down boy... I didn't coin the "yankees of soccer" phrase. I'm sure you've heard it uttered elsewhere in American media. I imagine that the cause for such a phrase are the facts that Man U has a gigantic payroll, it's an extremely valuable franchise., and it's probably the most recognizable and followed team in the sport...just like the Yankees. Think of it this way... IF you were to analogize Man U to any team in Major League Baseball, who would it be? The Pittsburgh Pirates? Doubt it. They're perceived as an uber-franchise, just like the Yankees, whether they've historical been such or not. but for the record, am I ignorant on European soccer? Probably...and I'm actually kinda glad about that. If the level of flopping and faking in European leagues resembles what we see in the World Cup every 4th year, then I couldn't be happier to be officially ignorant about the sport. I watched the game today and what I saw was actually pretty good. Even Ronaldo, who won Best Actor at last year's World Cup, managed to keep things at bay at least a little bit. Although, I do notice that that guy is actually looking for hte ref before he even hits the ground when he falls. Hilarious.

Lidstrom will win it. But to be objective, Pronger was the best D-man in the league this season. If he didn't get hurt, I think he would have won it for sure.

I think Sheff is the key right now. The Tigers have a decent record with their 3-hole not doing much of anything. Typically, the 3 and 4 hitters are the most important hitters in your lineup. Certainly, they are expected to be your premier run producers. And the Tigers have done decently without much production from their 3-hole. So if Sheff heats up, I think the Tigers could get really hot.

How do you know that the puck wouldn't have gone in if he tried to stay conventional on it? The Snow Angel throws guys off and makes them adjust when they otherwise would just let the shot go. In fact, that's what made Cheechoo's goal more difficult. If Hasek just goes down into a buttlerfly, and Cheechoo fakes and goes around, then has a lot more net to work with and he doesn't have to try to stick handle around Dom's arm, which is why he had to get off that weak chip that barely went in.

One of the best goal scorers in the league faked a shot from point blank. What did you want him to do? Almost every goalie in the league would have taken that bait. He was at Cheechoo's mercy at that point.

The Avs rivalry is essentially lost at this point anyway. The hate has escaped it. There’s not much to it anymore. There was really no historical reason for the rivalry until Claude Lemieux went Claude Lemieux. But the Leafs rivalry is deeply seeded in hockey history. I think it’s more important to revive that one.
