It's the first meeting this year boys! I know the rivalry hasn't been much of a rivalry for a few years, but hopefully we see alot of emotion from both sides on Thursday. I won't be surprised if the Red Wings win, but I just hope it isn't an embarrassment like the game vs Minnesota on Saturday. I mean 51-19 shots? My Lord.

Well lets see Holmstrom, Zetterberg and Maltby are out, Hasek is getting the start and the Wings played last night in St.Louis, and visiting the team with the best home record in the league. All signs lead to an Avs win. But I'm not going to expect an Avs win because Detroit always seems to compete no matter the circumstances.
-
Thats the nicest game day post I have ever seen, well done. anywho, GO AVS GO!

Iginla/Tanguay Stastny/Hejduk Thornton/Marleau
-
Thats because noone shows up to Red Wings games.... But you can't stereotype the whole Avs fan base on a few people. This applies to all sports teams, and GMRWings1983 is doing a great job of embarrassing the rest of the fans on this board.
-
He's playing like he played in 04' with the Caps. I don't know why but he never looked comfortable playing in Detroit.
-
Jose Theodore. and the streak ended early last season in a game vs Chicago, but the streak is an NHL record.
-
Well then , thank you Michigan economy, the Avs sellout streak record remains intact.
-
Good job Detroit.I enjoy seeing them win is against a NW division team.
-
Interesting fact : Bob Probert called the Red Wings an embarrassment to the league when it comes to fighting

Bill Wirtz memorial/moment of silence booed by Blackhawk fans
Avalanche Warning replied to Wings_Fan_In_Exile's topic in General
Blackhawk management knew this could happen, they should have payed tribute some other way.But I really don't blame them for booing. That franchise has been a joke ever since they left Chcago Stadium. Blacking out home games is kicking the team, fans and the game of hockey while they were down. -
Oh yeah, old man Chelios might hit us with his cane!
-
Why does it matter on this board? The wings had like 9 fights last seaosn.
-
Sidney who? Anyway its nice to see someone at his age do well in the league, but I still don't like him as a person.
-
Did this just not happen to the braves? The reason people aren't showing up to games anymore is because winning isn't special anymore. The people are used to it. Until the Jackets ,Hawks and Blues become legitimate contendors so the Wings actually have some competition, JLA will be empty.

I think Joe Sakic is the best active captain in the league, and in the top 5 on the all time list. Classiest athlete in sports. For the Sheriff? He's a fan favorite but I personally wouldn't dress him for many games.
-
I get the feeling you're an *******.
-
Vernon pushed him over. I don't how that was an ass kicking. There as hardly a punch thrown .
-
Don't avoid it. Players like Pronger , Blake and Neidamayer can put up the points and lay the body..I have NEVER seen Lidstrom throw a check. He's one of the greatest defensemen to ever play the game , but thats one weakness in his game.
-
Thats arguable. Lidstrom racks up the points but his lack of physicality dooms the Wings come playoff time.
-
I thought the United Center held over 20,000? The official attendance was around 18,000 on NHL.com
-
Is it me or does Detroit generate almost all of their offense (even strength or powerplay ) by Lidstrom spanking it from the point and the Wings looking for rebounds?
-
I see your point, but the pressure for a winner in Toronto is unbelievable. Every little move is under the microscope, but unfortunately the media and fans care more about the team than MLSE.
-
Hockey Town is likely dead, but when was the last time the Hawks sold out a game? hehe just kidding . The Hawks have an excuse, Wirtz basically ran the Franchise into the ground, the fans haven't had much to cheer about. But watch out in the next few years, they'll be a force for sure.

I don't see how a packed arena/stadium would result in the team losing. Look at Red Sox and Yankees. How would Montreal have 26 Stanley Cups?
