The ONE thing I can't stand about Wings games on FSD.....

Actually, it's about $170/season for me to add the Center Ice package to my Directv subscription including Florida's nifty 'it's not a tax' satellite tv use fee. Which is like real money for most folks.

And then one day, you find yourself living a thousand miles away from where you grew up and wishing that there was a Belle Tire down here because none of the local tire stores come close to the same price/service standards. I find myself digging most of the FSD commercials out of childhood nostalgia and wishing they'd bring back the Kowalski Kowality Moment.

    Red Wings merchandise scam.

It could still be a scam for other reasons, but I wouldn't judge a company for failure to ship an item on January 2, since it was a federal holiday (observed). USPS wasn't delivering, and the other shipping companies might have been hit or miss that day as well.

    11/20 GDT : Red Wings 4 at Ducks 2

Given what Gilchrist went through injury-wise in order to remain an active NHL player, I'm inclined to read this as some sort of 'I'm into S&M' secret jersey code deal.

    Thank You Chris Osgood!

This. His physical skills were pretty average by NHL standards, but he had great success because he really has the perfect temperment for a professional goalie. His good head for the game and heart got him from average to 400.

CBC's Inside Hockey with Pavel Datsyuk

    Datsyuk, Rafalski Injury Update Thread

When someone says Center Ice channel in the 770+ range, I assume they've got Directv which, despite its many other flaws (I want my BBC Amrica in HD, darn it!), tends to be extremely comprehensive in its HD hockey offerings.

    Hi I'm new

I grew up in Grand Rapids and ended up down here because of my husband's job options- not military, despite the norm for the area- he teaches at the college. There are others of us down here. A friend (metro Detroit native) tells the story of how, back in the days before Center Ice, she discovered that she could pick up some games on WJR from her car stereo if she parked in the sweet spot in the Niceville High School parking lot and the sun had gone down.

    Hi I'm new

We live in a lowish latitude area prone to seriously heavy rainstorms (the Northern Gulf Coast) We'll get some pixelation during the 2-3 inches an hour rainstorms that are common here in spring and summer, but the problem generally resolves itself in 5 minutes or less. Maybe 3-4 times a year we'll have one of those storms last long enough to cause significant disruption/lost signal. On the flip side of it, since we were part of the 2% households in our county who never lost power during Hurricane Ivan, I can say that we had perfect reception when a large category 3 hurricane was making landfall 50 miles west of us (ie. we were on the bad side of the storm) Dish was secure enough that it stayed in acceptable satellite alignment despite 60mph+ sustained winds in my neighborhood and there apparently wasn't enough cloud cover from the storm to cause a signal blockage.

    Hi I'm new

Quite a few. These days, it's common to have four different feed options for every game- Wings SD, Wings HD, Opponent SD, Opponent HD. Pretty much if one of their regional sports channels is covering the games in HD, you'll get it. Same goes for non-Wings hockey content. It really is a nice and comprehensive package for the price you pay for it. (I remember the old days when you always got only one feed per game- the home team, and man, I came to loathe the LA Kings announcing crew) My biggest gripe these days is that they moved the lead HNiC broadcast to NHL Network and strip out the CanCon commercials- I miss getting the feed direct from PEI, complete with the Molson 'I am Canadian' ads. Signed, A happy Center Ice/Directv user since the 1997-98 season.

    Hi I'm new

Another Center Ice on Directv fan here- they've got the bandwidth to carry pretty much every available feed on game night, and it seems like I can always get Fox Detroit in HD for the games they carry. NHL network and Vs. are included with some package or other we have, so the only games we run the risk of missing are the odd NBC ones where the mothership has decided we're supposed to really really want to watch Pittsbrugh (sigh) or Dallas or the Rangers or something instead.

    Will he wont he?

The club is also pretty limited in terms of trade options because of the salary cap, even with what they've been able to keep 'off the books' with players on the LTIR this year.
