Ken Campbell: Expect Hossa to Stay

Bingo. If you use the old 65 c US looney exchange, then thats a revenue increase of 35% for the Canadian teams without doing a thing. Its cyclical, so they have to know its not going to last forever.

    Lowe does it again

Heard the Lowe clip regarding Burke, (and the Burke clips, for that matter) on the Team 1040 today (Vancouver). They said he's usually pretty tight lipped, and it did sound like he'd had a few wobbly pops . Whats a summer without some chirpin'? Have at it, boys. And hey Detroit, you're not alone. I think Vancouver is one of the coolest cities in the world. And as much as I like the city of Vancouver, its got its marvelous must see places too. Like Hastings St., location of the government sponsored free injection sites. Don't get me wrong; Vancouver does not compare to Detroit. But of course, most major ciites have their share of blight. I've driven through more than a few times just out of curiosity (Economics major, Political Science minor). It looks like a movie of drugged out zombies, for blocks. Really sad. This guy is one of the alert ones. Most that I've seen are zombied out.

    Norris Trophy 08-09

To the Detroit Red Wings, the GREATEST TEAM ON EARTH, and to Hockeytown, the GREATEST FANS ON EARTH!!! Beer toasty guys all around on me!

    Norris Trophy 08-09

If the Red Wing players were to vote, wouldn't it be a tie between Nickleback and Abba?

    Norris Trophy 08-09

Its threads like this one that keep me coming back in the summertime. And to think I've past it by many times because I thought that due to the title of the thread, the content wouldn't interest me. How can a hockey forum not have a beer toasting emoticon?

Hmm. So you're saying that Harvey was the pioneer, hence, revolutionize, while Orr simply took it to another level. Hmm. Valid point, sir, vaild point indeed. Edit: (Tori) Spelling

    Norris Trophy 08-09

So you're saying that "mindset" is one thing, but "dominance" is certainly another thing. Hmmm. Valid point. Gmr, back to you, Sir.

    Norris Trophy 08-09

Lidstrom is my preseason vote, for whatever thats worth. More than a couple guys could have a great season and win it. Orr was awesome. Lidstrom is incredible; he''ll be in the conversation, thats for sure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRcvrUF5l7Y...feature=related Edit: Orr makes me think of a college athlete back at high school for the holidays, just toying with the high school kids: a man among boys. Lidstrom reminds me of NFL quarterback Roger Starbach: quiet, polite, classy, composed, will tie you up in knots and score on you in a second.

Grossey Pointey; he could buy John Salley's old house. One of the strangest places on earth; crossing over from Detroit into Grosse Pointe. The Ghetto and the very rich, seperated by a cinder block wall.

    Do We Want Chelios Back?

3 time norris trophy winner While Lidstrom is busy with the opponents first line and quarterbacking the power play, Chelios is defending, and holding the hand of the young'ens. Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronner, Stuart and Chelios are the defensemen that Stanley Cup Champions are made of. That combination reaks of Dynasty! Young players will learn exponnentially faster with Chelios sitting on the bench with them, giving them a clinic between shifts and pointing out what the on ice defensemen are doing that is working. He's a freakin bargain at $850K

    Bertuzzi a Flame

At the risk of divulging my own ignorance , isn't Keenan a total prick to play for? And Bertuzzi has the single most fragile psyche in all the National Hockey League; you've got to baby this guy with props and little confidence boosting, esteem building tid bits all day? Seems like a match made in Hell.

Ken Campbell: Expect Hossa to Stay

I'll put $ on it. I've had a hunch that this would be a one year test drive to see how everything fits.

    Morrison signed by Ducks

Heard it today on Vancouver's Team 1040. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=242774&amp...os=secStory_nhl Fill the gap left by Doug Weight. While in Detroit back in '02 at my nephew's game, I overheard Chelios talking with some guys and he said something to the effect that as Morrison goes, so go the Canucks. He was the heart and soul of the Big Line (Naslund and Bertuzzi). I never really saw it that way from my armchair, but I don't doubt the things I hear Chris Chelios say regarding his competitors. Good luck, Mo.

    Lowe Rips Burke

Uhh, whats BFF? Burke has made himself into a bit of a spectacle, with his attitude, and along the way he also has made himself an easy guy to dislike. And this is a Red Wing site, meaning to a degree it certainly will be anti-Ducks in general.

    Lowe does it again

Ah, Ft. Ponchatrain. Detroit is a case study in socio-economics. It really does have an illustious history. The only major city to be considered for the title of America's Capital by three different country's: France, Britain, and the US. Once a powerful and prosperous world class city, everyone who could get out, has gotten out (including myself). Its a truly sad state of affairs, voted most miserable city by Forbe's magazine. http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2008/02/12/Det...49161202860250/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oYmJGg65Uo

My original? No its your original, I just kinda took it one step further. Oh, you mean you're original, sorry. You were being sarcastic, weren't you?

    Why Pens fans hate Hossa

Not the same. Fedorov was a long time Red Wing. The Wings and he both risked a lot so he could get here. Thye both enjoyed much success together. There was a big history. Hossa was a rental in Pitt. When interviewed no one says "I won't mind coming back to Pittsburgh if I can't get my dream of going to Detroit to come true". I don't blame you guys for being bumbed out, but ya can't blame Hossa either. I didn't blame Bersnoozie or Schneider, but I do enjoy the fact that they both jumped ship and lost out on the Cup.

What I find more annoying about people that complain about these threads are the people that complain about the people that complain about these threads (though TBH I don't find this thread that annoying anyway)

    Hossa

Hossa has wanted to be a Red Wing. I know this has been linked already, but its a great interview. (Living near Vancouver, you really appreciate how professional Holland is: Burke, Nonis, and already Gillis have all been nothing but very defensive[/i] in every interview I've ever seen them in.)

    Interesting Fedorov Article

Yeah, I'd have to agree. I like Feds, but I am definitely not his biggest fan on the forum. Whatever, but I certainly don't want to see him get trashed for something he didn't say. Seems like Lynsenkov is meddling.

    Pittsburgh press, more lunacy

I agree that the Wings "could be"; only time will tell. Thats why I'm buying a big flatscreen with surround sound for next season. The Pens are going to get better, too. Lets face it, they are young. No matter what you think of Crosby and Malkin, they're still children. The problem is that Thierren is going to hold back their maturation process with tirades like the "Osgood diving" rant. The personality of the team starts at the top down. What does that do for a team when the coach spends all his time whining and trying to make excuses? You should have heard the Vancouver radio sports talk guys imitating Thierren: "The reason we lost da game was because Osgood was diving. The reason our guys could not keep up with Detroit was because Osgood was diving. The reason we could not backcheck Detroit is because Osgood was diving. The reason the Red Wings always had the puck and we never saw it was because Osgood was diving. The reason Detroit could alwasy find good passing lanes was because Osgood was diving". When the coach is that immature, how can the players be expected to mature.
