Stoopid Bettman. I could understand the delay of game penalty (especially w/ the rats in Florida), but this goes way too far. Especially when the league uses the octopus in its promotions, and even puts What's up with the Detroit octopus on its FAQ page...

I pretty much agree with you, Yzerfan. I don't blame Marty. The only thing relevant to the discussion is what Marty and Avery do that is hockey-related, and Avery has repeatedly proven himself to be childish and classless (the BASEketball-esque taunting issue aside, who calls anyone a 'Fatso' anyway? Honestly? That's so grade school.) It's not in the same league, but many of the Red Wings in 1996 couldn't believe they shook Lemieux's hand after the series. I imagine Marty feels the same way.

Ha! I'm not gonna single anyone out. But to all of you who have trashed the Wings the past two games, who have made us endure your excessively and incessantly negative posts, who have said the team 'showed you' something that suggests their imminent failure, who have written the team off: what do you think now? (Especially now that many of you are back on the bandwagon.) This series is not over. There are things the Wings can still improve upon (especially finishing on their chances). And they have a formidable challenge to close out Nashville on their home ice. But the Wings played an outstanding game. They controlled the puck the entire game. Their defensive zone coverage was outstanding. Most of the game looked like a power play. They were the team many of us (or at least some of us) thought they would be. And despite their effort, Ellis stood on his head and Nashville was managed to score a goal and send the game to overtime. I admit I too had flashbacks to game 5 against Anaheim (which I was at). But this team proved itself by regrouping and scoring the OT winner. If you call yourselves Red Wings fans, win or lose, don't doubt this team again. P.S. - Boo-yah!

File under "worst kept secrets" Too bad he self-destructed in Ottawa; he had a great run last year. He became absolutely toxic in the dressing room though, and apart from their being better goalies, I want no part of him for that reason alone. Though there is something to be said for a guy who made a list of his teammates and scratched them off the list as he fought them in practice. What that something is, I don't know.

I'm not picking on hardcoretom21 and I basically agree with the post, but why is it that so many are thinking the Wings are in a hole? The series is tied, they lost two games on the road, they still have home ice. This is level ground, not a hole.

The joke is kinda well-worn, but I still thought it was funny. The Wings logos on the Depends were a nice touch!

Let's hope this is the Mac that shows up tonight (and gets some ice time--we didn't see much of him the last two games!)

Hopefully the Wings have more left in the tank after tonight. I'm so happy to see how far Ozzie has (deservedly) come in everyone's expectations that they are so confident in him. He's gonna play solid and give this team a boost. This is the Wings' first real test of the playoffs--the first time they really need to bear down. I have confidence they will do it. Go Wings! The Stars might have a tough time ousting Anaheim at the Ponda Center. Despite Anaheim coming out flat in their own barn in games 1 and 2, I expect a much better effort. The Rangers are in Brodeur's head. I expect this series to be over tonight.

The Flames are reminding me of the Blues of the mid-90s. Not built to advance past the first round, but sure to be a royal pain to eliminate.

To be fair, Sakic and Smyth were out most of the year. But overall I think you are right about the Avs, and they would be my preferred second round opponent if the Wings advance. I'm a bit torn because that would involve the Sharks hanging on in this series, but they would still have to play Dallas in the second round.

I just totally jinxed the Caps there with that last post. Oops, eh. I hate to say it, but I don't see the Caps coming back from this. They've looked really green these playoffs, but if they won this game their would be right in it with growing confidence. Hopefully they can extend the series back home in their lively arena!

Good! Looks like Avs and Wild might be headed for OT again. Glad to see they found their way again after that game 4 anomaly. Speaking of SJ--isn't Vs.supposed to join that game in progress? That game might be over before the Caps game at this rate. I imagine there are some really pissed off SJ and Flames fans in the US outside the Bay Area about now...

lol that's premature Duck Guy! It doesn't look good for them but no playoff series victory is ever guaranteed w/ Dallas (or Detroit for that matter...)
