I tracked down some Vernor's as a game day beverage. Had a can before game 4, and am starting in on tonight's can now. Too bad it's been dumbed down for national distribution. I miss the days when it made you cough or sneeze to drink it.

At least bringing Ottawa into the rumor mill mix makes it a little more interesting than the usual so-and-so is in negotiations to go to the Leafs whispers.

There was a blurb a couple of days ago that the Wings had agreed to terms with Hakan for another two years but, following general office protocol for the club, the contract wouldn't officially be signed until after the playoffs.

I don't see a Sid win unless he manages to (deity of choice forbid) rally the troops to take the Cup for the Pens. The only series all the voters for the award have seen is the SCF, and performance in the SCF should count for at least double compared to the rest of the playoff performance. He's been a good player in the SCF, but has not been extrordinary enough with all the voters in the house to win the Con Smythe for a losing team. Wings side effectively comes down to who plays well in their last game of the season, and an excellent performance by either Z-man or Osgood could tip the scale in their favor. Though as long as Ozzie turn in a respectable performance the rest of the way, I suspect that the shutouts in the first two games give him the edge as things stand now.

C'mon 7pm. (Central Time Zone crew here) Once the nice gentlemen in neat suits with white gloves start to unpack things in the middle of the 3rd, as they tend to do, I don't want them to have to even think about repacking for the trip to Pittsburgh.

Hakan Andersson is the biggest reason why it seems like every year the Wings manage to find a guy in the third round or later of the draft who will turn into a solid to exceptional NHL player in a couple of years. He's got an uncanny knack for spotting potential, and while he'll gladly drive up to see an interesting-sounding player that's the third leading scorer in a Finnish beer league somewhere above the Arctic circle, he's said he takes it almost as a personal insult if another scout manages to scoop him on a prospect close to home in Sweden. If it wasn't for Hakan seeing the one game in Sweden where Johnathan Ericsson, normally a forward, played defense in an emergency situation, the Wings would have passed on him along with everyone else, and we wouldn't be looking at a Mr. Irrelevant that's morphed into a guy who should be a quality NHL level defenseman.

Count me as someone from the great Michigan Diaspora who stops following hockey when the Wings are done for the year. Exception- when it's looking like it's the last game of the Stanley Finals, because no matter who is playing, it makes me cry in a good sort of way to see the presentation of the Cup. I've tried to develop an interest in other teams to justify buying Center Ice every year, but it just doesn't seem to work, and it takes a lot for me to tune into a game that doesn't involve the Wings.

I'm amused that they sat him right in front of a RW logo so it looks like he's got a wing coming out of his ear.

The front office and coaching staff get a certain amount of cup space. Example: Hakaan Andersson's name is on the Cup. It all depends on how deep Jiri's name is on the list of off-ice personnel.

Maybe execute was on his word-of-the-day calender and he's trying to expand his english vocabulary.

That's the first thing I noticed about him back in 2001. Here's this little rookie that would go into the corners, and even though the other guy might have 50 pounds on him, Pavel was the one who always seemed to come away with the puck.

Cherry chunk and chocolate ice cream sounds really good right now. As for braiding or knotting bracelets, you can get a decent amount of tension on the thread by holding the completed part of it between your toes, leaving both hands to do the knotting/braiding.
