Wow. Halak had no idea where that puck was. He was looking the complete opposite way!
-
Though maybe that goal finally gets them going. Edot: lol Hatcher. Everything Montreal does right is because of you. Now the game's tied.
-
I think it's a lot more than that. This team can do absolutely nothing 5-on-5. The only reason they were in game 3 was because they scored 2 goals on the major penalty from Hatcher's boneheaded hit from behind. And then you decide to play Halat instead of the goalie who got you here. Halat's played finetoday, but I wonder what is the message that sends to the team, and to Price. Sure it could work, but it has the potential to backfire tremendously. No wonder the Habs are playing scared right now.

The Habs have nothing. I think that goal might have sealed it. The game and the series.
-
This is the Hab's fourth PP this game, and it's the thing this team does best. They have to take advantage of these.
-
and Umberger makes them pay for it. He's been big for Philly.

Koivu: leave the dump penalties to Philly
-
As a former Jack Adams winner himself he seems entitled! A bit more fight in the Habs so far in this one. Although the Flyers have had their chances too.
-
Man, Miller, you're rooting for your friend and fellow former Spartan rather than a team you don't play for and didn't draft you, even though you went in the 5th round. You're such a bastard.
-
Doesn't mean you'll be wrong, of course!
-
I'm with you OWF. Until the Habs show they want to play in this series and not just have opportunities handed to them I'm going with Biron and the Flyers.

A ruptured spleen is a scary thing. Good thing the team doctors were right on top of it. Get well, Sean. This is not meant to pick on the OP but rather the "unconscious and not breathing" inaccuracy of the article: people in general should be very wary of the NY Daily News. Not as bad as the New York Post, but it definitely has a reputation for sensationalism. This is, after all, the paper that broke the Avery prostitution scandal and then saw fit to remind readers of this in an article about Avery's hospitalization.

I think the Sharkies are done tonight. Go Habs! Not because I'm a Habs fan, but because I want to make sure I have some hockey to watch this weekend.

Out of the three 3-0 series leaders right now...
Third Man In replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Exactly. Dallas took out the defending Cup champions and now are up 3-0 on a very talented though admittedly underacheiving Sharks team without the benefit of home ice in either series or Zubov for most of the way. Ottawa would have missed the playoffs if the season was a week longer. The Rangers are underperforming like the Sharks, but aren't in the Sharks' league if both perform to potential. So no, not the Pens. The Wings are taking care of business, but Dallas has clearly had the tougher road. -
The Avs played their most consistent game of the series. They had much more of a sustained forecheck and a lot more traffic in front of the net. They looked like a desperate team (unlike, say SJ...), and they never let the Wings get out of distance. So I give them credit. Tough break losing Stastny. But the Wings took their best shot and stifled them. The game was more wide open then I thought, but I was really, really impressed with how the Wings shut the Avs down the last four minutes. ZDH's best game of the series, hands down, especially at the end of the game: 1:00 on the ice for them was 1:00 spent by Colorado chasing them around their own zone. Floppa's final line: TOI16:05 0G 0A 0+/- 4SOG and 6PIM in the second period, leading to Hank's GWG. Second coming of Christ indeed.
-
I can't wait for this one. It's been said before, but I'll say it again: full 60 minutes tonight, boys. Show some killer instinct. Kick 'em when they're down. Just use snow boots. Let's Go Red Wings!  :octo: *splat* :octo: *splat*

Great GDT aflac! But that picture of McLeod is waaaay too flattering. Is it certain that Malts is off the injured list? If so, I find it unlikely that he wouldn't be in the lineup. But he might still be day-to-day. And Babs: the second line (Flip-Mule-Sammy) has way to much going to split them up, and ZDH were much more effective in Nashville in Game 6 when they were reunited. Even with the last change, Quenneville still has to pick his poison without you spitting up Dats and Hank. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. This should be a tight one. Be smart, be patient, exploit your opportunities. Go Wings!

lol, wtf is with the Avs hat between two other Red Wings hats under "You Might Also Like..."? Unless the Fox Sports Store intends on selling some Avs hats to Wings fans for sacrificial purposes, they have no idea of their customer base and deserve none of our business...

Game saving play by Timonen there. Where was the effort from Kostitsyn there? If he dives he can get to that puck and keep it in the zone. Instead he watches it drift out as the clock runs out. The Habs were lucky to even be in that game. They were fortunate to have the 5-min PP, and they made the most of it. But they've generated very little 5-on-5 for long stretches of this series, and if they don't fix that soon they won't be around long.
-
Big opportunity missed by the Habs there. And now a too many men penalty. Huge swing.
-
Agreed. It's good to see Umberger back out there for the Flyers btw. He's having a good series, and it would be tough luck for the Flyers to lose him on what looked like a very innocent play. Edit: spelling
-
To be fair, the Habs did absolutely nothing the before Hatcher's match penalty to suggest they belong in this game. But their PP looked much better there than it did when they had a string of chances in the first period--way to finally get some presence in front of the net. Now Philly looks like their strategy is to rely on Biron to stand on his head for the final 6:30 to get the win.
-
Montreal's lucky to have stolen game 1 and not be down 3-0 after this game. I have a very hard time seeing them coming back and winning this series. They may ride the home crowd to a victory in game 5, but I don't think this series goes longer than 6. As much as I'd like to see an all-Original 6 Cup Final should the Wings make it that far, maybe I should start pulling for the Pens in the other series. A Pens-Flyers ECF would be nasty and entertaining.
-
I don't disagree, and I still find him entertaining when he's not being redundant or blatantly xenophobic.
-
Pretty much the exact same move as on the first goal, only on the other side. Looks like Price has a weak spot.
