The Enforcer debate starts in 3...2..1.

Yay for 2010!!! Phoenix has been hot at home, as of late. Wings need to capitalize on this one. Hopefully we can take this game in regulation. These 3 point games are killing us...
Leino and Homer score and the wings win a tight one 2-1...

This is what I'm thinking...
Ryan - Stastny - Kane
Parise - Kesler - Kessel
Malone - Pavelski - Brown
Langenbrunner - Drury - Backes
Callahan
E. Johnson - Rafalski
Martin - Suter
Orpik - Komisarek
J. Johnson
Miller
Thomas
Quick

Didn't we say this about December? Some did, but this month is no doubt the most important. February and April are both short months, and March has a bunch of home games. Furthermore, in January we are playing a bunch of teams that have only a few points more than us, and most are on the road. And with the injuries it makes it all that more crucial.
I suppose though, if we are deadlocked for a playoff spot in April, then that would become the most important month. But if we look at the schedule on paper, then January is the big one.
Also, the fact that we play the Pens in their building makes for a nice treat. This game could be the most symbolically important game, at least on an emotional level. I expect some hungry red wings on this date.

Happy New Year! Can't believe 2010 is already here.
I think this is the most important month for the wings, and I think it will define our season. Look at all these road games! Hopefully we get some guys back from injuries soon and hopefully our PP will actually function how it's supposed to. To cap it all off, we get to see the Pens at their home rink.

Haha. The announcers answer my question. Last time: Vancouver did it vs Detroit, Feburary 11 1982. 4-4 tie.

I don't know if anyone is watching the Sharks and Caps game, but there's been 2 penalty shots so far. Clowe and Thornton scored on both of them. I've never seen 2 penalty shots in the same game before. So my question is, Has there ever been 2 penalty shots in the same game? If so, have both players ever scored on both attempts?

Lucic only fights guys who he knows he'll easily overmatch. Hence a spotpicker. He refuses to fight tougher guys. He's one of the most hated fighters in the league amongst hockey fight fans, just for those reasons.
I agree with this. I don't think Lucic has fought anyone that is considered a heavyweight. He always picks his spots, and usually only fights in his home rink. I don't hate Lucic per-se, but I do hate all of his little fan boys telling me how he's the reincarnation of Probert.

Lebda charges $350 from what I hear.Blasphemy!!! I paid $400!

Boston Globe is rumoring Kovalchuk wants 10 years and 100 million.
If this is the case, then there is no way he comes here.
-
I may be a bit biased, but this play will definitely be one for the decade. At least I'll remember it...
-
Samuelsson should be on the Swedish team. He may have been the whipping boy here, but he scored some clutch goals with us, especially in the playoffs. Also, he's not a bad defensive player either. I'm glad he said what he said.

Leino has been a complete bust. It's pointless to even discuss trading him though. Who would take him? I'd like to think he will live up to his potential, but it's not looking that way. He's the least physical player on the team, and that's a not a title that you'd want to have, especially on a team like the wings. Before the season, I actually thought he might be able to be a 20 goal scorer. I guess him having a really sweet first goal in his first game last year upped my expectations.
Hopefully, he can have a good second half. If his production stays as it is, then he's a waste of a roster spot.

Good to get Fil back. What do you think the lines will be?
Bert-Pav-Homer
Leino-Fil-Eaves
Draper-Helm-Miller
Maltby-Ab-May
Maybe something like that? Anyways, wings will take away 2 points from this one. I think this is the game Leino breaks out of his slump and scores, with Filppula assisting of course! Hopefully, cause he needs it. I'm also feeling a PP goal from Homer.

1st line should be:
Ovechkin-Datsyuk-Kovalchuk
That's a scary line....
-
Chara (6.5)The odds of us signing Chara are significantly less than that of signing Kovalchuk...
-
I don't see him coming here. Holland isn't going trade depth for him. We would probably lose someone like Fil and Ericsson plus a couple picks to make that happen. Anyways, I'm pretty sure he'll stay in Atlanta. Kovy will be signed for big bucks, and the Thrashers get what they want.
It would be sweet though... Imagine Franzen-Datsyuk-Kovalchuk
-
I agree with the premise of this thread. It doesn't even seem like the wings care at all when they get beat, literally or figuratively. When someone takes a shot at our players, nothing ever happens. The wings don't even know how to properly lose...
Lidstrom needs to step it up and start leading. He barely hits the net anymore. The guy hasn't even scored this year. (that one deflected goal he has hardly qualifies)
Datsyuk needs to put the puck in the net, and needs to start playing with an ounce of emotion.
Leino lives in bizzaro world. always shooting when he shouldn't and passing when he should shoot. Complete bust. I'd rather have Kopecky over him...
The rest of the team needs to step up too...

I agree. Homer is worth every penny of his contract. He gets defenseman and goaltenders off their game, and is vital to our team. If anyone is going to a game soon, then watch Holmstrom when he is on the ice. You will see how involved he is on every play, in a way that you can't see on TV.
