potential solution for franzen hossa problem
Third Man In replied to WingMachine91's topic in General
Dustin Penner is Miguel Cabrera on skates with none of the power. No. -
Wow. People who would take the opportunity to bash Osgood in a thread congratulating him for approaching 300 victories with the Wings 1.) obviously haven't read the bit in the forum rules where it says to keep the discussion on topic (or don't understand what that means) and 2.) are spoiled fans who don't deserve the Wings. Actually, they're no kind of fans at all.

Thanks so much for putting this on Jacqui. Next time we'll just replace the Wings with Wii hockey. It'll be more entertaining. -

Hossa is on pace for a career high in goals
Third Man In replied to Z and D for the C's topic in General
Hossa will get that career high if he stops 'diving' head first into the boards, as the Blues announcers put it. Has there been one since Fedorov and Ray Sheppard both did it (93-94 I think)? -
Not a doctor, obviously, but I've heard that, depending on the severity of the knee injury, it takes a year to feel confident and another to feel back to normal. Kopecky was really just coming into his own when he got hurt, too.

Source? In the closing seconds the Hawks and Sharks made moves while the Wings stood pat. You're right--we have the talent to compete. Let's just hope the last three games (great game against SJ, debacle against Nashville, Hossa scare and then great team effort against St. Louis) give the team the kick in the seat they need.

lol Cole sounds less than thrilled about heading back to Carolina
-
lol O'Sullivan supposedly to the Oil now...
-
Preds have been stone silent.
-
Sharkies also pick up Huskins in the deal, which gives them a good depth D-Man.
-
McLaren was playing in the minors. The move gets his salary off their books and gives him another shot at the NHL. Moen to the Sharks. Damn.
-
Sorry, Duck Guy. He's one of the Ducks I like. I thought he'd stick around, but I don't blame the Hawks for nabbing him. That give them a great defensive center.
-
Hawks picked up Pahlsson. That's a great pickup for them
-
Again, not true. A team can't be over the cap, even temporarily. If the trade's gone through, it means Calgary has done something else *already* to free up space.
-
"lost out" would perhaps be a bit strong...
-
Leafs stuck with the Gerber hot potato
-
Rangers pick up Antropov? That's the best they can do
-
Wow, I can't believe the Coyotes would deal Carcillo.
-
To be fair, there's a lot of competition to break news first. Just ask Dater.

The Fourth Period has pulled the Neil to Florida trade, FWIW
-
Sigh...yes. But I think he would have made a bigger difference to the Wings than the Sharkies.
-
Tortorella looks like he's drawing Avery a map from the Rangers' locker room to where his stall is going to be.
-
Only difference: A-Rod's on steroids. Crosby needs Midol. Otherwise the analogy holds.

I do this to myself every year. I watch TradeCentre for 6 hours, but it's like a basketball game--nothing happens until the last two minutes
