I love how you try to use Kesler's contract as an example of why you're RIGHT on Filppula. The point is, though Kesler may be the better play NOW, Filpulla was looking a lot better then Kesler was prior to last year and that is why he got the better contract. And frankly I think that Filppula would be matching Kesler's production (though perhaps fewer goals) given his spot in Vancouver's lineup.

Kesler signed a 3 year deal at 1.75m after posting up a 23 point 82 game season. In his first year of that contract, he tallied 16 points in 48 games (good for 27 points over 82 games). It took him until his fourth year in the league to best Filppula's second by 1 point, in two extra games. Filppula signed his 3m/5 year deal after posting his 36 point/78 game season and showing a lot of potential. Filppula was also a PPG player in the AHL, Kesler never was. I guess that is what you missed.

THANK YOU BABCOCK. I'd still like to see him center the line as he seems to be 100x better at center than wing, but I wouldn't be surprised if Filppula was the center in theory but Zetterberg just took faceoofs. Filppula is right behind Datsyuk as the best puck carrier through the neutral zone.

Cleary is a guy to whom you say "okay, he's not that skilled and he'll only get 40ish points, but he is a hard working who can score 20 goals". for him to be worth while, he needs to score 20 goals. Filppula on the other hand isn't like that. 20 goals for Filppula is great and he can do it, but it's not what you need from him. He's like a poor (very poor) man's Thornton. great set up guy, not a great goal scorer. If he is racking up the points (which he was on the second line) and being good defensively, you get what you need from him. He needs a goal scorer on his line.

I agree to give Osgood the next start, but if only to give Howard a rest. Osgood has yet to show any "fire" when getting a start. Basically, he has proven the opposite of what you say will happen.

Of course he is going to be invisible with Cleary and Williams. This is the result of horrible line matching from Babcock and his "sit back with the lead" approach.

You think Bert or Miller would be any better than cleary or williams? Babcock needs to get Zetterberg off center and Filppula off third line. We're a one line team right now, except generally when teams are one line teams, they have a REALLY good first line. Our first line is good, but it isn't REALLY good.
