Skimming through here, he's like Jiri Hudler-sized but with better speed and defensive upside? Sounds like someone to take a chance on if the price is right.

Report on Kozlov over the years is that he's been one of those Russians who has been a fanatic about manitaining fitness. He's probably got another 2-3 decent seasons for him, though not for the price he is right now.

As someone who remembers Hitch behind the bench in Kalamzoo, I both think it was a bad move by the team and reserve the right to snark about his girth.

Since Lilja's still on the IR indefinitely and Sammy's gone, I guess someone else had to pick up the slack in terms of breaking our own players.

It's going to be a sad day for the NHL and its sportswriters when Miroslav retires for good. The headlines and jokes have just been so much fun over the years.

When I was in college, the bus that the mid-sized sports teams used to get to games and meets was pretty notorious for breaking down everywhere and any time, including with the baseball team several hundred miles away from campus in Georgia while on a training trip. It finally went down for good when the engine caught fire on the way to Calvin with the track team. And not only did the bus burn, but at the time they were using magnesium composite pole vault poles, which were attached to the burning bus, and it got hot enough to have the magnesium catch fire, which I'm told was actually pretty scary to watch. It was actually pretty funny because the response was first "Thank God no one was hurt" immediately followed by "Thank God they can't just fix that POS again this time."

Wonder if Larry Murphy's been skating for fitness recently. Might take a couple of days for Fetisov to get a work visa, and we seem fated to lose a couple more d-men before the Christmas break.

Detroit's reaction to the Habs jerseys tonight

But nerdy creative can be a lot of fun. I've had a blast at every science fiction con I've been to. -

They were probably going for an undyed original leather color with the gloves and then had a moment of fail when they dyed the gloves to try to get old school brown. Could sworn I saw the jailbird uniforms reappear for at least one game this year. I guess it's some sort of Canadian solidarity movement designed to remind us that Vancouver doesn't have a monopoly on bad jersey design. -
Bob Probert had a season or two where he couldn't cross the border because of the drug charges, IIRC. So a lot of games, he was officially a healthy scratch because of immigration issues. I suspect that current joint law and probation agreements say he is allowed to enter Canada solely for work (ie. hockey) purposes while he is with the team.

You also inflicted William Shatner on your unsuspecting southern neighbors.

No curly fries down here. On the bright side, it's supposed to be sunny and 78F tomorrow.

Flipped over to HNIC for intermission, and I hve to say that Grapes has a Hall of Fame sports coat on tonight. My eyeballs now hurt.

Okay, Ericsson's helmet getting stuck around his neck was laugh out loud funny.

The ECHL IceGators were pretty notorious for both winning a lot and for what turned out to be massive salary cap violation issues. When they actually honestly adhered to the cap, they slid to mediocre, and people stopped coming out to watch. I also miss the old New Orleans Brass, who were a casualty of the Hornets taking over their arena. The Brass would have had to bear most of the cost of converting the floor from ice to wood and back, and they would have also been stuck with the NBA team's sloppy seconds in terms of dates. The Brass had some awesome and dedicated fans.

Or a Red Wings defenseman not named Lidstrom.

Darn it, we were thinking of going to that game and decided against the drive. Gotta show some love to the IceFlyers this year for trying to make a go of it after the IcePilots folded.

First world problem/world's tiniest violin: we bought a 52" flatscreen tv today and it's still sitting in the damn box at the moment because the spousal unit had to go back to the store to go swap out the mounting bracket (wall studs too far apart) for a tv stand for it. I wanna see the carnage in giant HDTV, darn it!

I'd also put l'affaire Uwe Krupp in the list of freaaky events and Red Wings defensemen.

Egg (plant) Parm?

Why play The Good Old Hockey Game at the end of the game?

I'm probably the only person on the planet who misses 'Oh What a Night' after big games. -
If the Wings do win, my bet would be that the Cup clincher comes from Sammy. He's got a tendency to score freak key goals and is about due to miss the goalie's chest again.

Babs:' We rushed Pavel back. Regular season and he wouldn't be playing'
