Griffins PP goal!
-
I'm more worried about primary scoring at this point.

A shutout tonight would establish a career-best mark for Garon for most shutouts in a single season.
-
Garon again? What's with mediocre goalies going to Edmonton and playing well against Detroit?

Griffins PP!

Wow, was there anyone else on the ice besides Ozzie?
-
$1 Popcorn Night? Seriously? That'll get them in like no promotion since Kyle Calder trading card night.
-
The Griffins still look really disorganized in the offensive zone.
-
Seriously...I think that's the least scared I've ever been. I'd be more scared of Ron MacLean.

Babs=death stare on bench

Wings need to stop assuming these oblique angle shots are going to keep going in...
-
Perhaps Ozzie should inform the rest of the team that the period began?

A silly, silly goal by O'Sullivan. 3-2
-
That was Cloutier. They just told him he's going in for the 4rd.

Thanks esteff! This clearly shows the Pronger eye gouge to start the fight. What a tool. Way to stand up, Danny boy!

Man that was a fun game to be at! Intense first, very solid second, ran out of gas a bit in the third after B2Bs without Z (and Cleary for most of this one). Still, a very solid effort all round. What I loved most about the game was the way the team stood up for each other in a way I didn't see even last year. Cleary, Franzen, Downey, even Kopecky and Huddles stood tall. Mad props to Cleary for going balls out against the Ugly Ogre. The fight was right in front of me. Cleary had a look on his face like, "Yeah, you're twice my size, and I'm not thrilled about fighting you, but let's dance, big boy." The Wings can still play better, but this looked like a coming together moment for the team. Edit: Forgot to mention Malts. He had one of his best games of the year. He was around the puck the entire game on both ends of the ice.

Lots of teams seem to get stuck playing LA and Anaheim on B2Bs. Oh well. Hopefully the Wings resting Cheli and playing the fourth line a lot last night leaves them rested. And hopefully the rain and inept Southern Californian drivers don't close the freeway for those of us trying to get to the Ponda Center tonight. Go Wings!

I agree in a sense that it's apples and orange, but I think that weakens my argument in that losing a defencemen is worse. Most teams, Detroit included, have less depth at defence and hence can less afford to trade away that depth. The Wings have a much better chance of advance if Dats and Homer go down than, say, Rafalski and Kronners. Without Kronwall (and barring further trade), the Wings are even shorter on defence than they were last season, when they had Markov. And injury aside, I still don't see what is current hole that Sundin would fill that would compensate for the obvious one that trading Kronwall would introduce.
