Detroit coach Mike Babcock even addressed it in a news conference during the series, saying he knew people in his circle of friends who were experiencing hard times. That's why I think the singing of Don't Stop Believin' seems louder and more passionate this season. The Red Wings turn off the music after several bars and the fans sing acapella "born and raised in south Detroit" and it keeps going on and on and on. Perhaps to some, this is merely about having a good time at a hockey game. But I think to many, this song has become the symbol of pride and unity, sticking together during an economic downturn that seems like a depression to many in Michigan. Don't stop believing is both the title and the message. The symbolism in this song just happened, born out of the distress of economic hardship, and I think it's going to become one of Detroit's most beloved traditions. Maybe I'm reading too much into a song, but when I watch the passion fans have when they sing that song, it doesn't feel like I am.

something i just found out the other day was that Dan Bylsma was a checking 4th liner on the Anahiem team that Babcock coached to finals in 2003! now can you imagine this guy rookie coach, comes in mid season from 10th place to finals of Cup against Babcock who is coach of the year, 4x 50 win seasons, cup champion etc.. and beats him!!! what an embarassment to Babcock.

my concern is how bad nick looks out there.. looks slow/tired/hurt etc. he has no power getting pucks out, and makes mental mistakes all of a sudden. and rafalski keeps giving him suicide passes doesnt help his cause.

not sure if anyone noticed last night on the CBC feed, just as 2nd period was going to start.. they showed a shot of the wings bench with babcock leaning over talking to a linesman and franzen was laughing sitting on the bench. babcock sees/hears this and gives franzen a shot and rips into him. franzen quickly did the "big gulp in his throat". weird that this is the first time i saw something like this, especially after that Roenick story.

relax .. just making an observation. in the 4 years babcock has been the coach i have not once seen him get into a wings player (and i have watched every single game).. then this J.R. story comes out how he mistreats his players and the next game i see him giving it to one of their stars.
