WQF Game 3 (4/14) GDT: Predators 5, Red Wings 3
Third Man In replied to aflac9262's topic in General
Every extra game is a chance for someone to get injured, which is the biggest threat to this team, as we saw last year. Yes, a long rest might lead to a rusty start in a game one, but I'll take that to get everyone with nagging injuries healthy and prevent future ones. -
Mike Emrick is ok, but I'll take him over Gary Thorne any day. My friends used to get seriously pissed in bars if they switched from the CBC to the ESPN feed, we despised Thorne so. Jim Hughson (SAVE BY LU-OOOONNNNGOO!) does a nice job on CBC. Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda do a fabulous job for SJ--they are exciting and informative yet avoid being homers and call it as they see it. I don't mind a bit when Center Ice picks up the SJ feed when Detroit plays there. Ralph Strangis and Daryl Reaugh do a nice job for the Stars. Brent Severyn is the best radio color commentator, bar none.

You know who has been relatively invisible so far is Mike Grier, who easily had the most heart on the team last year. And you can't let your captain get leveled like that and not respond, especially in the other team's building. No way. Now the Sharks will be looking over their shoulders in game 4 because they won't know if any of their teammates have their back. Nabby didn't pull any punches after the game: "It takes men to play this sport, not a bunch of boys," the Sharks goalie said Sunday night. "And we looked like a bunch of boys out there and they looked like a bunch of men. Now we have to turn it around and respond."

WQF Game 3 (4/14) GDT: Predators 5, Red Wings 3

Let's not forget this happened last year as well, when the Wings were more dominating in games 1-2 than they were this series--and the Wings needed OT in game 6 to put the Flames away. All this talk about weathering the storm is spot on. The Preds are gonna come out hard, and Holmstrom's gonna have 5 goals disallowed and spend the entire night in the box (only half kidding here...). If the Wings are down after one, which could very well happen tonight, they need to respond like they did on Saturday when things started going the Preds' way. Go Wings! -
Duck Guy wins! Still don't see how that was a penalty, but at least that way it showed up on the stat sheet

Hell yeah! Let's Go Wings!!! -
Hey, let's look on the bright side for SJ: the spotlight's off Marleau for now

Teams can have a couple of peaks in a season, but you are right--the Sharks were playing phenomenally at the end of the season but might not have enough time to get it back. lol I tried to get onto the Sharks' boards but the site is down due to overload: mySQL query error: SELECT id, member_id, running_time, location FROM ibf_sessions WHERE id='22e733d397ac0d949055e11b1cda63c7' and ip_address='128.195.105.196' mySQL error: Too many connections mySQL error code: Epic Fail Date: Sunday 13th of April 2008 09:45:55 PM

Wow. That is that kind of loss that destroys a team. Destroys a franchise.
-
OWEN NOLAN!!! 4-3!!! SJ=Epic Fail!
-
CBC keeps cutting to shots of Ron Wilson on the bench, and he's always shaking his head and looks like he's as lost as his team. It's obvious he has no answers here.
-
Vlasic's playing on the wrong team

Regardless of the outcome of the game, I think Calgary's done their job making this a close game. Getting blitzed at home would have completely changed the tenor of the series. But they just need one of two at home here to really make sure this is a long series, if not an upset. *crosses fingers hoping that win comes tonight*

Nothing illegal about it. This is where the game needs to be self-policing. If you're the Devils and don't like it, kick his ass.
-
I think a leg injury. He got hit in the corner, tried to skate it off, and then headed to the locker room and hasn't been back since. This game is all Calgary now. SJ seems to have no ability to respond when things turn against them.
-
The Flames just look much, much faster than the Sharks right now. Which really shouldn't happen. Ever.
-
3-2! We have a game!
-
Let's go Calgary! Big PP!
-
Second best Newfie in hockey!
-
Over an Anaheim team that has reached the second round by playing much better than they have so far? Yes. Over a Dallas team that's just steamrolled the Ducks? Yes. But it's a toss-up between the Flames and the Avs.

The feed was a bit blocky at first for some reason but seems fine now. They also seem to be slowly resolving the techinical difficulties with the scoreboard. Wow, Sarich! Again, why I wanted to play Nashville instead of Calgary in the first round. The next goal is huge. Either Calgary really makes a game of it, or the game gets out of hand and Calgary starts to goon it up. Either way, win-win for the Wings!
-
Good! As we know from last year, we have two more periods of these shenanigans to expect from Calgary!
-
Hey Viperar, is the feed really jumpy? This wasn't at all the case before with the Habs-Bs game. And there also seems to be a problem with the scoreboard--it shows 3-0 Sharks
-
Nevermind, Vs. is picking up the CBC feed!
