Yet another reason why I don't idolize or worship anyone just because they are professional athletes or celebrities of some sort. I never watch baseball on tv, but a client took 7 of us to SafeCo Field in Seattle. I was sitting 10 rows behind the right hand batter's box. As these guys from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico, and who knows where else, kept stepping up to bat, the only thing I could think was "This frikkin guy is a multi- millionaire". Good for them that a lot of people want to sit on there asses (self included) and watch them play whatever game it is they play. It all sells a lot of beer and cars. If a professional athlete plays his cards right, he can become his very own corporation: a "competitive monopoly". For example there are a lot of defensive backs in the NFL, but there was only one Dion Sanders. And he put people in the seats. He made himself standout from the average Dback, so that he was different. He knew that no matter how gifted he was, defensive backs don't make as much as quarterbacks. They're only worth so much. Dennis Rodman was just a hardworking, rebounding madman and defensive specialist when he was in Detroit. But then Modonna got a hold of him and she taught him about marketing himself, and he became a competitive monopoly; way different than anybody else. Yeah, the business side of sports and music could really bother me if i let it. Good for Sergei that he's got some financial BS to deal with, so do a lot of people I know. Sorry for the rant. Sort of sorry that is.

Wow, congrats to you, you have my dream job! Here's how I see it: Scene opens on Z's locker, wider angle to zoom, "Zetterberg" on locker stall and "Easton" on helmet standout obvious (or reverse order tight on Easton then widen out from there). His forearm muscles flex as he pulls his skate laces tight. Wraps tape around stockings. Dons the helmet like the warrior that he is. Cut to skating, then giving the big hits you're talking about. Then show Z on one of his patented steals off a forecheck, has the puck and is dangling while taking hits, then a goal to show that with the Easton helmet on, you can't stop him. Good luck, if I come up with anything worth value, I'll post it. How can we see your final product?

Agreed. Some people have lives and don't spend all frikkin day on the internet. DOesn't mean they know less about the Wings or like them less. Besides, plenty of LGW members would agree with packing Huds and Sammy. I agree its a stupid idea, but don't play the recent signee" card.

And they were both going for the puck, it was a foregone conclusion that there would be a collison of some sort. Moore was in the better position, Nazzie was stretched out and left himself exposed. Moore tucked and tried to explode. I posted somwhere earlier, too bad Bertuzzi didn't learn how to chase someone down from Probert. Just turn the guy toward you. Whatch the end of the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4Va5JB-5sU

Its painfully obvious to me, Bertuzzi drove him into the ice. Moore's hit on Naslund wasn't that bad. Yes it deserved a good hit or a good smackin around but not a couple of different rounds here and there. Yes it was a head shot, but wind the ******* thing back in when going thru the nuetral zone! Just another case of the Canucks identity crisis. This is the only video I could find, obviously produced by a Bertuzzi supporter. Living near Vancouver, I've seen the video a thousand times. Nazzie was overextended in the nuetral zone going for the puck and tell me Kronner, Drake, Stuart, Vladdy is his day, and many others would not have attempted the same hit. Seriously, what was so bad about this hit? ****** bag or not, what was so bad about this particular hit? The fact of the matter is , they tried going after Moore earlier, it didn't quite work, and they were getting their asses kicked, so they needed something to rally behind and Crawford and Bertuzzi thought the Moore hit only Nazzie was all they really had, so play the Moore card again and maybe it will spark our team. It was lame, and turned out disastrous for more than just Moore. The entire Canucks orgaization is embarrassed by it, it was a turning point for them. Nazzie, Morrison, Bertuzzi line struck fear into the hearts of Detroiters before this happenned. Its been six years since Bertuzzi was great. He had more "great" time and at a "greater" level than most NHL'ers. He'll never be great again. And BTW; a good shoulder hit means that the shoulder makes contact first, and the power comes from the elbow following thru. You can hardly shoulder soemone without the elbow flying up afterward. There is a big difference between hitting someone with a flying elbow to the head, and the elbow following thru after a good shoulder hit. Thats why Moore's hit wasn't that bad. His elbow is following thru, he didn't use it as the weapon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKeXMugPZVA Edit: IF that hit by Moore had been on, say, Stevie Y, instead of Naslund, you can believe Stevie Y would not have been sitting there at center ice waiting for the trianer to come out and dab him with a wash cloth. HE would have made his way to the bench one way or another.

Uhh, I've been a Wings fan for over 30 years, but I didn't find this forum until last year sometime. Maybe this guy has a real life, not just a virtual life. But please, continue to be quick to judge based on a small amount of fact.

I played on an all star baseball team in the 70's with Pat Lafontaine. (now back to our regularly scheduled program)

Please let me direct your attention over here: http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52205 And if this thread was such an epic fail, how'd it last three pages? Good thread. Name the lines each of the guys was playing on in each of the seasons.

According to the Team 1040 Vancouver, he was due to make $900,000 next year with one year left on is contract. His deal with Ufa is $13,000,000.00 over the next 3 years (could've been 4 yrs, but I think it was 3) TAX FREE. Yeah, if thats me, of course I'm going.

Yeah, there's definitely no laptop scanning the ice at our local rink! Sounds like a great experience. Thanks for the story.

Good points, on all accounts.
-
Good stuff, Bro. Thanks for the lank.

And to have the flexiblity to mix up the top two lines like that, moving Hossa up and down, Zetterburg up and down, Holmstrom...OMG its gonna be one exciting season.

OR, scenario 2: San Jose falls, just worn out and lost confidence after the Wings own them over and over again. Jerome Iginla finds the magic to awaken Bersnoozie. 1. Detroit 2. Calgary 3. Dallas 4. Chicago 5. San Jose 6. Minnesota 7. Phoenix 8. Colorado Yeah, thats more like it. Pin this post, boys.

Oh, and I vote for Chelios to wear the C when Lidstrom finally retires.

This supply of emoticons cannot begin to express how hard I laughed at that!!!

That, my friend, is one sic line. Can't wait to see the first game. If that is the first line, what do you think of the "would be second line" then, Holmer, Filp, and Franzen? Would that work, or are Holmer and Franzie too similar to have on the ice together?
-
Yeah. And he looks more Asian than Russian! Whats up with that? Zetterburg, Datsyuk, I'm so sure.
-
Obviously, you are paraphrasing. First off, Chelios is more effective on the ice than Ericsson, otherwise, Holland and Babcock would not have him on the ice. 2ndly, would you like to see 2 inexperienced d men teamed up together, so they can both make mistakes at the same time over and over again for a few years until they start to figure it out? Or would you work in a new guy with an effective, 3 time Norris trophy winner, who has multiple Stanley Cups, and more playoff games than just about everyone else in the world? One in the hand is worth two in the bush. Chelios is a known entity (one in the hand) and still more effective than Ericsson and Quincey ( the two still in the bush).
