MLive: Forsberg talk heats up, deal "in days"?
Henkka replied to Howe's Bony Elbow's topic in General
I'm for Foppa, if Lang leaves. We should also try to pursue Guerin or Gelinas. -
Nice discussion. I agree the most. I think Schneider is gone, because we have Lidström, Kronwall and Lebda as puckmoving guys. We just need to get one stay-at-home guy there. Lidström - Kronwall Lebda - Markov Quincey - Chelios Lilja (still signed, trade as possible) Kindl to AHL and up, if puckmoving defenceman gets injured. Use Lilja, if defensive d-man gets injured. Then we save Schneiders big salary and get some younger core there. The defence is less skilled, but the we can pursue the saved money to offence. Maltby gone for sure. Homer has been speking about returning to Sweden, but I think he won't do that yet. He's just too good to leave NHL. Maybe Datsyuk is gone and maybe Lang. We have Zetta, Filppula and Draper then at center core. The MAIN ACQUISITION then is right handed, big sized, good skatin center. The best choise could be Chris Drury, even he isn't big. Then add big gritty winger. Bertuzzi maybe, if not getting him this season already. But try to sign Shane Doan first. Bertuzzi - Zetterberg - Samuelsson Cleary - Drury - Holmström Hudler - Filppula - Grigorenko Franzen - Draper - Kopecky WIlliams (still signed, trade if possible) The cap rises few millions and saving Schneider's Datsyuk's and Lang's salaries, this is possible. I hope Hasek continues to play well and cheap and stays healthy.

Too bad we had to buy him out at 2004. He has been awesome in the new NHL, which rules fit him perfectly. And he is really talented right handed winger, which we mostly lack.
-
Has Nick´s only injuries been at the 94-95 lockout season (2 games) and 96-97 season (3 games) ? I think all the other missing 12 games have been just resting. Lidström has played 1152 games about 1169 available and 174 playoff games about 174 available. This is just crazy, he's more worth than his current salary has ever been.
-
I'm still happy when Fedex left. His mega-priced-contract would have blown our team in this new salary cap system. I'm very happy that we have Lang, who is 50% cheaper and at the moment plays lot more better.
-
I want him. I just want somebody here who is big, physical, and can do something with the puck (1st priority) and will also break some necks (2nd priority), if sombody will hurt our star players (Zetta or Dats). Just like he protected Näslund. Williams/Hudler + 1st pick <> Bertuzzi Roster at the playoffs: Bertuzzi - Datsyuk - Samuelsson Holmström - Zetterberg - Lang Franzen - Draper - Maltby Kopecky - Filppula - Hudler/Williams
-
Has Nick ever been injured? I mean, been out of the lineup because of an injury? I know Scotty took him out from lineup just for some rest when the standings seed was secure and that's why he doesn't have any consecutive games records.

Yeah, Lilja over Hatcher. But I still like his makeup.

Probable Red Wings core at 2010. Of course the will be trades and so but, these guys would be there: Wings 2010 (Player, age at 2010, handness) Franzen (30-L) - Zetterberg (29-L) - Samuelsson (33-R) Cleary (31-L) - Datsyuk (31-L) - Grigorenko (27-L) Hudler (26-L) - Filppula (26-L) - Kopecky (28-L) Helm (23-L) - Draper (38-L) - Abdelkader (23-L) Mursak (22-R) - Emmerton (21-L) - Williams (29-R) Lidström (39-L) - Markov (33-L) Lebda (28-L) - Kronwall (29-L) Kindl (23-L) - Ericsson (26-L) Quincey (24-L) - Meech (25-L) Howard (26) Liv (29) The Handness thing is quite bad. Only right-handed prospect is Jan Mursak.
-
I'd like to have Guerin, because he is very good right handed shooter. Tkachuck as left-hander wouldn't fit as well to our team.
-
Yes. It's AHL rule.

So, there has been lots of movement this summer. Some kids are going up to Detroit any many other players has left the team. Does anyone know how Griffins players are contracted at the moment. I'd like to have every information to this topic. I've serched some data from AHL.com, redwingscentral.com and from the Griffins website. This is what I got. Last season the team was quite this: Hudler Filppula Bootland McDonell MacLean Kopecky DiCasmirro Manlow Ellis Keller Himelfarb Oulahen Helmer Virtue (Lebda) Wilson Meech Quincey Martens Amadio Richards Dicasmirro - Ellis - MacLean Kopecky - Filppula - Bootland Hudler - Manlow - McDonell Oulahen - Himelfarb - Keller Meech - Helmer Lebda - Quincey Wilson - Virtue Howard MacDonald McIntyre So, Dicasmirro left to Boston, Maclean and Helmer left to Phoenix, Manlow left to Hamilton (Edmonton), Wilson left to Anaheim and Travis Richards retired. Kopecky, Hudler, Bootland and Lebda are going to Detroit. 10 players are gone so far. THe Giffins website shows only these guys signed for 2006-07 season: Ellis Filppula Himelfarb Oulahen Meech Quincey Howard MacDonald McIntyre But there has been also other signings. The new faces so far has been Stefan Liv for the goaltending, Jonathan Ericsson, Dan Smith and Brad Norton for the defence (can play also as a wing), Matt Hussey and Evan McGrath for the offence. Jakub Kindl can't play AHL this season, he has to be at juniors one more year. So what we have: (Ellis?) - Hussey - XXX XXX - Filppula - XXX XXX - McGrath - (McDonell?) Oulahen - Himelfarb - (Keller?) Just five forwards signed, so there's lot of holes to fill. Smith - Quincey Meech - Ericsson Norton - (Virtue?) (Martens?) (Amadio?) There's five defencemen signed, so the situation is lot better than in offence. Howard Liv MacDonald? McIntyre? The goaltendind situation is crazy. If the Wings will acquire 1st goaltender and Howard/Liv won't split the 2nd goalie duty in Detroit, there's just too many men. Can both MacDonald and McIntyre be send to Toledo or do we just let one of them (or maybe both) go? It would more than nice if every Griffins information would be inserted here. Lines, contracts, movement, everything.
-
So, which have been the line combinations in last games?
-
I think there isn't many goaltenders who are a big improvement comparing to Niittymäki. You saw how awesome he was at the Olympics behind a REAL defence. No one is great behind the Flyers-defence at the moment. But if not Liv, how about Larsson...? Keeping Howard is a lock.
-
Put Lebda and Liv there. Some speed to their defence and prospective goaltending. That wouldn't be enough, so put Datsyuk there to complete the trade: Gagne + 2nd <> Datsyuk + Lebda + Liv Gagne - Zetterberg - Samuelsson Franzen - Lang - Williams Holmström - Filppula - Hudler/Kopecky Maltby - Draper - Cleary
-
Yes. If the Wings doesn't sign him at next summer, he'll be lost forever.
-
He is going to coach, not play.
-
If we offer 3.9 the devils couid not answer to that offer. And we would lose 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks.
-
He has sucked at the prospect training camp. He needs time.
-
Dumont - Zetterberg - Samuelsson Perezhogin - Datsyuk - Williams Maltby - Draper - Cleary Franzen - Johnson - Holmström Hmm... maybe.. maybe not. Where should we put Hudler and Kopecky?
-
If Eklund says Carter is coming to Wings, he will surely end up to Toronto.
-
No, Filppula will at Grand Rapids as long as there's lots of injurues on the Wings roster. In Detroit, there's no spot for him, and we can't send Hulder, Kopecky or Bootland down to make room for him because we'd lose them on waivers. This is just a fact that keeps Filppula at Griffins. And it's also obviously better for to play at 1st line minutes at AHL, than be some 13th or 14th Wings forward at the crowd.
-
Josh Langfeld signed. Another right winger and very good to AHL-level. I think he'll be on the first line.
-
Lidas is buffing Jönsson here, and I think he's our man. Lidström-Jönsson is be a LOT BETTER 1st pairing than the other 31-year old swede there. Markov isn't just coming here.
-
Brendan Brooks signed. Right winger and exactly what they needed.
