Hudler playing in his own end is a joke. You'll argue it until you fall over I know..... You used to make arguments for Lebda I recall....
-
Not every choice Holland makes is the correct one.....You can have physical type players in a lineup without having someone take a 5 minute major, but having the tough guy in the lineup will give your skilled players more room. The Grind Line so far is a joke, they are getting burned against the other teams top lines.. Teams are taking liberties with Datsyuk, and I even noticed Thornton take a run at Lidstrom. There are checks on players and there are runs at players, Pronger tries to run EVERYONE...

The Grind Line has been more like the Kind Line, because they aren't doing anything close to resembling grinding. McCarty is washed up, and Maltby has been non existant. There is a difference in allowing someone like Yzerman to decide when it's over, and someone like McCarty. I'm willing to add Chelios to that list as well, but even at age 45 he's more effective than Lebda / Lilja. They need to put Filppula on the line with Zetterberg also instead of Hudler.

Most of the opinions on this site are based on what they read someone else post, rather than actually watch someone play without the red glasses on. Most of the opinions on Quincey were from what someone read on here, and based on a couple of bad plays in a preseason game.. Its not just Quincey that gets the opinions like described above, but there are many here who think Holland does no wrong (most of his decisions are for the best, but this one he may have dropped the ball).... I also dont agree with the reluctance to work in some of the younger players like Ericsson or Leino, because of this allegiance to washed up McCarty or telling Chelios its time to go. Leino would be playing on most NHL teams, along with Ericsson....

Not really, he had a couple of bad things go on in the pre season games, and the Wings management was happy with his play at Grand Rapids. He just was let go because Meech can play forward... Quincey is better than Lebda, unfortunate for the Wings he gets to show it elsewhere. Lebda's days as a full time player are numbered

This isn't a slump, its gone on for a couple of years now. He just is paired with another pilon who isn't very good in his own right...
-
Ive caught so much heat on this site from saying for so long that Lebda is garbage....I think Chelios being paired with Lebda was part of why it wasn't so obvious....
-
thank you.....couldnt have said it better myself

Honestly, Quincey never had a chance to stick with Detroit... 99% of the people on here who say he stinks, either go by one or two plays in a preseason game, or they just base their opinions on what others within this site have to say... Quincey did nothing to embarass himself nor the Wings with his performance during the playoffs 2 seasons ago, when Kronwall and Schneider went down with injuries, the kid was praised by both Ken Holland, and Babcock. His performance in LA is not surprising, he is finally getting a chance and by the numbers 1 goal and 1 assist, and playing well over 20 minutes per night so far, seems to be a good start for the guy... I would prefer Meech in on a daily basis over Lebda , but we wont get that, I guess Lebda has compromising pics of someone in the front office or something...

I was ticked off at the flying elbow by Tkachuk on Franzen with no call.. Elbow was very high. (Someone floored Tkachuk in the 3rd, so there was payback)

MLSE would get to rent the ACC to the new team....theres your payout you spoke of....

Holland's stance on Enforcers: Once and For All
2probert4 replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
Probert cleared a path for Stevie to score, and it was a different game back then... Downey wouldn't hurt the lineup that much, his line gets a few minutes a night at best....The way Bowman used to do it was if Grimson or McCarty screwed up, they sat the bench and others took turns filling that spot during the game. I am surprised that Downey didn't go somewhere and work on his skating / puckhandling during the offseason though, I figured he would have realized that he would need to be more productive to keep a spot on this team. -

Went to the finals vs New Jersey, thats all...... -
Most of his bad losses were with Chicago, when he was well past his prime. During his hey-day if he lost a fight, it made the news not just in Detroit but across the hockey world... Thats how rare it was.
-
dont forget the insane number of NBA games that they force down everyones throat.

I heard that the only reason it was Quincey was because Meech can play both forward and defenseman. Oh yeah by the way, here's the report from Quinceys first game in LA... quoted from the Free Press.. Meech won a battle with Kyle Quincey for the Red Wings' last roster spot on defense, but it was Quincey who played first this season. Quincey, picked up off waivers by the Los Angeles Kings, made his debut Friday in a 4-3 overtime victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. He assisted on the tying goal that forced overtime, made three hits and blocked two shots in 21:43. Yeah he stinks.....sure he does

Maybe try watching other teams besides Detroit ?????
-
I agree with you that he's not very good at all, but be careful, someone will ask you for video proof of Lilja making mistakes....Lilja doesnt fight that often, he tends to drop the mitts and hug someone. He was resigned because Holland went into panic mode when Brad Stuart wasnt calling at midnight of the first FA signing day, saying he'll take less to stay around...

anyone else see Satellite Hotstove on HNIC last night?

Once again people forget the Lidstrom rule of salary.... Lids took less money to stay with Detroit, but nobody makes more than Nick, thats why Hossa was signed for 7.45 mill. They could however stagger some of the money down the line of Zetts deal, provided Lidstrom retires somewhere down the line (That thought scares me) -
if he somehow passes waivers today, his money will not count vs the Wings cap. Thats the purpose of waiving him was to create cap space...He would be at GR
-
Ive made similar posts about Quincey, and all I get are people who want links with examples of Lebda and Lilja stinking up the joint, and most of the people on here think Quincey is bad because theyve seen him play once where he turned over the puck or something in a game, but they turn the blind eye to the 07 playoffs or they weren't Wings fans yet and didnt watch...Just because he was waived doesnt mean he was the worst, he was just the odd man out with the Wings inability to tell Chelios that it's time to move on. Chelios has already hinted that if he is not playing very much he may ask to be moved......
-
Apparently he knew something, Quincey was shopped but who trades for a player they can get on waivers ?
-
Its amazing how many people on here rip this kid saying hes not good, but 99.9% of them have only seen him play once.... Why will a team give a pick for him when they know Detroit has to dump someone to make cap room. Common sense people, so Holland ended up just letting him go. Somebody got a good young prospect for their team.
-
It will take what you posted and McCarty getting his brains beaten in 5 or 6 times to make them think. They rate DMac ahead of Downey as well, and im not sure where that comes from. Im sure I'll get flamed from the locals for daring to say DMac is not the fighter / player that he once was.. but whatever.

Quincey has more trade value than Lilja and or Lebda.....He's also had some type of back injury that he's had to take a couple of injections to help with the problem. The people here at LGW make him out to be crap, but Babcock and Holland both have said time and time again he is NHL ready. He would not pass through waivers if they tried to do that. Holland going into panic mode over Stuart not resigning immediately and resigning Lilja is why they are in this dilemma of having to move someone....Meech stays because he plays forward / defense .... Don't get me wrong, Im not some sort of Quincey mark, but I would rather see these young guys play than the 2 bums that are out there in the 3rd pairing.... Most people on here see 1 or 2 games for most of these young guys then determine if they are "great" or "terrible" If Quincey were garbage, they would just cut him loose......People on here will defend Lebda and Lilja until they cost us a game or something and we'll get a post saying "we should have kept quincey"
