I'd like to see more Osgood for the following reasons: 1) The man is better than credited, usually. He has won a Cup as a starter, and he hasn't (lately) been giving up as many soft goals. Consider also that we have Lidstrom, Chelios, Rafalski, the Pain Train, Kronwall, and so on - it's not as though Osgood will be facing 20 quality shots a night. 2) Hasek is forty-two going on Chelios. If it turns out we need him in the playoffs, it'd be nice if he weren't injured or drained from a long season. I do think Hasek should continue to play - just not as often.

Epic GDT. Aflac, you outdo yourself, sir. 4-1 Wings with a heaping helping of Vengeance tonight. Detroit: Datsyuk, Cleary, Lidstrom, Holmstrom Chicago: Lazy & Sucks

Should Pavel and Hank stay on the same line?
Shy Ranger replied to datsyuk_13_fan's topic in General
As of right now - you bet they should stay together. I'm all for rolling as many offensively threatening lines as possible, but a top line so good (Z-P-H) is such a force that I cannot help but demand that it be unleashed on the unsuspecting charlatans on other teams. Oh yeah, and they're awesome together, too. -
Not too surprised with either, but it's very nice regardless. Zetta should continue to flourish - especially if he stays with Pavel - and Lidstrom is a terror on the PP. Blessed are we to witness the firstfruits of such majesty. :fro:

Really feeling good about today's game, so I'll venture big: 5-1 Wings Detroit: Datsyuk x2, Cleary, Kronwall, Filppula Calgary: Tanguay

See: 1998 Stanley Cup. Osgood may not have carried us singlehandedly to a Cup, but he won one as the starter. So did Khabibulin, of course - with Tampa. Is Chicago going to reward the Bulin Wall similarly?
-
Happy birthday Zetta! May we reward you by signing a contract soon - - by "we" I mean "you," of course, and by "you" I mean "Red Wings fans."
-
GAA doesn't worry me but SV% does. I for one think that Osgood should be carrying about half of the workload anyway. Hasek is still a fine goalie who can Dominate the opposition, but he is above 40 and he has suffered from extended injuries before. I have enough confidence in Osgood that I wouldn't be troubled if Hasek were out for a week or two. Still, I do hope Dom gets well fast.

Seven points in three games - I ain't complainin' about Zetta yet, no sir. Next game, though, please make it a little less tense. Tense is only fun after the fact. Anyhow, see you guys - same time, same place - for the Calgary game!

DRAPES! Detroit wins! YES. :fro:
-
Yes ma'am. *salute* ...so from what I can gather from reading this topic and listening to the radio feed, the Wings have played well in netting their goals but have sat back just long enough to give Edmonton two scores. In short, it's a 90% effort game. Would that be precise?
-
...and as soon as the radio comes up, Edmonton scores. I'd better log off for the night...
-
Whew! - I didn't miss the whole game. *cranks up NHL Radio* 3-1 Wings, eh? Both Cheli and Homer have scored? Awesome. Wait, Sammy scored!? Oh lawd, the sky is falling.

I'm guessing the SO streak will continue. 3-3 after three with a Wings victory in the SO 2-1. Detroit (game): Filppula, Cleary, Lidstrom Edmonton (game): Staios, Hemsky, Torres Detroit (SO): Datsyuk, Zetterberg Edmonton (SO): Horcoff Also, I've seen this Aflac GDTs before - yet they are a true joy in person. Excellent!
-
12/21 isn't a bad start considering the spread of scores this first week. Looking forward to next weekend already!
-
I for one hope the 'Lanche do return to top form - whether by Sakic, Stastny, Budaj, or a combination of anyone. I rather enjoyed the Wings/Avs rivalry and prefer it to the current Nashville one. For starters, Nashville hasn't really tested the Wings in the postseason yet - either team has gotten rolled by some hot goalie before the matchup could happen. A nice...Coloroit?...Detrorado? meeting could be intriguing come the playoffs this year.
-
Get better Mule, but don't rush it - the team needs you at 100% for the rest of the season! I guess soon we'll find out who will fill his space on the roster. I agree that whoever steps up should compete well enough to justify a spot - we've got a solid four lines and there's no need to relegate any of them to "last-resort" status.
-
Well, it's 2 games out of 82. The Wings scraped by the Ducks and got slighted by the Hawks. The season will settle in soon - maybe then it'll be easier to judge what needs to shake up and who needs to pick it up. 'Till then, I'll try to relax more. Still...I mean, come on, it was the frikkin' Chicago Blackhawks.
-
Gotta keep the faith - as do we. It's only the dawn of the season yet. The Ducks dominated the postseason last year, which is when it really counts. I should think Anaheim will be back in it again this season. Just be ready for Detroit's revenge this year.
-
Depressing ending to this day. Wasn't able to watch the game, but from what I heard all night the ability to gather some semblance of defense and protect or increase a lead did not register with the team from Detroit. To the Joe next - would like to see the team angry with themselves enough to whap the Oilers upside the skull.
-
Holy Hasek! To the SO...
-
Yeah, let's let Chicago score more often than Anaheim. Great. Wake up fellas!
