This. Come out strong like you did in game 6 in Dallas, Wings. Crash the defence, crash the net. Finish them! Go Wings! -

The last game the Wings might have gotten ahead of themselves, with the anticipation of the game, the distraction over getting tickets for friends and family, etc. Many of us got ahead of ourselves on Monday for sure. We shouldn't get ahead of ourselves again tonight. The Wings will not. With less distractions on the road and the bad taste fresh in their mouths after letting the last one slip away, the Wings will come out motivated, focused, determined, relentless. They will play the game of their lives tonight. -
Thank you all for a wonderful time!

The Wings learned in game six of the last round how to close out a persistent opponent on the road. Though they came up short, the Wings learned in game five of this round exactly what it takes to win the last game of the Cup Final. They will draw on this experience. We. Will. Win. -
GO WINGS!!!

Edit: Ok, I'm better now. Thing is, I actually like the Leafs. They are the closest thing I have to a second team. But, sorry, if RW couldn't get it done with the talent he had in SJ, he is the absolute last person the Leafs should hire to attempt to lead the team out of the woods.

Honestly NFM, if the Wings win Monday night, there will be no shortage of things to do downtown after the game. Soak it in. I'm massively jealous. Have the best of times, win or lose.

Just got back from the RWNW Party! Awesome turnout tonight--we all had an outstanding time! Zetterberg: wow. Just wow. That was an absolutely stellar third period. I am in awe.

I want to see the Wings play tonight like they did in game 6 against Dallas--crash the net hard. Large parts of the last game were good, but without enough people driving to the net (especially on the PP) the Wings weren't finishing. I hope Homer, who is a game time decision, feels good enough to go, but hopefully he sits this one out it he won't be effective. Mule and Dano need to fill in and drive to the net to create screens, deflections, and rebound attempts. Any progress on this edi? GO WINGS GO!

That was a good period until the last 4 minutes. The Wings were outshooting the Pens 9-1 and playing a perfect road game. Still, 0-1 after 1 isn't a terrible result. Kill off this penalty and get back to what you were doing, Wings, and you'll be fine. Let's Go Red Wings!

Let's Go Red Wings!  I'd love to see the refs give Therrien a bench penalty for whining this game--send him a message about how the league feels about his efforts to influence the refs and embarrass the league. And maybe hit him with a few of these: :octo: *splat* :octo: *splat*

Is this thread for real? Last year, he took the Penguins to the playoffs a year before most people thought they'd make it. This year, he turned them into serious Cup contenders at least a year before most thought they would be, and then made it to the Cup Finals. Yes, his comments the past few days have been disappointing, but no way does he lose his job after this season.

The left wing lock was basically a modified version of the trap--the left wing would stay high in the offensive end and then line up with the defence at the Wings' blue line. As others have said, eliminating the red line effectively made this system obsolete. But the Wings don't trap either (contrary to what some hockey halfwits have suggested). Instead, the forwards backcheck furiously, often with the defence actually moving up into the neutral zone or even hitting a puck carrier inside his own blue line, even when the opponent is on the power play.
