You know, I told myself when the Tigers traded Granderson that I was done with the team as long as Dombrowski was GM. I said the same thing in 2008 when Inge got shafted. And yet here I am, giddy with anticipation for baseball season. *sigh*

I'm pretty sure that competing itself is supposed to be the point for Olympians. Yes, for some athletes success or failure is judged solely on a place on a podium, and somehow for two weeks national worth becomes measured in the medal count. But we shouldn't all be that jaded.

Nice start for the US. Let's see if Canada can do the same. -

Nice response by the US. They're really carrying the play and burning the clock. -

I don't mind this with a three-goal lead in the first game. The team has had only one practice, so this is a good chance to develop some chemistry and learn on the fly against a team that shouldn't be a threat. -

Not everyone's got cable. Or a TV, for that matter. -

Speaking of which, you can really see Brian Burke's stamp on this team. Big bodies, lots of north-south hockey, driving to the next, pushing pucks deep into the zone along the boards... -

Red Wings: See? Jonas Hiller isn't the brick wall that you often make him out to be. Drive the net consistently and games against the Ducks won't always be low-scoring, tight games. -
You're forgetting that our deadline moves are Franzen, Lilja, and Holmstrom. Just like Hossa was our deadline acquisition last year. You clearly don't listen to Kenny close enough. McLovin!

This is only useful if you have cable, satellite or IPTV and it's through a provider that is in 'partnership' with NBC Olympics. Use. less. There are some links up at myP2P, but no telling yet if they'll work or be of decent quality. Apparently NBC is going to be aggressively blocking streams of things they can't be bothered to show on NBC, let alone live, to make sure as few people as possible can see it.

Wings had every chance to take a lead there.

Great intensity this period. If the Wings could just bury one.
-
I hate you, post.

That one Bert did not sell.

I know it's usually just an expression, but is the ice literally slanted to the right today? All the action is in one end.

Nice play Rafi!
-
It was a joke, but thanks.

Where's Leino?
-
I like Murph because 1.) he can never finish a sentence, and 2.) he is brutal to D-men when they blow a play. I'm sure he was a bastard to be paired with
-
Leino clearly was the entire problem with the team.
-
lol I call slop on that one.
-
That sucked. Hiller didn't.
-
The Wings have had zero traffic in front of Hiller all night. Hiller's squaring up well and is staying home on the scrambles. Small wonder the Wings have 40 shots and 1 goal.
-
That would be nice. Maybe the Wings can make up for one of the two-goal third period leads they blew last week with a comeback of their own.
-
Cheer up, folks. The Wings are leading in shots! A power play. Decline!
