The two were related, of course. It wasn't so much dumb organization moves (at least at the GM level) so much as being hamstrung by an owner who wanted out.
-
Especially not since they play within the same division. That would be incredibly rare. And no, this isn't now-or-never for San Jose either.
-
While I don't endorse the latent homophobia of your post, you're spot on with the last part. Here's two of our smaller players in action: Hope Tootoo finds this game even 'gayer' than the last.

I saw that. I felt bad for Thomas, but that was hilarious. I've never seen a goalie sprint off the ice and down the hallway so fast.
-
Could you imagine Boston pairing Chara and Pronger? The Wings would have to send out Hudler with Drapes and Pavel so that it would be impossible for them to deliver a hit without taking an elbowing penalty.
-
This is really juvenile, but for some reason it made me laugh anyway. Oh wait...

Good!

I'm not getting involved in the fights here, but this is a nice bit of perspective. You're team isn't going to be perfect everynight. But if a bad night is a 2-1 win and you get scoring from unexpected places when the big guns are silent for one night, that's a good sign, not a bad one.
-
The Wings weren't perfect, but the Kings deserve credit tonight too. They're still going to miss the playoffs, but they've gotten a lot better this year. They look like their on track to be a playoff team next year.

I've been here long enough. It's just fun to state the obvious sometimes.
-
It's brutal in here tonight, considering the Wings are *winning*
-
Kopecky was on a line with Flip and Mule. Whenever he's been given a shot with one of the top lines (like he had earlier this year) he's made the most of it.
-
I had the same thought: Quincey: 57GP 3G 29A 32P Meech: 29GP 4P 5P

Red Wings, 7:30 start tonight, not 8:30

If it's like the Wings usually do, they'll recognize it during the game during the first commercial (now), but they'll have a ceremony sometimes soon--they don't want to plan something and then have him miss the game...
-
Maybe the Sharks pick him up. The LeTurtle experiment was such a success at getting in the Wing's head, maybe they try the same with Avery and Dallas.

I'm not sure what it's like in Philips Arena. At the Joe you can be at the top of the rink and you're still not that far from the ice. At the Staples Center, you've got three levels of luxury boxes between you and the lower bowl, so the bottom half of the upper bowl is fine, but otherwise it's nosebleed central. But usually upper bowl is fine. Lower bowl is obviously pricier but a lot of fun. If you're in the endzones, sit 10 rows up if you want to have any perspective on plays at the other end. Don't sit within three rows of the benches if you want to see a thing. Have fun!

No kidding. The Ducks really ought to deal one or the other before the deadline. The current formula isn't working, and while both are on the downsides of their careers both would be really attractive to teams that think they have a shot this year. Maybe they can get an overexuberant Boston to mortgage their future at the deadline for two months of Niedermayer or a year+ of Pronger and make them next year's Penguins...
-
I had the same thought. Pronger on the Sharks in the playoffs worries me a lot more than a 43-year-old LeTurtle.
-
Good point. To everyone's surprise, I don't think either the Pens or Ducks will be in or even near the playoffs when all is said and done. But Shero's gone in that case, so he might as well make a play for it.
-
Yeah, but shouldn't they stick to trading with contenders instead of each other?
-
Northern California wankers Geez, of all the people Anaheim should get rid of, I don't see Kunitz being one for them. He seems like he'd have a place on a retooled Ducks squad.

Nearly Ten Minutes of the Wings Playing Two Touch
Third Man In replied to titanium2's topic in General
That's a good point. Dats probably played a lot more soccer growing up than many on the team so he's more likely to make that play to begin with, but playing two-touch must keep him really sharp. Others too--remember Mule kicking the puck up from behind, over his head, and onto his stick? Sidenote: when a player's stick is slashed in half like Boyle did to Pavel last night, the league should make an exemption to the rule against kicking the puck into the net during delayed penalty. -
Exactly. I'm guessing it was the other way around: Toronto was probably 99% sure it wasn't across, but would have backed the ref if he was completely sure it was across, which he apparently wasn't. That, or Toronto had a better view than we had on TV. But I'm speculating as much as Ken and Mickey.

I dunno. I didn't see anything too egregious. Just some frustration, which is understandable. Certainly nothing in the realm of Igoonla.
