As long as Hank keeps stepping up the way he has been and producing, I'll feel better about losing Dats for a couple weeks...
-
The bottom three are mostly fill-ins that make it dollar for dollar, so I have no problem looking elsewhere on them, except that Konopka is apparently a freak on the face-off. Was something like Top 5 in won face-offs at one point late in the season, I believe.

If Lids takes a $1M or more pay cut to stay on another year, buying out Hudler's remaining year makes this work: 3.00M Hudler ( C ) 1.25M Ericsson ( D ) 0.75M Salei ( D ) 1.25M Modano ( C ) 1.10M Osgood ( G ) 1.25M Draper ( C ) $8.60M Cap space cleared 3.25M Wisniewski ( D ) 0.85M Kindl ( D ) 2.40M Laich ( C ) 0.60M Konopka ( C ) 0.70M Tatar ( C ) 0.80M McCollum ( G ) TOTAL: $8.60M* Just thought I'd throw something together to add to the talks. *Numbers are rounded off at the ten-thousands, so not 100% exact, but very close.

I don't see it on the front page, so I can safely assume a thread for this does not yet exist. If you love the curly fry and want to see it brought back as the Red Wings's hat-trick treat, then get yourself over to Fox Sports Detroit and DO THE RIGHT THING! Vote Curly Fries: because a vote for roast beef is a vote for the terrorists. http://www.foxsportsdetroit.com/pages/landing_shock?blockID=364695 #OperationCurlyFries

Then why is it not like an announcement or something, this is important people!! We're losing ground so we need all the votes we can get for the Curly Fry.

Didn't see a topic about him getting picked up yet, sorry if I missed it. Found the news in this article: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AjAms3ylhtrDpDs.mKLQmWR7vLYF?slug=ap-redwings-maltby Also, here is the Lightning's article on the issue: http://lightning.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=539624

Won't be sad if Meech gets picked up, but I will miss Malts. As has been said though, his time really has come and gone--good though it has been.

Mule and Bert really do show promise together, and their combination excites me greatly. Hopefully they can bring out each other's physical edge and scoring drive.

It's just more Crosby handjobbing. I am obviously so surprised at this turn of events.

I've been preaching the need for Bert to be more physical for a looong time, so I hear you there! -

As far as Ozzie is concerned, I'm cautiously optimistic. I hope Babs tandems Jimmah and Ozzie just about equally, so Chris's previous excuse of not enough games is quashed. Then, if Ozzie still craps out through to midseason, I think it may be time to start questioning whether we want to keep him around. Yes he's got the rings, but as much of a fan of Osgood as I've been, the longer his funk lasts the more I start to wonder if 08 was his last flash of brilliance before the flame burns out. Again though, I'm not pulling any nooses tight till at least midseason. -

Not sure it's actually being covered by TV stations. None that I saw anyway. I'm not sure I'd watch it even if there was one. -

Man am I glad I kept my hopes low for this game. Soon as I saw the projected lines, I wrote this one off. -
My main concern is filling the blueline if Lilja does indeed take off. I'd rather not fill 2 of our top 7 D-Man positions with kids. Ideally, I'd like to see Kenny bring in a defenseman who could work the 2nd PP unit: Good mobility and lateral movement on the line, cannon shot. I nearly went bald from all the PP chances we were wasting with the D refusing to shoot and forcing the puck down low. Of course, most of those are already signed now...

I live in New Brunswick on the east coast, with no connections to players or the like, and I've been a Red Wings fan for 14 of my 24 years of life. I suspect I will continue to cheer for the Wings until the day I die, and convert any of my kids into Detroit fans as well.

I want to see what he can do in Traverse City with the boys before making any leaps on Ilari going right to the Wings' lineup. He'd have to outperform quite a few guys right off the bat to convince me it'd be a wise move.
-
Hehe, I meant no offense, I strictly used Moncton in the actual team sense.
-
Oh I saw this a while ago today. It's horses*** from start to finish. Ridiculous.

somehow, we need to get a scoring third line center...

We wouldn't be having this talk if Flip would turn it on the way he was supposed to. He showed very brief flashes last season, especially near the end when The Big 3 (Z-flip-Bert) really got rolling. Even then, he hasn't come on the way he was expected to. My eye is on him hard this season, and I'm not sure what I'll think of him if he just has another so-so season... -
Yeah, I know that one's more a pipe dream than anything. Fun to dream though.

IF...for whatever insane reason, we were to trade down (to get an added pick in a later round or something) I would want to see the Wings grab Kabanov. If we managed to trade up, which I doubt, I would want Brandon Gormley. Call me a homer, but I wanna see a Moncton boy playing in the Red and White.
