Hahaha. Hossa talking about hunger.
-
This is no surprise. Kopecky is probably one of the main reasons Hossa came to Detroit in the first place.
-
Was the spotlight on him when we were playing against Columbus? Anaheim? Chicago? He was practically invisible for Detroit all post-season long. And I seem to remember there being a whole buzz about Hossa at the trade deadline, when he got picked up by Pittsburgh. I'm sure there was pressure there, too. And he did well in the playoffs for them. My point is that he blew it with Detroit, but it's not fair to say that there is a "pressure factor" yet. Lets wait until next year. If it happens again, then we can start calling him a choker He had a good regular season with Detroit, and a good post-season with Pittsburgh. There really isn't any way you can call him a choker or not.
-
Maybe he just wants to keep up the one-year stands trying to end up on a team that happens to win a cup. He will be the ***** of the NHL eventually
-
Oh yes, for Detroit. He choked for us. But he was one of the leading scorers last year for Pittsburgh. I was only counting his play against former teams in the playoffs, which is at a tally of one.
-
He also had 3 goals and 3 assists against Atlanta since he left, and 1 goal and 2 assists against Pittsburgh since he left. You can't say for sure that he is a playoff choker based on one series alone That said. I don't really care either way.
-
Because he totally didn't score a hat trick against Detroit while he was in Atlanta. Of course, now there is the fact that it is now a former team, but the point remains that he knows how to get it done AGAINST Detroit.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa

Hudler/Holmstrom/Sammy/Maltby/Draper aren't trying to squeeze a $6 million per year contract from Detroit coming off of a paltry post-season. -
With as little action as Osgood typically sees at his end of the ice, I wouldn't be surprised if he did...

I thought it would be interesting to plot the attendance for every Detroit home game in the 2008-2009 Season (Regular Season and Playoff Games), so... here it is. Here are the game summaries for the games which did not sellout: 1. Thursday, October 16, 2008 - 4 Vancouver 3 Detroit (http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS020053.HTM) 2. Monday, November 17, 2008 - 0 Edmonton 4 Detroit (http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS020260.HTM) 3. Monday, December 1, 2008 - 1 Anaheim 2 Detroit (http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS020352.HTM) 4. Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 5 Vancouver 6 Detroit (http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS020372.HTM) 5. Monday, December 15, 2008 - 3 Colorado 2 Detroit (http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS020444.HTM) 6. Thursday, December 18, 2008 - 0 San Jose 6 Detroit (http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS020466.HTM) 7. Saturday, December 20, 2008 - 4 Los Angeles 6 Detroit (http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS020480.HTM) 8. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 - 0 Columbus 3 Detroit (http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS020591.HTM) 9. Monday, February 2, 2009 - 3 St. Louis 4 Detroit (http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS020745.HTM) 10. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - 4 Phoenix 5 Detroit (http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS020762.HTM) 11. Thursday, April 2, 2009 - 5 St. Louis 4 Detroit (http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20082009/GS021153.HTM) I ask everyone complaining about attendance: Try selling 20,066 tickets to fans for every single home game, when your team is one of the most successful and makes the playoffs for 18 straight seasons, with sellouts at every home game for 11 straight years of that, with an economy in as much turmoil as Detroit, against (what I would consider) uninteresting teams. Jealousy is amazing, isn't it?

Darwin don't fail me now.

Except that the combined cap hit of Hudler, Samuelsson, and Holmstrom makes up only half of Hossa's cap hit. I'm going to remain neutral on the whole Hossa situation though.
-
This. Pessimism, panic, and the state of being pissed off does not make you a fairweather or bandwagon fan.
-
Well, there's one good thing to take from this. The Detroit Red Wings have just gained 20 million African fans.
-
Forgot which team you're watching? This isn't anything new.
-
3 - 1, empty net. Prove me wrong. I like the taste of crow.
-
10 more minutes until the Golden Boy gets his cup.
-
This. Who cares if Detroit won last year. It's meaningless now. Get over it. They are in Game 7 of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals. They need to win today, not last year.
-
Momentum right before the period ends is useless. Just hang on for 20 more minutes, Crosby.
-
Because we didn't totally blow the power play that we had, right? Stop blaming the referees. Detroit isn't playing with any effort.
-
If Detroit doesn't score on this Power Play, then I will have doubts about the outcome of the game. Play like it is a Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals... because it is
-
Why am I not surprised?
-
Pittsburgh clearly looks like they want it more. I'm surprised the SOG are as close as they are, considering how much time Detroit spent in their own zone.
