    I don't think Maltby would want to end his career this way. The way I see it, if he opts for surgery then he'll be back next year. Who knows though...

    Also, the club is bringing Lilja back to Detroit tonight, cutting his long-term conditioning stint one game short. Holland didn't rule out the possibility of Lilja playing Saturday night against Ottawa, but the only way that could happen is if Maltby decided by tomorrow morning to have surgery.

    The Wings are going miss the playoffs by 1 point, due to a shootout loss late in the season.

    Shootouts are bad for the game. They need to be eliminated. At the very the least they should have a 10 min OT. Ideally, you would just play until someone wins. 5 on 5. No ties. No shootout. 2 points for the win, and 0 for the loss.

    People might say that it is a problem because this could cause double OT games or something. Tough. They are pro-athletes. Do you want to win the game or not? Do you want 2 points or not?

    Eliminate the shootout. Eliminate the 3 point system. Eliminate Ties. Restore the game of hockey.

    At this point, I don't think we can make the playoffs. It seems the same excuses have been given for a while now. No one wants to admit it, but I don't believe this is our year. It's like the players, coaches, the fans, even the media are afraid to admit the situation. The wings are cursed with injuries, and cannot keep leads. Hovering around 8-10th place all season, does not bode well. It seems everyone is having a career worse season, and that the team lacks emotion and focus.

    I predict we miss the playoffs by 1 point, due to a shoot out loss. Call me crazy or pessimistic, but after blowing a 3 goal lead against LA was the defining point for me.

    Kovy would be sweet. I'd offer Abdelkader, Leino, Lebda, Ericsson, and Kindl for him, but I don't think they'd bite. ATL would be getting 5 players that could immediately play on their squad, but no top 6 forwards or top 4 D like requested.

    Here's to me being drunk by 10 AM tomorrow morning (games starts at 9:30 my time) to deal with all of the game 7 flashbacks and Crosby-thon that NBC will force on us.

    We had better ******* get some revenge, but knowing what the NBC coverage is like, I'll be too drunk to remember whether we won or not.

    Oh for sure man, NBC (Nothing But Crosby) is going to glorify that. Pierre will be Crosbys lovedoll again. I'm hoping someone gets Kronwalled a la Havlat.

    It won't be any of the above. If a new rink is going to be built then Illitch won't be paying for the rink himself. The city will have to pitch in. They will also need to have corporate sponsorship. Sorry guys, but if there is going to be a new rink then it's going to have a sponsored name. I have no idea what company would sponsor it though???

    Also, if they do build a new rink (which I'm in favor of) then I hope it's built to be the best. The wings, and the fans, deserve a world class facility, and if the proposed building isn't guaranteed to be the best in the NHL, then I'd rather them stay at the Joe.

    I could see this happening. This seems steep, but I think it's realistic. It would clear space for CHI, and Atlanta would get a King's Ransom. I don't think CHI wants to trade draft picks, but I donno. This will be cleared up soon...
