Final Forward Spot: Skill or Muscle?

I see your avatar as a potential captain down the road. At the very least a first line playmaker with an "A".

    Pictures of Lidstroms House

For the money Lidstrom has been making and for the length of time he's been making it, thats a very modest set up. He must have 75 million in the bank, almost like Sundin I would suspect.

Yzerman hints at career beyond Red Wings,

IMO, he may already be more capable of handling a GM role than a few GM's around the league (Vancouver for one example). You can't stop a great man from moving up. But yes, it's sad to think of him anywhere other than the Detroit Red Wings. But just because he may leave someday, doe not mean that he won't return some other day.

Thanks for showing me yet again why I love this forum.

    Zetterberg ranked #1

WOW. What a great dilema to have: which of our three players in the top ten should be the highest ranked? Listenning to Vancouver sports radio, they are worried that they won't make the playoffs again and the poll question is are they better than last year? They complain that no one wants to came to Vancouver and here we are with players taking discounts to play in Detroit. Build it (a winner, that is) and they will come. Go Wings.

    Where do you play?

I got the idea while watching her play coed indoor soccer. She's hardnosed, very quick, aggressive, very protective of her goalie's space, and loves to go after the guys. Great natural instincts, including rubbing guys out into the boards, steal the ball and kick a hard around. It dawned on me that she knew how to skate and I was looking to play in two leagues already anyway. It didn't take much to convince her that she'd have fewer bruises from ice hockey than indoor coed soccer. While she had a limited overall skill set, ( stick handling skills were never more than average for the league) she masterred some D basics, became really solid and consistant, and the team loved her. Everyone knew exactly what to expect from her. Her first name is Jen, and her nick name quickly became "The Jenerator". We were so busy at that point in our lives, that hockey was real quality time for us. And I never knew a neck protector would look so sexy on a chick. Thanks for your interest, Z. I'll always look back on those years and smile.

    Where do you play?

Hah, glad ya liked it. IF I get the scanner hooked up I can scan the photos of our team pic with the Sportsplex Cup! I'll have to see if her family took pics of our first championship game. Otherwise, no one is really around to take pics.

    Where do you play?

I haven't played in two seasons (sprained a knee mountain biking and never got back into it). Played at the Sportsplex in Bellingham, Wa. on a few teams in multiple leagues including The Black Aces (two titles), The Wings (Spring league title), The Sharks, and a company sponsored team (Tero). Usually play D, but I really like playing wing. A few years ago my Fiancee and I were paired together on D, and had a stretch of 14 games unscored upon. She's a great stay at homer, very protective of her goalie's crease and pinches like a lobster!

    Red Wings Preview....Yahoo...

Thanks for posting, it s a good article. "Valtteri Filppula has had no pressure in terms of development, and he patiently has earned his minutes from fourth-line ice time to now being penciled in at the No. 2 spot between Swedish wingers Johan Franzen and Tomas Holmstrom." Have I missed something? Is this an accurate statement meaning the first line is ZDHossa?

I had CI Online last season 90 minutes up the road from you in B'ham. Hope they haven't changed something this season.

Yeah they show the Wings. Center Ice doesn't get all the playoffs, so I have to go there sometimes for playoff games. Wow, Bellingham is about as different from Miami as you can get. WWU has traditionally had a good club team (no NCAA Hockey around here). I've seen them put up over 75 shots on goal against the Huskies, and my buddy scored 5 goals in one night. Good luck with your move.

Hossa skates with the team, feels right at home...

Thanks for rthe article. Can't wait, one more month. Like how they gratuitously asked Kopecky some questions there at the end.

Bellingham has the Quarterback Pub in Sehome Village, by REI and Starbucks (what else would you expect), on the edge of campus. Welcome to town> Maybe i'll see you at the rink, riding on Galbraith, white water paddlin on the Noocksack, or boardin at Baker.

Hossa arrives in Detroit on Friday

Every cloud has a silver lining: My summer blew by way too fast, but that means training camp is about a week away! You get the feeling like its gonna be 2002 all over again, when they dominated. And I know it can't be like that, but I can't help it. Wohoo!

    What will happen more frequently?

The fact thats its already been played is still not their biggest challenge in winning the 2008 Super Bowl.

I'm sick and tired of the lions not getting the respect and credit they deserve. Its not easy not winning a championship for 50 years. It takes a lot of effort. You've got to be disciplined to be that mediocore. Lets face it, even the Bears screwed up and had a great season in 84. Yeah yeah, everyone braggs about the WIngs and their namby pamby 17 consecutive years of playoffs. Hay, we're talking 50 years her! Most of you kids weren't even a sparkle in mom's eye the last time the Lions won a championship. The Ford family should be commended for their unwavering committment to mediocrity. I say 7 wins.

Players You're Glad Didn't Win It...

I don't really care why players wanted to leave, just that they indeed wanted to leave. Well, don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out, and make sure you finish your 18 holes of golf before the finals games start so you can see were you could have been, and what you could have raised. No hatred, but yeah, I take a certain amount of pleasure in it. Bertuzzi, Schneider, Markov, Feds, but I take more pleaure in the fact that Drake, Mac, Downey, and Captain Lidstrom and everyone else got to raise it. I take more pleasure in the fact of Hossa coming here cause he wants to raise it than I do in the fact that Crosby didn't raise it. I think its a worth while thread.
