Perhaps. But the Wings were playing a hot Blues team fighting for their playoff lives. They got secondary scoring, held the opponent to 22 shots, only took 2 penalties and killed both off, went 2-7 on the PP, and got solid goaltending. Maybe "nothing special", but that sounds like a winning formula every night to me.
-
Being on the ice during a PP goal, for or against, doesn't count towards one's +/- Edit: Peleshob beat me to it.

GM speak for "sweeten the pot and it's a done deal"

I was worried the Wings would play distracted after Hossa was carted off there, and I wouldn't have blamed them. Maybe the scare was actually a wake-up call for this team to not take things for granted.
-
So proud of our boys tonight. Not so much reading into the 5 goals-for as the minimal shots against. That's the kind of effort we need every night against teams like the Blues, not just the Sharks, Hawks, and Ducks. Ozzie! Again, not reading too much into the shutout, but he was stone solid tonight. No soft goals--exactly what we need. Hossa, you'll be sore in the morning, but I hope that's all and we see you soon!
-
Come on, Kopecky--take on Janssen and complete the Gordie Howe hat trick! Edit: and yes, I'm joking. No need to get injured or give the Blues any opening to get back in the game.
-
Don't forget the rumours about Neil, Lappy, or Mayers--that could be his spot.
-
Blues have 16 shots with 11 minute left in the game. Very nice.

1.) That's true for most, but not all games on TV 2.) Not at all true for us schmucks watching CenterIce Online

If you are joking, this is the exact opposite of funny.

Man, Huddles usually buries those.

I'm sorry, but we're going to have to ask you to leave now.

The feeling doesn't have to be mutual.

Madison Square Garden. The arena has a corporation named after *it*.

I was thinking the same thing. It's rare to have this long of a break between games at this point in the season. Hope the Wings took full advantage

Plus, who wants to bring in a *Flyers* goalie for the playoffs? He'd be guaranteed to fail...
-
Not that these are more likely, but I've also heard Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Dallas as destinations for Antropov.

This thread is awesome. I can't tell if people are intentionally distorting people's posts or just not reading them. I especially like it how evidence that directly contradicts one's argument becomes proof of that argument. Except for a goalie, nothing divides a fan base like an enforcer.

Sounds like Lilja being out for a few as per the other thread is part of the rationale for calling up Ericsson.
-
Exactly. Leino and Helm have earned spots on the expanded roster come playoff time. Ericsson's played great before; now's his chance to audition for a spot this year. The Wings know what Downey brings. The only question is whether he can play the role well enough, or do the Wings make a play for Neil or Lappy.

It's baseball season! The offence will be fine. Manny's a cancer this team doesn't need. Even if the Sheff does nothing and ends up on the bench, that's still a great top 6. Hopefully Inge bounces back offensively (signs are good so far). RED, I think you'll be surprised by Laird. Not tons of power, but he's a scrappy hitter with deceptive speed--something last year's team needed more of. I think he was the Tigers' best acquisition, unless Lyon or Jackson pitch lights out. The defence should be much better. Cabrera's been making himself into a good first baseman, and Inge and Everett should be dynamite on the left side. Polanco and Granderson are outstanding. Most importantly, everyone knows where they're playing and are happy with it coming into camp. All the question marks for me are with the pitchers. If enough improve from last year, this will be a good year. That's a big if...

It's true that it's a rare player that is really intending to injure another. But certain players are certainly more reckless and careless than others, so it's no coincidence that they're much more frequently involved in situations in which someone is injured or almost injured.
-
Ask Pronger. Intent to injure can be grounds for suspension. So can fighting after a game, especially if you are seen as the instigator. And Ott's reputation with the league ain't exactly rosy.

Got a feed that works better? The Wings are losing 2-0 on this one...
