    Could Detroit trade Z?

You mean because there are not enough of his country men on the team? Because he has no set up guy to give him good passes? Because the team has no goalie? Would like to play with some older, more experienced guys? The front office is always on his case? No defense on the team? Not enough scoring on the team? Wants to play for a team that has more tradition? Yeah, I guess a case could be made that he would demand a trade.
  2. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH that was frikkin sah-wheet! Well done. Thanks for the laugh.

    Red Wings and Yzerman Duped

I'm sorry, but thats funny. The kid has a real life George Costanza for a father. Funny as hell on Sienfeld, not so funny in real life. Loser.

Lidstrom willing to make a call to Sundin

    Fun Wings Stats

I was going to post the same +- stats; its unbelievable! And I couldn't help notice that Pronger finally climbed out of the minus into a whopping +3 or something. But I'm sure he must play against the other teams best line every nite...kinda like Lidstrom... oh, but he is on the PK...oh, yeah, kinda like Lids...

    Holland On The Move?

I know who the next Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager is going to be. Its going to be Brian Burke. Cliff Ferguson's interim contract is for 19 months. WTF is 19 months? Nothing is 19 months. There is no standard time limit that equals 19 months. Brian Burke's contract with Analheim will be finished in 19 months. Brian Burke would love to be the next Leaf GM. And he will be. Look for him to trade the farm for Sundin this season to help him win this year, and to stock his team of the future. Remember, Burke was an attorney, he is crafty. He will ask to be let out of the last year of his contract right after their current season is over. If they let him go, he will take Bertuzzi with him. If they don't let him go, he will be in Toronto the following year. Yzerman will NEVER leave Detroit, as long as the Illitch family owns the Red Wings. Detroit made him almost as much as he made Detroit. He will learn the front office from the best, then someday he will take over the front office and once again be the best. He has 20-30 years left in Detroit. Burke hates the Red Wings. There will once again be a great rivalry between the Leafs and the Wings.

    OMG Thats halarious!

    1/22 GDT: Red Wings 3, Kings 0

The Kings announcers were trying really hard to put the jinx on Osgood; they must have said "shut out" at least 25 times in the last four minutes of the game

Should the wings retire Fedorov's number?

It happens when the first offer made is not a low ball offer to start the ball rolling, rather a legitimate absolute end of the budget good faith , we beleive in you and in our relationship, obviously or we wouldn't have done everything we have done for you and your family, and we are prepared to go to the wall with this offer, a rewarding type of offer that is met with a lackadasical cold shoulder "hmmph, I'll get back to you" attitude. So it gets reigned in a little. Big deal. But no, he has to pout about it, his delicate ego is hurt, so he loads up the Ferrari and drives to Cali. When management makes that type of offer and its met with a luke warm reaction at best, its easy to see why management can feel less secure in the relationship and reconsider the bottom line just a bit. It was still a hell of an offer. He was an idiot for not taking it, and he knows it now. Fedorov in Detroit; The young, skinny, cool Elvis. Fedorov after Detroit; The old, fat, Las Vegas Elvis

Should the wings retire Fedorov's number?

I'm afraid that the only way you'll be able to see Sergei's jersey hanging from the rafters is to buy one yourself and hang it in your attic.

If 4y/$40m is being pushed out the door, then PUSH ME OUT!

    Fedorov back on the wings?

2 things (maybe more if it takes me too long to type this and I think up some other points). Sergei was great in Detroit for a long time. Then his Dad started whining about him not getting more time on offense and he should be captain and wa wa wa. Then he didn't accept Detroits offer, but accepted basically the same offer from Analheim. Detroit fans often speak of career players here taking a home town discount. But not only did he argue about the contract, but then he left, too. Detroit fan grew weary of him and thought it a huge slap in the face to Detroit and Illitch. Hence da Boos! Now we tend to think the fact that he hasn't done s***e since he left Detroit is Karma. I'm good with leaving it at that. 2nd thing. Since its your idea (this time ,anyway) what would you say is fair value for this great addition of a defensive offensemen? What, who and/or how much do you think Detroit should give up or him? What type of salary would be fair to keep him? Give us this scenario so we can move forward in debating your grand plan. 3rd thing I just thought of: retire his number? I vote no. He has now played too long out of a Wings sweater for me to feel good about his jersey in the rafters. All jersey's raised from here on out have to be compared to Steve Yzerman's time in Detroit. And due to the fact that he didn't leave on the best of terms. If you really need to see it hanging from the rafters, instead of making another thread about that, just hang a Federov jersey in your attic. All these threads about former Wings coming back...I think they are started by guys who live in the past, "Glory days, they'll pass you by in the wink of a young girls eye, glory days". People come and they go, they move in and out of your life. Times change, Dragons live forever, but not so little boys. Its ironic, too, that out of all the these threads, the guy we did end up getting back didn't actually have a thread like this.

    Ken Daniels

Spot on. I think you're saying its a small point, but a point none the less. He throws in some of those stats, which is exactly what I liked about Ernie Harwell announcing baseball where you have time for that stuff, but hockey is way too fast for a lot of it. My nephew plays sports with Ken's kid in Clarkston. Overall, I think he, Murphy, and Mickey are great. Mickey's pretty good about objectively analysing other teams players while the game is going on and hands out praise where he sees fit. I like that.. I googled Old School NHLer Attititude and there was a link to Mickey Redmond.

    Darren McCarty Progress Thread

He was the perfect blend of "max grit" plus "above adequate skill and smarts". I think come spring time against Anaheim in the WCF, we still really need the type of player he was.

    1/19 GDT: Red Wings 6, Sharks 3

Yeah, the announcer could have atleast acknowledged the skate to skate contact from Sharkie to Dom. And I'm sick of the bad luck line the announcers are stuck on; if the puck wouldn't have careened off Sharkie's stick, one of the wings was right there at the GAPER to tap it in, anyway, while Nabby was overcome by the flurry in his zone.

Not that I'm a Sammy basher, but that was one of his best plays so far( nudging Rissmiller into a full on collision with Setoguchi.)

The Wings are just amazing the way they move the puck. Its poetry in motion.

"Always a big nite when the Winged Wheel comes to town" They pay respect to the Wings, but they still have that baseball announcer sound, somehow. I like the overhead cameras behind the net. Looks down on the battles on the board and shows what those guys have to go through back there.

I don't get it, has he been playing good or bad? I think you mean to say he's been playing well. Yes?

    Fedorov 5 goals vs. Washington - 1996

I guess we need a new Red Wings souvenier bumper sticker that says something like "If you love a player, set them free. He'll return if it was meant to be". We sure seem to get a lot of this "hope he'll come back and retire a Red Wing stuff...not that I'm rippin on it, we just seem to get more than our fair share, thas all. Who was the coach in Anaheim who said "what do ya gotta do to get this guy to score? Everyone thinks Burke is a genius for actually being able to move Fedorov AND his ginormous salary.

Geez O Petey, everybody, Bertuzzi at one time was absolutely dominant and nobody knew that better than Ken Holland and the Wings. The guy could be unstoppable at times. Sure he was a head case, but given the right atmosphere, etc., unlimited potential. How could you not make the trade. Goshy, do ya think Naslund might miss laying with Bert just a little bit? He was worth the gamble. TFB. Yes, of course its a bit painful that Mathias is now a stud, and Bertuzzi most likely a dud.
