Posts: 8 Anyway, it was a great game where we played without Daystuk and the Hawks were playing for their lives. This game doesn't worry me if we see them in the playoffs. Filppula with 22 minutes tonight. -

I would love nothing more than to see the Hawks miss the playoffs, even though I'd feel bad for Hossa. Hopefully the wings trounce them tonight. -

I'd play Joey Monday and Wednesday and give Howard a little time off anyway. Then play Howard until the last game of the season when Joey gets the start, so at least if the wings don't show up at all the last game (likely) and play a horrible game for the goalie, at least it's not Jimmy who is rattled. -

If that was true, football wouldn't be the biggest league in the US by far.

The salary cap doesn't prohibit 5 really good players on every team it prohibits having 5 really good players on a few teams and the rest having 1 or 2. It seems to me the salary cap isn't your problem, it's the amount of teams.

Sorry, but, no they didn't. As much as I want to believe that the wings have officially "flipped the switch" I just don't believe it. The Wings might have put on a better effort, but the Pens I'm sure also dropped their level of play.

Like I say, when Filppula is "on", he plays like a bonafide star. Argue how often he is "on" if you want, but there is no denying his talent. Putting him on the third line should be punishable by death. () Aussie_wing might be right. This might be his best game yet.

Filppula goes to the inside all the time. Look at his goals scored this year (if you can stomach it). Like I said, the difference between today and the past few weeks is his line was able to cycle and battle for the puck in the offensive zone creating opportunities. Which is exactly what lead to his goal.

Fil didn't get that goal because he went to the middle, he got that goal because his teammates on the ice were able to sustain pressure. Lately it seems like if (when Flip is on the ice, anyway) the puck isn't on on Flip's stick, it isn't in the offensive zone. Not that Flip is always making spectacular plays and never loses the puck and is perfect in the offensive zone, but it's just an observation.
