I think Downey is entirely worthless and given that our team is so incredibly deep he isn't worth a roster spot.

This season he has .574 goals a game. Over an 82 game season that is 47 goals. His highest thus far is 45 in 02-03. Normally I don't place much stock in what a player is on pace for, it's usually off, but in this case I actually think he'll get MORE than 47 goals. Hossa has absolutely turned in on lately and is really meshing with the team now, something he wasn't really doing as well the first 30-35 games. He is on a 5 game goal streak, with 7 goals over that stretch. He has 9 in 8, and you have to go back 16 games for his goal/game number to look even remotely human (14/16). Before that has had 17 goals in 38 games including his 7 game goal drought, nearly half his production of his last 16 games. Anyway I just thought that was an interesting little fact and that it would be a demonic travesty not to do everything we can to resign him.

Unless it's part of a big deal, I wouldn't trade him, especially just for neil. I have a feeling Franzen is going to be a big help in the playoffs.

Z Dats Homer Leino Flip Hossa (that line was sweet when they played together for a couple games) Franzen Huds Sammy Kopey - Draper - Cleary Lids Rafski Kronner Ericsson Lilja Stuart PP: Hossa Datsyuk Homer Franzen Z Huds I hate having cleary on the 4th line but it just shows how incredibly deep we are. With Kopy playing so well that line should kick ass. Franzen and Hossa on the same line sucks so Franzen gets put in with Hudler. Huds ATM is a better passer than flip so he should be put with Franzen who can sometimes benifit from a nice pass but after that doesn't do anything, which further justifies his place on the third line. Hossa doesn't need a great passer because he does a lot on his own but Leino has a lot of skill and Flip and Hoss are both skaters (and it's not like Flip can't make great passes) so that line is a great matchup. And obviously ZDH. As for the PP lines, Franzen should absolutely be on the PP, as well as Huds but again I hate having Hossa and Franzen on the same line so we go back to earlier in the season with Hossa and Dats on the PP and then the second line should play well as well. With those lines, we win the Stanley Cup.

Isn't there a certain limit to low long a player can be up before he has to clear waivers to go back down? Maybe this has something to do with that.

I think a lot depends on how the goalie thing this year plays out. If Osgood doesn't get his s*** together I don't see him being a wing much longer, and at that point conklin might be a good idea. There are too many variables I think to predict what will happen.

We've seen that we play well when we need to. We're fine.
