I know what ya mean. Last year he was friggin awesome, and I really found myself cheering for the things he did.. This year, I keep finding myself cheering for the things I want him to do. I think his style of play ( really agressive with reckless abandon) is definitely hampered by the healing jaw. All those hits just ring right thru the jaw, man. Thats a really creepy pain, too, not an easy one to play with. And mask or no mask, he's still really vunerable. He's got guts for playing with that deal.

See how close we were to getting Edles instead of Franzen. If Andersson, the awesome European scout, wasn't "lazy" that day, other teams wouldn't have found out about Edler, so we would have drafted him instead of Franzen. But Vancouver did, so they drafted him right before Detroit was going to draft him. So Detroit took the next guy on their list; The Mule. So, we'd have yet another great defensive prospect in GR, and no Johan Franzen! Dude, thats good s***. We were that close! And lucked out. In the words of Dickey V, "Serendipity, Baby!" Now that I summed it up for ya, doesn't it make for a good point? Don't you like to know how we got who we got? It takes a lot of work to build a team of this caliber. I mean, how the hell can you tell what a 20 yr. old kid is going to be like 5 years down the road. That article's good s***, dude.

Sounds like someone needs a hug because Detroit has a statue of a real boxing champion and all you have is a statue of a fictional movie character boxing champion. If you be nice, maybe Detroit fan will promise NOT to put a Pistons jersey on fake boxing champion statue.
-
Yeah great point. I agree. Hey, thanks for posting the article. Good stuff. Can you imagine not even beiing in the NHL and seeing Yzerman, Lindros, Foote, and, who was the other one, Sack-itch (?) across the redline stretching out before the game. Holy crap.
-
The Habs or The Penguins would be a very exciting series.
-
Yeah, everyone likes Rocky! And why isn't there a Pistons jersey on that statue?!?
-
Hey, nice avatar.

I've been paying attention but have always read that he did have to auction his rings. This is the first I've seen to the contrary. Good that he got to keep them.
-
Yeah, too small, squeezes the stick too tight, won't go into the dirty areas of the ice, never really notice that he's out there, and the guys and fans don't really like him. I mean c'mon, just look at his numbers. Trade him.

Duck Guy, YOU are the classiest thing about the Ducks organization. I too was hoping for another Ducks Wings showdown. It is somewhat gratifying, though, that with all Burke's manuevering and scheming ( bringing back the well rested ringers Selanne and Neidermeiher, ad getting his old boy Bert and getting Schneids, I feal like they should actually be embarressed big time to be out in the first round. Well, this way Burke can get an early start in Toronto, and Bertuzzi can get an early start looking for a house in Toronto. Poll question: Will they make the playoffs next year?

Saw it on CBC. They simply didn't make eye contact and stepped past each other. I want the Ducks to win. I want the best team to win the Stanley Cup. I want the Wings to beat the Ducks for the West, then beat Montreal for Lidstrom to be first to raise Lord Stanley's Cup. But it won't totally break my heart for Turco to shut them down.
-
Agreed. As much as I would love to get pissed at Tootoo, there's nothing there. And make no mistake, I HATE THAT LITTLE f*****.
-
According to Vancouver radio guys, the Florida GM had a major woody for Bertuzzi, so they aren't givin him much credit for that one.
-
Driving around for work today, listening to Vancouver sports talk, 90% of the callers wanted Ken Holland (a British Columbia native) or Scotty Bowman, or Jim Nil to be the new GM in Cunuckville. Some wanted Holland to bring Yzerman, others wanted Bowman to bring Yzerman. The radio guys say that Holland has won everything in Detroit, he must be getting bored and ready for a new challenge, and since he's a BC boy, and Jim Nil is ready to take over, and Yzerman is being groomed, it just makes sense that Holland comes to Vancouver.

I always said that I truely believed there was no way in hell that Darren could ever make it back to the Red Wings. I would cheer for him on his way attempt, but ultimately believed he would not make it and be happy enough that he tried. That in itself would give him the new direction to try other things in his life and be somewhat successful Back in January, the "Chelios said about McCarty" thread, I posted- "Don't get me wrong, I loved Mac's time with Detroit. And I loved all my former girlfriends, too, but that doesn't mean that I want them back. " I'm suddenly thinking I may call up an old girlfriend tonite. Way to go Darren McCarty. Truely inspirational. GoWings, go!

Hey, nice read, thanks for posting it. BTW, bring back federov, eh! Wouldn't that be great? Do you think they will ever retire his number and hang his jersey from the rafters? Did you guys hear that the Flint Generals signed McCarty? Hah, like he's gonna make a comeback or something.

I agree that they were talking "mentally tough", which he is, to a degree. I would say he is more mentally disciplined than anything, though, because his pressures are internal (psyche, etc), not external. Mentally tough would be keeping your head and wits about you, keeping good form, making good split second decisions, as people are flying at you at 25mph trying to take your head off or ram you into the boards. Thats mentally "tough". Like Norris Nick. Nothing "tuff" about golf. Difficult; yes, tuff; no. Haley Wickenhauieauieaeiaeser (sp?), Yeah, tuffer than Tiger.

Naslund is not a leader; he is a very talented wet blanket. He will not be a canuck next year. I would not want to sacrifice anyones future for Nazzie on the Wings second line. Years ago, the Canucks should have tried to trade the farm for hometown boy Burnaby Joe; Joe Sakic, and built a dynasty around him. Instead they have been in a funk and have had a major inferiority complex. The Twins are a great second line. Put them back to the second line, and man, there is sure some rebuilding to do to that team. Linden was great; he won't be back. Luongo is great, trade away some of that so called depth on the D-Line for some scoring powers and let Luongo be the number one Dman. The Canucks hopes all went down the drain at the same time that Steve Moore's hopes went down the drain. They have not been the same team since.

Good stuff, man. Thanks

Thanks both of you. Thanks for asking for a link. Thanks for posting the link. I really enjoyed the game. Of course, I would have enjoyed it more with a win, but it is what it is. Thanks, big time, both of you.

Why go to GR, McCarty may as well suit up in the wheel like the rest of his GR teammates!

LGW has now officially sunk to the level of LetsgayBlues.
-
How is that not blatantly obvious to the NHL?

How do you know I have puking guy? Did you hack into my roster? Depending on your philosophy, I realize morning paper & coffee guy is more of a depth/special teams smilie, but if you want puking guy, then motorcycle roost guy is off the table.
