Indeed.

Ok boys, it's that time again:

SportsK messed up two sweaters in a row for me. They left permanent heat marks on the arms when stitching on the numbers. I returned the first sweater, they offered to redo it, and the second came back with the exact same problem. Take it with a grain of salt since others have had good experiences.

Youngsters ditching the visors
Third Man In replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Pointing out a freak injury involving a player wearing a visor makes about as much sense as pointing out a freak injury that occurs because someone was wearing a seat belt. I understand cages and visors are annoying and restrict vision, but they prevent many, many more injuries than they cause. -
Draper might need surgery; Johan Franzen practices
Third Man In replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Really? You can be indifferent to Drapes being in the lineup, but can you really be indifferent about someone needing surgery? When you get creamed 6-0 by Florida, no one on your team is NHL-calibre -
I've never understood how introducing increasingly arbitrary ways to decide games was a step forward from calling games a tie. 4-on-4 and especially 3-on-3 overtimes try to decide games in scenarios that are uncommon during regulation play, and a shootout makes about as much sense as deciding a game by having players shoot from center ice through a hole in a cardboard cutout in front of the net. Do we really need 8 minutes of overtime and then scrape the ice and have a shootout? The current system already adds half an hour to the end of games.

Shootout wins don't count to break ties this year, and then they want to expand overtime to further reduce shootouts next year. The proposed changes sound even more absurd than the current system. We can't the league just admit the shootout was a gimmick whose time has past and get rid of it all together?

I thought the OP was looking for more middle of the lineup guys. There's a lot of all stars being named. My choice would be Mike Grier, especially in his prime. Local boy and an absolute heart and soul guy, enough skill to fit in well here, and a deep enough team around him to hide his flaws.

Oh, good. For a moment there I thought we were in trouble.

Guess we shouldn't have been so snarky when the Devils dressed 9 forwards the other night...

C'mon. He did a brilliant job using his face to break Sutton's hand.

I feel older today. Congrats Malts on a phenomenal career. Absolute pain in the ass on the ice and as nice as they come off it. A definite heart and soul guy. And always a champion--not many have the words 'four-time Stanley Cup Champion' before their names. Glad that the Wings found a place for him now that he's hung his skates up. If anyone can post a video of the PK against St Louis in 2002, I'd be much obliged.

He did very well for himself for someone the Wings didn't quite know what to do with. Kid had speed but he didn't quite know what to do with it. He's gonna tear up the old-timers circuit though

Sucky. I heard this was coming awhile ago and hoped it wouldn't come to pass. This used to be what teams in crappy markets did to Red Wings fans. Now the Red Wings are doing it to us.
