Sounds a lot like a goaltender. They would be fined otherwise.
-
Something really must be done about this. Neck protection should be absolutely mandatory for every player, not just goaltenders.
-
I am on your side! I'm just arguing with the people who are citing parts of Rule 78 as the reason why the goal didn't count. If it was goaltender interference, then a penalty should have been called.
-
Who initiated contact is not important with Rule 78 - a penalty is still to be called. It wasn't. One could argue that Giguere wasn't attempting to establish his position. The referee f***ed up.
-
Considering the puck was two feet to his right.. I highly doubt that.

We are in the 21st century. We have digital cameras and the man power required for quick and efficient officiating. Put referees on the ice. If they see an action they feel violates the rules, then have the play stop and the call reviewed, and appropriate penalties assessed if required. If a coach or assistant coach feels that a penalty has occurred then they may request a stop in play and have the play reviewed. Appropriate penalties assessed if required. If it is blatantly obvious that no penalty occurred and the request was made just to delay a game, then the requesting team receives a major penalty. During the game, a team of trained professionals watch the game live using all video feeds available from the arena (or even just watch the game from the press box..) and should they see a penalty, it will be assessed. Face it, the few referees can't see everything. This is an issue that needs to be fixed.

End of conversation.

Please move your eyes to the next paragraph. There was no penalty assessed on the play. The goal was waived off. The referee was not officiating the rule that you quoted, otherwise a penalty would have been called against Holmstrom.
-
Just for the sake of doing so, I will say it again. No penalty called, no goaltender interference. The goal was simply waived off.
-
Everyone defending the referees on their call fail to see that no penalty was called. The goal was not waived off because of Goaltender Interference. Please cite another rule.

Confirmed my suspicions. At the very least, Dan O'Halloran was refereeing the post season games last season.
-
Aren't these the EXACT same referees that were reffing the post season games last year? This is the biggest load of s*** I have ever seen.
-
Poor mammal. He never saw it coming
-
It shows problems we have with our team. Problems that could cost us in the post-season.
-
The problems in all of the games we lost have been consistent. Not enough defense, goalies letting in ridiculously soft goals, not enough offense, giving up two or more goal leads. It's these same problems every time we lose a game and it needs to stop. Nothing is changing. That is the problem. When we lose, it's almost always because of the same problems. Something has to change.

I appreciate the stereotyping. The Red Wings aren't playing. There is an issue here that you apparently fail to see. Did you see the last couple of games? This isn't a slump. It's s***. There is no reason we should be unable to continue playing like we did at the beginning of the season. "You can't win them all" isn't an excuse.

Way to lose another game, Dead Things. Wake the f*** up. In another news, ugly ass thing growing off Parros's face.
-
Can we at least get up a few goals before we stop playing?
-
I would hope any good athlete plays better after playing bad.
-
Lets call up Howard. And the rest of the Griffins. Hey that means D-Mac would play!
-
It's not fair to say that Hasek sucked today. He played good. The only issues I have with the game he played today, is that he let in two soft goals, and he stayed on the ice after flopping for way too long. Lidstrom and Hasek are the only guys who showed up in full today. Frankly, that is starting to piss me off. It's only fair that per the rotation, Osgood starts on Sunday. Heres to a much better game than against Los Angeles, from Osgood and the rest of the team.
-
How about two of them for giving up the lead in two games against lousy teams.
