Bobby Nadeu didn't really seem to be into it like Jonny Roy. I'm not a big Roy fan, but WTF was Nadeu doing just kicking back on his net like it was kool aid time or something? HE's gotta know what a nut little Roy is, and he sees him doing the center ice dance, WTF was he thinking? He just sat there and let him ram right into him at full speed and took it all. IMHO, the charges must stem from: a) Nadeu is obviously a bit of a puss, so thats his logical next step. b) Nadeu has some dental work or hospital bills that will only get paid if he presses assault charges. But what do I know, I've been in more than a few fights, but no law suits. Edit: How did we make it two pages before anyone posted a video of the fight?

August 1st is the date that many Sweden NHL players start training hard for training camp. Mats wanted to start with them if he was going to play. Hence the Aug 1 date. He has a Fiancee, no kids, no home in Toronto; just has had an apartment all these years. He is reported to have 100million dollars in the bank. How different would it be to have 113 million than 100 million? The way he seems to spend money, probably not that different. He has stated that he wants to be a difference maker on a cup team, not just tag along for the ride.

Can't stand the Nashville guys.

I am a big Jerome Iginla fan. Some one above used the word fiesty, and that nails it. He is fiesty. He is more fiesty than Z, but do not mistake that as being tougher. Z is tough. Z is Red Wing tough, defined as :"you can beat on me all you want; it won't stop me from doing my job". I really like Iginla, but there is no way I would trade Zetterberg to get him. No way.

Stevie Y just had an interview with the Team 1040 Vancouver as he was inducted into the BC HOF. Afterwards, the announcers were talking about how everyone knew Yzerman was great, but they "didn't realize just how great he was until 2002". "On one knee, he wins Gold in Salt Lake City for us, then he comes to Vancouver and again on one knee he is borderline dominant in the playoff series then goes on to win the Stanley Cup. He was unbeleivable!"

Hah, I was gonna say "Spoken like a single man".

If you named teams from the states where the players grew up, would Michigan be any good? Not players from other states that went to college in Michigan, but guys that grew up there. I know there's a lot, but I just can't think of them right now. What US state would be better than Michigan? In North America, of course Ontario would rule, but then who, Quebec? BC? Rafalski, Abdelkader, Hatcher, Modano, Weight, Ryan Miller...do we have enough to ice a full squad?

African descent. Grier Iginla Carter Larague Brashears Mayers Weekes/Emery First line definitely has some scoring punch, and the second line definitely has some...scoring punch. Edit: (Aaron) Spelling

Anson Carter played at Michigan State= easy mistake to make.

Wow, nice work. And a pretty impressive team. They would have to fare well against any other state.

May I make a suggestion? Get there early enough to see the pregame skate; not the morning skate, but the pregame, a little before the anthems. Sit behind the wings net, about 6-8 rows up. You will not believe the drills they do. The Canucks will be doing some basic stuff, but the Wings seem like they have 6 different goups doing different drills all on the same ice together and its totally cool how they fly at high speed and and don't crunch each other. It looks best from behind the net. On your way thru Bellingham, wave to your right as you pass the Lakeway exit, I live up on the hill and will be watching the game. About that time, tune your radio to am 1040 for game talk.

I played on an all-star baseball team in grade school with Pat Lafontaine when I lived in Union Lake and he lived in Waterford, Mi. More recently, my brother bought used goalie pads at the Waterford "Play It Again Sports" or whatever its called, and they were the old brown ones and had hand written "Lafontaine" on them.

Try asking on the canucks forum or maybe ask Vancouver's Team 1040 radio station. Incidently, its downtown Vancouver, not downtown British Columbia. Where will you be travelling from?
-
New York looks like their top two lines might take our top two lines. Whaddya think? Edit: I guess we'd need to decide on "all time", "present day" or "current & recent" (which of course could include Pat Lafontaine) Originally Iguess I was thinking "current rosters" based on fantasy hockey numbers, who would win?

Is Hudler really that much smaller than, say, Scotty Gomez? Wikipedia has Gomez listed at 5'11" 200, can that be true?

The purpose of the 3rd jersey is MERCHANDISING and don't let anyone ever tell you any differently.
-
The best throwback uni's in all of pro sports belong to the Detroit Lions. There's are awesome. Oh, and the Wings should try a black 3rd jersey, with red winged wheel.

Yeah, I hope somehow there was a lesson learned there or something.

Pheeew, I feel so much better. Thank You.

Serious question: When the Wings were beaten by Anaheim in round one of '03, were they getting traffic infront of Gigere? I would rather have the ability to have two lines of (2)skilled (1)Big body netpresence, than to put all our eggs in one hgihly skilled basket with no major netpresence, and a second skilled line with netpresence. Meaning, of corse, I think Holmer has to stay, and mostly on the first line. Think of it, you put the Hero line out for a while and the opponent is overwhelmed by speed and skill, but maybe the goalie is so jacked like they always are against the Wings, that he stands on his head. OK, now throw Holmer infront of him on one shift with Dats and Z firing from everywhere, then Franzen in front of him on the second shift with Hossa and Filp firing away. They can't be prepared for all that!

Red Wing fans are thinking "what if they play this line combo and that line combo, OMG!" Red Wing opponents are thinking "what if they play this line combo and that line combo, OMG!
-
Its a tough call. The two clear options IMO are: Zetterburg Datsyuk Holmstrom Hossa Filp Franzen or go ahead and split up Zetterburg and Datsyuk as discussed so many times last year: Hossa Datsyuk Holmstrom Zetterburg Filp Franzen But on the occasion that its the Hero Line of Hossa Datsyuk Zetterburg then Holmer and Franzen need to be split up Holmer Filp Cleary Franzen Draper Maltby (Helm?!!?). Just distracted by the thought of Stuart and Kronner as the 2nd D-Line, OMFG!

And thats just the loans that we know he's defaulted on. One would think he has other loans that he is still paying on, and probably quite sizable.
-
Whats $6million after taxes, $3.25 or something? We know he's got loan payments on $1.5m and $500k for starters. You can blow $500k on a Ferrari these days, and we all know (from Hockeytown 3) how much Sergie likes his Ferraris. A four car garage can easily fit $1.5 mill. Yeah, I got plenty of money, but I'm not going to pay my loan payments to the bank. (?) Its actually really easy to spend a lot of money. No matter how much money you make, its easy to spend it faster than you are making it.
