then running him into the cage. Kronwall, Smith, Ericcson and DeKeyser is a workable top four. So..out of a pool of Almquist, Sproul, Marchenko, Oulett, Jensen and (someday )Nedomlel, you need a couple of guys to step up to form that third pairing. I like what Quincey has done over the second half of the season and the playoffs...he's not a huge hitter, but he understands positioning and leverage around the cage...but I think he's going to be too expensive to re-sign.
-
Felt bad for the Heat last night....they're getting kicked out of town by the arena authority (next stop, Glens Fals, NY?) so there were like a dozen people there for what was most likely the last home game ever. Griffs looked amazing...do not sleep on Andej Nestrasil. It took him a couple of years to develop, but he has a very nice game between the dots. I'm not sweating the Jarnkrok trade nearly as much having seen Janmark play a game or two. He's, bigger and he has some skills...he made a very nice move tot he cage to set up Parkes on that first goal last night.
-
I'm watching GR online right ow...with Janmark, Pulks, Atahnasiou, Sproul, Nestrasil, Jensen, Mrazek...we have some really talented kids. Nestrasil has really picked it up and oh...Janmark just mad a great drive to the net and feed for a goal....I have zero problem with giving Marchenko, Almquist, Sproul and Oulett a chance next fall to unseat that abysmal 3rd defense pairing we rolled out against the Bruins
-
Are we over-ripening the kids until they rot on the farm or are we counting on them too soon? I'm getting confused.....
-
If we're trading for a Vancouver Dman...I'll take Bieksa. But I'm also a BGSU alum, so I might be biased. Our PP has struggled and we lack a decent puck ,moving Dman...I'd much rather see if Almquist can play 3rd pairing 5-5 and PP for us than spend major $$$$ or assets on high end defenseman when we have a number of really good prospects in the pipeline
-
Tatar is 40 lbs lighter and plays "heavier" on the puck than this big sack of marshmallows. Buy him out and put him in the rearview.
-
Jarnkrok was not our best prospect...Mantha is our best prospect.
-
Yep...totally worth it.
