If anyone missed it I was kidding about the Osgood/Conklin thing. I just wanted to see if MrSandMan was so hopped up for a goalie debate again that he'd actually create a thought out response. I was right. Now who is more obsessed?

One win for San Jose or a loss from us will clinch the Conference for the sharks.

Conklin would have outplayed Osgood so much that he actually would have erased previous goals scored against us.

Great game tonight, especailly so because it was the second of a back to back. Osgood played a great game. If we have goaltending like that in the playoffs, we'll win the Stanley cup. Awesome for Hossa to get his 40th. I can't believe Flip got that penalty when he floored MacArthur. Unbelievable. Otherwise he was great. He really does make those small plays in the defensive zone better than anyone but Hossa or Datsyuk. And Stuart has a huge shot, I wish he'd play more on the PP.

When Osgood plays I'm behind him 100% and I want him to win...but Osgood slappies don't see this. In their one-sided love affair with Osgood, if someone says something bad about Osgood it's automatically construed as "I hate Osgood and I hope he lets in 20 goals a game. You know you're at the bottom when "just" not allowing a goal means for a "great period". He faced 8 shots, backstrom faced 10 shots that period. It's not as though Minnesota controled the play and had 20 shots to our 3. I don't recall any great scoring chances that any goalie shouldn't have stopped. I don't mention a "great third period" because it wasn't "great". He was solid. Super. Hasek had a lot of solid games last year too but he still got pulled in the playoffs. Just being solid for 20 minutes against an offensively lacking Minnesota team doesn't restore any confidence. I've praised Osgood where it is due. That hasn't been much this season. If my predictions are wrong, and Osgood pulls it together and puts together a strong playoff run, I'll be the first to admit it and I'll be just as happy for the team and for Osgood as anyone else. I WANT to be wrong. I just don't see it happening, and that is where the frustration lies.

Okay, about once every 20 years a goalie with a horrible regular season has won the cup. That makes me feel so much better. I've now realized that my doubt in Osgood in completely unfounded. Game, set, match.

Because none of the people who are critical of Osgood's horrible year this year want that, right? I'm sure only the people who have defended Ozzie here want the team to succeed. The rest of us are mad that we're making the playoffs. It's too bad Ozzie won any games at all because then we'd REALLY be able to bash him! GRRR, I'm just steam-boatin mad, folks. Yee-haw. Answer these questions for me, I just want to know exactly what you think: On a scale from 1-10 (ten being the best) rate the year Osgood had overall in 07-08. On a scale from 1-10 (ten being the best) rate the year Osgood has had overall (ie not just the past 10 or so games) in 08-09. On a scale from 1-10 (ten being the best) rate the year Conklin has had overall in 08-09. And lastly: Do you think that a goalie, any goalie, can have a horrible regular season, then play in the playoffs and win the cup. Please, I just want straight answers.

It also seems like people think just because you're critical of Osgood, you WANT him to do badly. When osgood plays, I want him to do good, if he starts in the playoffs I'll be cheering for him just like I would anyone. No one WANTS him to lose, it's just we don't have a blind confidence like all these "true fans" do.

How does being #2 in the standings help us going into the playoffs with the 20-something-th worst GAA in the league? Your logic is so absolutely backwards it's hard to put into words. Not every goal is the fault of the goaltender and not every goaltender is going to stop them all, we understand this. There is no goal I would fault on backstrom, and I'm not faulting osgood on the second goal against us, but the first one he let in is the same s*** he's been doing all season. His FIRST GOAL against him this season was a retarded giveaway to a maple leaf player and he just had to tap it into the open net. NOTHING has changed. Our changes at playoff success with him in net is drastically low. It just seems like your denying that osgood has ever played bad this season, and you're pretty much the only person who is doing that. Osgood has played bad all season, it has yet to change, yet you osgood boners think it's going to change when the playoffs start. Let me give you a hint. It won't.

Maybe I should focus on the 3.17 goals per game that Osgood gives up playing for the team ranked #2 in the conference, versus the 2.32 that Backstrom gives up playing for a team which just had it's palyoff dreams smashed in that case. See if you can wrap your happy go lucky mind around that.

I'm not just talking about the first goal, I'm talking about the entire season and those under the delusion Osgood's horrible season is due to the defense.

How are people still blaming the rest of the team for Osgood's horrible play this season? Did you not see the first goal against this game? Was that indicative of the defense's horrible play this season, or Osgoods? And lol at osgood keeping us in the game in the 3rd. He's the reason they tied it in the first place.
