I'm most curious to see how he uses our players in lime combinations. One my my gripes about Babcock is how he set up his lines. Babcock was really into the "Shooter, Passer, Big Body" combo and while I think that can work, he used it a little too religiously. I'm also curious to see if he'll be giving Weiss more of a chance than Babcock ever did.

Whether Babcock is the sole reason we made the playoffs or if he's even the best coach in hockey is extremely debatable. Secondly, I think it'd be good if the Wings ended the streak. I feel like the team wants to get into the playoffs more to extend the streak than to win series. If we miss the playoffs one year, the next year the team would be playing for themselves, not for a fast-aging era.

I've always liked Abby but I think there are players with more potential to put in the top 6 with Datsyuk and Zetterberg. I also think he's too good for the bottom six. Perhaps he could be good trade bait.

Even if he did come back he'd be a shell of his former self, and his former self wasn't that great. I hate to say it for his own sake but I'd prefer for him to just finish his contract on LTIR.

All of this. The Wings have had motivation problems for years. I'm so glad we're getting a new coach. Babcock is very much overrated.

Agreed. Babcock is completely overrated. He has won at all levels, yeah, but he's had completely stacked teams. I could win at the Olympics if I had Canada's team. The Red Wings have completely underperformed with him as head coach. I don't even want Blashill if he is just like Babcock.

Pretty stupid comments by him no matter his intentions. There are much better ways to motivate a player than by completely dismissing him after one half of one pro season.

I know how can anybody be critical when this team has has SO MUCH SUCCESS in the past five years. We should just get the Stanley cup for not losing a series in 6 or less games, what an amazing accomplishment.

So Mrazek has never been over agressive which resulted in him letting in a goal? Not once? He doesn't have any consistency problems, he was just as good in game 2 as he was in game 1? That is what you're saying? Because both of those things are wholefully untrue.

How to not overplay pucks and get himself out of position, how to stop a breakaway shooter, when to poke check and when not to poke check. He simply doesn't have the experience yet to be playing against the leagues top goal scorers, as proven by the goals he's giving up. I like him and I can't wait until he does, but Howard should have started this series.

Aside from the fact that you can't tell the future, I'm not saying that Howard should start game 7, it's too late for that. But Howard at the top of his game (which he was at for most of the year) is better and more consistent overall that Mrazek, who has had two very bad games in this series. He won three games, yes, you're not all knowing so you can't say that Howard would not have also won the games. Completely agreed. That doesn't mean I think Mrazek should be playing over Howard.

I base that on how he's constantly out of position and can't stop a breakaway, along with losing two games for us. Mrazek was not good at all tonight. Yes, he made a crazy save but only because he was, again, out of position. I'll just go ahead and not respond to your childish remark. Being a coach or GM doesn't make a person smart. The fact is Mrazek lost us two games. Going with either goalie is a gamble, but I'd rather gamble on the goalie that has proven himself. Mrazek is going to be an amazing goalie in a couple years but he still has a ton to learn.

It could also mean that he wanted to give Howard, his starter, extra rest before the playoffs started or that much less chance of getting injured. Or that he wanted to get one last look at Mrazek to help decide. It's going to be Howard though, there is no doubt. Mrazek getting a shut on in the last game of the regular season against one of the worst teams really doesn't mean all that much.

It's horrible to say but he's pretty ineffective at this point. I don't know if he's just been in a horrible slump or it's just the twilight of his career. He was having a good year up until the past month. Maybe we should just put him on Datsyuk's wing.

And Howard was amazing against the Blues and Tampa. I'm all for giving Jimmy a few games to get it together, but starting anyone but Howard for the playoffs would be crazy. As for Gus, I think it'd be more advantageous to have an extra player with an empty net than having Gus in net.
