GGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WWWWWWWIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought it would be cool to give out tshirts like they did in Philly. Wings just give out towels with that years slogan on them. Even if the building wasn't full, and everyone there wearing red, it might LOOK full because the seats are red.

What a finish to the Canes/Devils series!!! So it's Crosby vs. Ovie in round 2.
-
Vintage Sergei. Beautiful top shelf goal. Thought he might get one earlier in the period, when he did his outside, inside move. Lundqvist was outstanding in net for the Rangers.

I heard Mickey say on WRIF last week that Vs. had a choice of 2 games this round. If that's the case, and NBC doing the weekend games, sounds like FSN with get up to 3 games. Which sucks for me, because I don't have Vs.

Dan O'Hallaran aids the Wings for once!
oldredbarnman replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
I didn't either at first, and I haven't heard it discussed here at all. But after the game, I turned on CBC, and Ron, Mike Milbury, Kelly Hrudey and P.J. Stock were discussing it. They showed Homer as he knocks the puck down out of the air. His stick is a little (not alot), above his shoulder. I'm glad it wasn't called, but it sure looks like a high stick. -

Actually, the officials helped us twice on the same play. They missed Homer's highstick as he knocked the puck out of midair (the puck was over his shoulder), and when he dove to clear it out of the zone, it should've been whistled down. So, for once, thank you O'Halloran. -
Anyone know if there is a free livestream for OHL playoff games? The OHL website offers a $6.95 game day pass.

Mark"The Bird" Fidrych was found dead by local authorities. Apparently an accident as he was working on his pickup truck. Very sad news. First Harry Kalas earlier today and now Mark. RIP to two fine people.

Season ticket holders 1st payment was due yesterday, so I would think within the next week or so, they would go on sale to the public.

Wings 5-2. On a side note, I was looking at the atdhe.net schedule for today, and the Wings game is not on there. In fact, there are no hockey games being streamed tonight. Anyone know what's up? I don't get FSN+. Any other websites?

I have been a Red Wings fan for around 40 years, and have been a season ticket holder for 22. As Wing's fans, we care so much about our team, and expect so much from them, that we get mad when games, or even certain plays or calls don't go are way. When they lose a few in a row, the blame is thrown around at everything, and everyone. The team has struggled, and still with a record most teams would die for, alot this year. Even some of the games we've won, have been hard. Personally, I don't know where we'd be without Marian Hossa. With that said, we should be very thankful for the success this team and organization have had over the years. I know the passion the people on this website have for OUR team. Now imagine having that passion and being a Blackhawks, Bruins, or Flyers fan, just to give an example. The Blackhawks last won the cup in 1961. They've been in 4 finals since then, 1965-71-73-92. The Bruins have lost their last 5 appearances; 1974-77-78-88-90. They last won in 1972. The Flyers have also lost their last 5 since winning in 1975. 1976-80-85-87-97. Losing in 1995 was tough, but thank goodness we've won our last 4 times, so you don't even think of '95 at all. I can't imagine the heartbreak of losing each time you are at the cusp of a championship. It's always nice to have your last time there a winner, so even if you don't make it for awhile, you have fond memories of it. I guess I'm just saying, be grateful for what we have. We aren't going to win every game, or every cup, but we are the model that every other NHL franchise wants to be, and we are the reigning Stanley Cup Champions.

They're getting close, 24 Cups, 15 numbers retired.
-
I don't believe that the 4 players mentioned should have their numbers retired, but I think it would be nice if they were honoured like Toronto does. The Leafs only have 2 numbers retired, while some other great players, mostly HHOFers, have had a banner raised, but their number is still issued. So you still see the numbers 9, 10, 14, 27, and I'm sure others that are still worn. That way we could bring back Shanny, Sergei, Igor, and Ozzie down the road, and give them a nice ceremony for what they did as Red Wings. I would retire Nick's number though.

Heading down myself tonight. Grab me a Winter Classic team poster, and watch the boys put a 5 spot on the Wild. 5-2- GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ken and Mick are the best.( If Ken ever left, I'd want Chris Cuthbert. Always liked him.) We are blessed with not only a great team, but top notch announcers who know the game. Sure Mickey may complain, but I understand where he's coming from, and he does it for the opposing team as well. My only complaint is when Mick uses the telestrater for replays on goals. That blue marker covers everything up. Hate that. Murph has improved, but he's better when he's breaking down plays during internission. He's not so good on goal replays. Mickey is the best at that. I remember how bad Doug Brown was, when he had his "tryout" to replace Mick on the road. Every goal was the same. "There it is." Drove me nuts. Pat Verbeek was good, and Shawn Burr too. Can't..........stand..........Keating...........not....funny......at all.

That's what I usually do. Unfortunately, with digital cable, there's always a delay from one to the other. Ken Kal will announce, "Datsyuk SCORES!!!", and the play will just be coming out of the Wings zone. As for NBC- I could do without Mike Emrick. Nice guy and all, but he seems to do more talking than play by play. I'd rather have Dave Strader on the national telecasts. I have no use whatsoever for "Edzo" and Pierre. Guess I've been spoiled for way too long with Budd Lynch, Bruce Martyn, Sid Abel, Ken Daniels, Mickey Redmond, Ken Kal and Paul Woods.

If the Wings DO win the Cup again this year: The fans cheer as the Cup is brought out to center ice at the Joe, Bettman comes out as the crowd chants VERY loudly, "A****le, A****le", so loud they drown him out, Bettman stammers into to the mike for Nick to come get the Cup, Nick skates over, and without even acknowledging him, grabs the Cup, puts it over his head, and skates around the ice, then hands it to Pav. (I know Nick has way too much class for that, but that is my dream scenario)

Bettman suspends Lidstrom, Datsyuk 1-game each
oldredbarnman replied to Reds4Life's topic in General
I know I've come aboard kinda late here, but if the league wants a Red Wing rep, why not have Cheli go? Which is what I thought would've been a nice gesture to begin with. The league has honored players in the past, i.e Gordie Howe in Detroit in 1980, so why not invite Cheli back to Montreal where he started his career. Detroit has an All Star, Cheli plays one more ASG, and cry baby Bettman can go back to sucking on his bottle. -
The last game I was at, the 4-0 win against the Hawks, he had a remote control plane he was flying over the crowd. Must have been a Christmas present.

You might try googling Red Wing For'em Club. They are, I believe, the oldest fan club in the NHL. Founded in the 1950s, they used to do road trips. Not sure if they still do. There was also a weekender travel group that I went on in Jan. 2000. For around $1,000, we flew from Windsor to Toronto, then on to Calgary. From there we took a bus to Edmonton. Saw a game against the Oilers, stayed the night, then went to Banff for another day and night. In Banff my buddy and I went dogsledding. The next day, went back to Calgary, saw a game in the Saddledome. We then flew to Vancouver, stayed there three nights, and saw the Wings/Canucks. In the Calgary airport, I met Randy Bachman, who was going home after a benefit concert in TO. I would lve to do that trip again. The Wings went 0-1-2(ties), but still a great time. Banff was awesome.
