Seems like the NHL.com radio feed isn't far behind, although their live update has gone wonky (it started counting down from 16 minutes or so after the period was over). Man, the commercials are like twice as loud, though... Good to be up. Good to hear that Rafalski pounded it in - his first of many, I hope.

Haven't heard that happening, but I did know a friend in high school who adored the Wings - and pronounced #19's name "A - zer - men." He, uh, was still pronouncing it that way despite hearing it correctly on television.

Good read. He highlights that the Wings do have several players rising (if that suffices) while noting the consistency of the group that dragged the team up to the top. Yet it all feels...more hollow than before. Yzerman is gone, Shanahan left, Fedorov skipped town, etc. Once my favorite Red Wing - Lidstrom - retires, I don't know how I'll feel. Nice to see speculation he might pull a Chelios though (and be even more efficient!). I agree, the team is old and slow and European. Still, if it wins another Cup that way, fine by me.

I'm partial to Sir Dallas Drake. He should be commanding respect, anyway.

Didn't see last night's game, but the games I have watched on Versus have been abrasive. It does look like their cameras are straight out of the '70s. At least I can watch, but I do prefer to be able to distinguish what I'm watching.

No 1-0 games either to satisfy the "needs more goals" casual crowd! ...though out of the four games, I was most delighted with the Stastny Show. A Wings victory is ace, but a Colorado team good enough to refresh the rivalry - that'd be killer. Then maybe we could prove we don't need 8 games against Columbus...

Not bad. The scores at the top are the best part, I think. The site feels...cramped, but that's understandable given the sizable number of portals. I do wish the Frozen Moment were up top and the ad near the bottom, but that's advertising for ya. The poll is kind of depressing, though, in that (currently) only about 30% of people polled think that 7+ teams will finish with 100+ points. What? There were 10 two years ago and 11 last year. This ain't Original Six Season alluvasudden.

A season-opening victory is good for my heart rate. Always nice to see D&Z tearing it up, particularly Zetta. Now I'm considering getting Center Ice in order to avoid missing a good chunk of games...maybe I could skip out on dinner every other day...after all, chicken wings or Red Wings? - the choice is easy.
