I don't know how desperate he is to win the Cup, but he can certainly light the lamp, thats for sure. I do think he'd get a little more jump outta playing with the Red Swedes and leaving the C to Lidstrom. He'd find a nice home on the second line, providing a constant second line threat. Operative word: cheap. As with Bertuzzi. Has anyone from the Canucks core group of a couple years ago been snatched up yet?
-
Yes, but playing two more years and making another 20 million dollars. Sheesh, thats something to sleep on alright.
-
Maybe now Chicago will beat somebody besides Detroit.

Seriously, its Gillis' only chance, Vancouver is desperate. They need an immediate impact and Sundin would give them that. He would give them an instant first line so they could put the Sedins back on the second line where they belong. Naslund, or his replacement if he leaves, will play with Sundin, as would Morrison's replacement. Sure they would over pay him by a lot, but he would be a big draw to get someone else out to Vancouver. A 2 yr deal is long enough to get a shot while Luongo is still there, but short enough that it won't mortgage the future. Mr Squidgy (aka Kyle notso Wellwood) had his best season playing with Matsy. Yes, I know its hard to digest, but the Canucks best options are Leafs's castoffs.

I'm sick and tired of all this Bertuzzi bashing! You ungrateful little pricks! How can you forget the major contribution Bertuzzi gave to the wings: At road games, the opponents fans would get so tired from booing Bertuzzi everytime he got the puck, they didn't have enough wind left to boo Chelios! Bertuzzi totally got CHelios off the hook at away games. Thats a huge benefit for the Wings! Edit: Ohhh God, I'm funny.

I really like Brendan SHanahan. Don't see a point to bringing him back though. We don't need Avery's distractions. Bringing back Fedheadcase would be awkward for everyone. Bertuzzi could possibly recover to his glory self of '02, but I his baggage isn't worth the gamble. Who would sit so LaPointe could play? Play McCarty, Helm, and Abdelkader. If Bertuzzi ends up back in Detroit, I'll roll with it. Same with Fed's I s'pose.
-
No doubt. I live south of Vancouver. I look at the Canucks and say " Who the hell are these guys, they got nobody!" Then ya look at the Wings and say, "Who the hell are you gonna sit, they're all good!" We need to roll 5 lines with 4 lines of D. (That'll create match up problems)

I agree. He's a cancer. Ottawa was a machine on a huge roll. What stopped it? Cancer. And cancer spreads, no matter how strong a team is. Don't touch him. He made his bed, let him lye in it. There are enough "winners" out there, guys that will be devoted to the team, so there's no sense getting a bad apple.

I'd play wth ZERO passion too if I had to play for the Canucks!
-
I would consider him as an option as well, although I'm not totally excited for the same reasons already posted. I would think that the Red Wing Swedes are familiar enough with Naslund to give valuable input in the decision making process.

Came across this old video of Wings/ Blackhawks. Not too much fighting, but the narration is spot on as usual. Mickey Redmond is priceless. How would Bertuzzi's life and career (and Moore's) be different today if he would have had the sense to chase Moore the way Proby chased Roenick. (Probert had the sense to turn Roenick around to face him). McCarty, the rookie, jumps in to take Wilkinson, the third man in, off Proby's back. Can see him literally draggin Wilkinson out of the pile like a dog on a pull toy. An early example of why Detroit loves McCarty. Good stuff to tide us over for the summer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4Va5JB-5sU

And thats probably after being out all night, not from a hockey game! Yeah, it sure sounded like Mick to me on my laptop, but I guess not. I agree, it was tough watching Probert in a Blakhawks uni, going against Kocur, McCarty, and even Shanahan.

Tack for da linken to da hockey bloggen. Yeah, Naslund could be a good fit as a second line sniper with Mule and Filp or CLeary or a lot of the Wings. I agree with his need to not carry the C. While he can be play a major role in a teams success and provide leadership in general, I think he would welcome less spot light.

Scott Niedermayer Has Decided To Play Again Next Year

And this? -
Whoa, am I missing something here? An enforcer? WTF or who TF did he ever enforce? A replacement for Dally? Dally is a very well respected veteran hockey player who hits. Bert once in a while gets upset with somebody and gets a bad penalty for hitting late or slashing. More often than not he skates around like he could give two s***s and ends up pulling out somebody's rebound and putting over the goalie's glove with his soft hands. Not too much work for ya was it, Bert? Would hate to make ou sweat or over extend your physical self. Sheesh. Sure he could work in Detroit, but Detroit can say that for 50% of the players in the league. Oh well, if Detroit picks him up, I'd cheer for him and want him to do well. Personally I think Huddler has a lot more guts and tuffness than Bertuzzi.
-
Now thats good VALUE! Who'd Detroit get him from, anyway?
-
1. Weren't those two like a minus 47 in their prime with the knuckleheads? 2. Which two Red Wings are you going to move to make room for these clowns? 3. You should get a 5 minute misconduct for that post!
-
Good point. Bertuzzi's significance came from being in front of the net, not unlike Holmer. While infront of the crease, Bert's big move was to cross check the defensemen infront of him just as the puck was coming, then he was free to tap it in. Tapes of his "move" were even sent to Toronto for veiwing by the NHL by complaining coaches. Sure he had more talents than that, but you are right, he's too tentative around the net, now. That was a huge part of his game, and a big part of the success of the Bert, Mo, Nazzi line. In all fairness, when that line was "on" they were downright frightening. But that chemistry has gone away, those days are gone for all three of them.
-
Yeah, that dude seems like a drama queen. Just say no to Emery.
-
Well, its not at all what I was thinking, but after reading your post it certainly makes sense. Is there anyone more conniving than Brian Burke? Isn't Bertuzzi's family in Hamilton or Sudbury or somehere a only a couple hours from Toronto?
-
Edit: Todd Bertuzzi is not a Character guy, and certainly not a Class guy. He thinks too much, and that's not a good thing when you think as slow as he does, and make the bad decisions he does.
-
That was a good read, thanks for the heads up.

And they were a crossbar away from losing in Mystery, Alaska. Sheesh.

Chicago, and I hope this year Chicago starts beating someone other than Detroit.
