The WIngs just need to limit their penalties. If they can do this, and score the first goal, then they'll be fine.

No not Boston! Then, I'd have to put up with bandwagon Bruins fans. Contrary to what most people think, Boston isn't much of a hockey town. If not the Wings, then I'd want Vancouver. They're not an American team, and I wouldn't have to put up with any crap. For some reason, I'd like Montreal to go far, at least to the finals, but I don't want them to get another cup, they have too many. Ideally, I'd like a Detroit/Boston cup final with the Wings sweeping, but if that can't happen, then Vancouver/Montreal with Vancouver winning in 7.

I think Calgary's fanbase is more intimidating for the home team.

Bert had an excellent game tonight. Hopefully this is a sign for more to come.

Tootoo signed a 2 year extension earlier this season. Our line up probably won't be any different next year, unless Lidstrom is gone.

Yes, a WCSF loss would mean a terrible season. There is no such thing as a successful season in which you don't win it all. How can losing be called successful? It can't! Even when the Wings came as close as possible to winning last year, it was still an unsuccessful season; a failed season. I don't feel entitled to anything. If the Wings want to win, then they have to earn it. This goes for everything in life, not just hockey. Hockey in big business in Detroit. Failure is not an option.

Yep, no arguments here. However, no one is going to replace Lidstrom, no one. Signing Volchenkov would represent a huge shift in the style of our "D." and would be our best move should Nick hang em up. Kronwall and Rafalski would then be the offensive go-to guys. Obviously, it all depends on what Lidstrom wants to do, as it regards our free-agent situation. If Nick resigns, then I don't really see our team being any different next year, except Hudler will be in and Williams will be out.

So we're going to lose 4-3?

The Wings need more chants. The "Let's go Red Wings clap clap clapclapclap," is overdone. We need a "GO WINGS GO," or "LET'S GO WINGS." I suppose a "JIM-MEH" chant couldn't hurt.

The moves the Pistons have made are all about building for the 2010-2011 season. The 08/09-09/10 seasons are all about clearing cap space. Dumars will make big moves this summer, and the Pistons will be contending again.

How to determine the Red Wings season: Lose in WCQF = catastrophic season Lose in WCSF = terrible season Lose in WCF = bad season Lose in SCF = failed season Win Stanley Cup = SUCCESS! There is no such thing as a successful season if the Wings don't win the cup.

Detroit penalty number 96. 2 minutes for playing hockey.
-
That's unbelievable. With all the weak calls, against both the wings and the sharks, and then they don't call that.
-
Hey guys, don't worry, Williams has a good, usually reliable, backhand shoot out move...oh wait.

Pittsburgh won't have any trouble with out him. I'm still predicting a sweep, or at the very most the Pen's taking the series in 5. Meanwhile, Boston and Philly will be at war with each other, and will go 7 games. Same thing with Van/Chi. San Jose and Detroit will wear each other down, but it won't be a war like Bos/Phi and Van/Chi. The Pen's literally, couldn't ask for an easier path. My dream is that we have a final four of Detroit, Chicago, Boston, and Montreal. Original 6 represent!

Bummer... I have a German RooR from the Amsterdam Shop sitting next to me, though I haven't been using it much. I'm pretty obsessed with my other toy, the Volcano!!!
-
The double-minor non-calls seems to be a reoccurrence in game 1's.
-
Yeah, the east is pretty weak. All the "top" teams, aside from the Pens, are out. Montreal, Boston, or Philly aren't exactly powerhouse teams either. I'm expecting the Pen's in 5, and the Bos/Phi series is going to be a tossup. I can definitely see that series going 7. Chicago and Vancouver will also be a great series, possibly 7 games.

Greg Brady reports that Doan is out tonight. Apparently, he wants to play, but the coaching staff won't let him.

What if the NHL adopted a 1-16 playoff format? The top 16 teams, regardless of division or conference, make the playoff and are seeded accordingly. This would get rid of stupid things like division leaders automatically getting a top 3 seed. It would also reward teams who got the most points, regardless of conference. According to the scheme, this is what the 2010 brackets would look like. 1. Washington 2. San Jose 3. Chicago 4. Phoenix 5. Vancouver 6. New Jersey 7. Detroit 8. Pittsburgh 9. LA 10. Nashville 11. Buffalo 12. Colorado 13. Ottawa 14. Boston 15. St. Louis 16. Calgary First Round Match-ups: Washington vs. Calgary San Jose vs. St Louis Chicago vs. Boston Phoenix vs. Ottawa Vancouver vs. Colorado New Jersey vs. Buffalo Detroit vs. Nashville Pittsburgh vs. LA What do you think?

It's astonishing that the wings have only played 4 game 7's on the road. Here's to the hope that we can improve upon our game 7 record and extend the Yotes game 7 streak.

Welp...that does it. Van moves on. SJ, and Van advance.
