Nice post...... What Dallas gave up wasn't that bad, and they didnt have to part with Fistric. Not sure if Turco is enough to take them far or not, and with Zubov having surgery not long ago, all this talk of Dallas being the latest Cup Contender is not a given. They improved immensely, but Zubov being out is as critical as Lidstrom being out for the Wings. No Im not saying Zubov is equal to Lids either.....But he is a top tier # 1 defenseman.

plus/minus is not a good description of a player, that stat is accumulated from goals scored when youre on the ice - it could be your teammate that blows his assignment and you're still penalized for that. It's rare that teams trade within their own division - especially to the team they all hate. Chelios was the exception years ago because Bill Wirtz wanted to punish Chelios by sending him to a team that he was said to have hated. Im sure that the price was more for Holland than it was for another team. This kid Columbus got for Feds is a good prospect, he's still at Notre Dame but he's pretty good. Columbus may have gotten the better of the deal. Columbus did well in the Foote trade also, getting a 1st rounder plus the conditional pick if he resigns with the Avs, I think they did well in that aspect.

How do you prove an opinion wrong? Just like when one of your friends makes a prediction and its wrong, and you don't let them forget about it. Think about it. Those guys are paid to get noticed, and its the in thing for media guys to continually jump on wagons. Take it with a grain of salt. When the Wings get healthy and start winning again, their opinions will once again change.

Not sure what some of you people are thinking when you already pronounce Filppula as a bad player... Filppula is a good YOUNG player and he shows flashes of his potential, he's a much larger offensive threat now than he was a year ago; I'm sure his name was mentioned in every offer the Wings had going as what something the other teams wanted in return. You can't just trade off all your assets year after year, but some of the people that go nuts on this board don't seem to realize that, they think that prospects grow on trees and would deal them off for ex players who are at the end of the line just because of whatever affections they may carry. I'm glad that Holland didn't trade him (Filppula) at this point.
