Have fun you guys.

Perhaps, if Holland could have signed Hudler during the year. Holland said again and again that he couldn't sign everyone, but I think he was holding out hope he could sign Franzen and Hossa when that meant losing Hudler and Sammy. Losing Hossa meant there was money for Hudler, but not the kind of money the KHL offered him.

We Should Have Gooned it Up These Last Two Games
Third Man In replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Two bad losses for sure, but they were two games in December. You don't send messages in December. Maybe if you're the Sharks or the Hawks you think you do, but let's wait until March at least before we start the histrionics. -
Realistically, what would people rather have? The Wings sign Hossa and see Franzen roll into the Joe in a Hawks sweater? Franzen's been here his whole career, Hossa played here for one, and the Wings didn't have money for both. The Hawks were in the market for a goal scorer. Hossa already took a massive risk signing a one-year deal here. Just because a player isn't willing to take a hometown discount to sign with our beloved Red Wings doesn't mean he should get booed.

Again for money reasons, Rodney was going to be hard to keep. But he's going to set-up Fuentes in Anaheim (I lived in LA. Please don't ever, ever call them the LA Angels ) There have been a few closers who have signed elsewhere to be set-up men rather than be closers in Detroit. Are they worried about catching Todd Jones Syndrome?

Booing Hossa cheapens the boos directed at Le Turtle and Sasquatch.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...lski_quest.html Sorry but this is just funny at this point.

He leads with his elbows too.

This is quite a lot of pressure on a player who has exactly one NHL fight on his resume.
-
Not to mention the team can hardly handle a flu epidemic at the moment.
-
I was so sure this was going to read: "ya Rafalski seems quite frail,/Jakub Kindl will never fail."
-
Uh, how did this turn into a hockey v. football pissing contest? Keep this on topic, please.
-
Simple game plan: Wings need to play a lockdown 60 minutes, allow no softies, and remember who's in goal for the Hawks if they're even thinking about passing up a shot, if Huet is indeed going back-to-back.
-
Actually, there isn't. No vaccine is 100% effective, but this is particularly the case for flu vaccines as the flu virus is highly variable and mutates rapidly.

Franzen, Kronwall, Cleary, Lilju, Filppula, Williams, Ericsson, Zetteberg, Rafi. That's a non-sarcastic 9 for you.
-
McCrimmon was a defenceman. He could suit up. But the article says the Kindl will be back up if Rafi can't go.
-
That's what Rafi said.

Sorry, Edi. But there's plenty of Marty to go around.

Congrats, Fatso!

40 pts is about what Flip and Cleary are averaging with the Wings. Do you think that Abby has that much or more offensive potential? As Shoreline suggests, he's his own player. He'll hopefully develop into a scrappy and consistently good defencive player on the 3rd or 4th line that can chip in offensively from time to time. He fought some in the AHL, but he shouldn't be expected to be an enforcer. That being said, when a Toews offers you a fight, Abby's gotta take that opportunity. Edit: grammar

And here I thought that 'RWS' in your handle stood for 'Red Wings Suck'...
-
No, not until Helm starts scoring goals, anyway. Leino has the potential to be a goal scorer as he showed last year, so that's why the Wings keep giving him a chance in the hopes that he rediscovers his confidence.

I hope you're right with the second part. But as to the first (which you are definitely right about), part of the problem is that Granderson should not be a leadoff hitter. The club had been saying since 2006 that they envisioned him in the 5-hole. Yet, in 2009 he was still hitting leadoff because he was the only one in the lineup with good average and speed. A true leadoff hitter is a need the club's known about for years and hasn't done anything about, while they were busy blowing their budget and emptying their farm system acquiring redundant players like Shef, Cabrera, Willis, and Renteria. So this is another way where past mistakes forced their hand to deal Granderson now.
