Ducks Forward Erik Christensen on waivers

We really don't need any depth players (for forward anyway), we need players to allow the large amount of depth players we have to be depth players. -
So how does the "logical side" explain why Babcock has said so many great things about Filppula? How does the "logical side" explain that Filppula has as many goals as Zetterberg? How does the "logical" explain Filppula being AHEAD of Datsyuk (talking points per game) and behind only Zetterberg and Franzen in last years playoffs (ie ahead of cleary, hossa and your beloved hudler)? The fact is there is having a modest outlook on Filppula and being a fool. You're being the latter gcom, Drake being the Former. Once you say that Filppula should be able to take the fourth line to another level, all your credibility is gone. Also, the "scouting reports" that Drake has seemed to love to bring up supports....me, saying he'll be a good second line center.

Zetterberg needs to get some goals.

By the way, after not having FSD+ last season, I absolutely love having it.

You're misunderstand the meaning of our "best" player. Obviously he's not as good as Datsyuk or Zetterberg, no one is suggesting that, but he has been our hardest working and most consistent player so far. And so you're under the impression that with Filppula leaving on such a high note, that being out for 6 weeks will make people realize that he should be on the fourth line? I see no logic there. And Flip's +/- is not due to him being poor defensively. Over the past 3 games he has been -6. Lets look at the goals, shall we? In colorado, he was on the ice for all 3 of the Avs goals scored, sounds bad, but not really: First goal: Dumb give away by Rafalski ends up with the puck and an avs player in front of the net. Nothing to do with Filppula. Second goal: Weak shot by Avs player, weak goal for howard. Nothing to do with Filppula. Third goal: Empty Net. Against the Canucks, he was on the ice for both goals given up by Osgood, need I say more? Wasn't on the ice for another goal against in the game. Edmonton was Filppula's worst game defensively, but one of the goals he was on the ice for was a breakaway created by bertuzzi and rafalski, Flip having nothing to do with that. Take that away and he is even. So, believe it or not, the stats don't always tell the full story. Also his poor +/- has NOTHING to do with being being overused offensively or some other trash you're spewing.

When the injured player comes back, isn't the cap hit only the amount of games he actually plays? So, using completely arbitrary numbers, tell me if this is correct. At the start of the season a team has a $50 million total salary, and the salary cap is $50 million. Before the first game a $5 million/year player is placed on LTIR. This team would now have $5 million cap room until the injured player returns, but then obviously would need to be cap compliant for the player to return. Now lets say that exactly half way through the season this player comes back (after missing 41 games). Since the player missed 51 games and half the season, providing the $5 million in cap space was never used, would the team have a total $47.5 cap hit, and thus $2.5 million free space? Now lets say Filppula misses 20 games, wouldn't that mean that when Filppula comes back his cap hit is only 62/82ths of his total average hit? So given that he has a 3 million yearly average per 82 games, when he comes back he'll only count for 2.27m? And if Franzen misses 41 games (which is probably very optimistic) his cap hit will only be 1.97m, right? So the total salary space gained would be around 2.7m.

I thought it meant will the wings get 50 GOALS in 50 games.

I'm guessing you're referring to what I said in the GDT, just to clarify I meant Flip was looking like our best player just in this game, I didn't mean all season so far.

I was meaning more just in this game, up until he left the game. And yeah his +/- has taken a huge beating lately, but honestly I think it has a lot to do with just being unlucky. Though tonight was his worst game defensively (though he was 87% in face offs tonight, and leads the centers in FO%) he looked like the only one who could get close to doing anything offensively. His passing is near perfect. -
Would have rather lost 18 to 0 than have this happen. This sucks.

Surprised that's not interference on Stuart. -
Well, I guess you didn't get here until after the Hasek/Osgood spectacles (do you actually think OsGod was saying things like "oh well the regular season doesn't matter" when Hasek was struggling?). Consider yourself lucky. But trust me, OsGod doesn't just seem biased, he is the definition and epitome of epitomes of biased. So yeah, I will just continue to make gross over-exaggerations, thanks for the advice. His posts in this thread alone is enough to see how biased he is. Well I was talking more about his hysterically hypocritical viewpoint than just defending Ozzie....and you won't get an answer to the question.
