Yeah, I heard it was Hasek's fault.
-
Good clean hockey fight. Mutual respect. Gotta love it!
-
And let me guess, Gaboriks head was down because he was deep in thought about how he was going to handle this break away of his. "Hmm" he thought, "gosh, if I go high and miss I could hit Hasek in the throat with the puck and possibly end his career. I guess that wouldn't be nice, so maybe I should shoot low. And I'd better not shoot it as hard as I can with all this speed built up cause those pads leave some open areas that could be suseptable to an 'owie', and that would'nt be very nice either..hey! what the heck is he doing way out heeeeeeeeeeeeeere" boink..."ow, my head. Hey Dom, that wasn't very nice!" Dom matter of factly replies "but you not score goal, we still have shut out, ha ha ha. Penalty? For vat? I rush and poke check puck and he crash into me. Looks more like a case of careless skating to me, MaGoo! Penalty, wa de fok Get head out you ass MaGoo...!" Edit: still working on Hasek's accent.

You can't "prove it". Its just an interpretation of an observation. I cant help but loose a little respect for your judgement if thats how you see things. I'm not a huge Hasek fan, he's great but very flakey. But I know when I've been in net before ,that I am going for the puck and if there is collateral damage, then so be it, because I have a responsibilty to keep the puck out of my goal to best of my abilities. If Zetterberg or Datsyuk had the puck and a goalie rushed them, they would have put a move on him and went right by him for an empty netter. More times than not, people are fine after flippoing like that, myself included. You guys are over sensitive worry warts and your kids are going to grow up to be Mama's Boys. Let the boys be boys for crying out loud.

I thought he stuck the landing pretty damn good. Or is the back of your mellon not considered "sticking" it? He sure got some air miles out of it!
-
Its the same on the west coast trips with Anaheim and LA or San Jose. One of those teams almost alwasy gets a team traveling thru California and playing games back to back.
-
With all due respect, you do sound like someone who's never experienced the intensity of the game first hand as a player. That is the type of move that an extreme competitor like Hasek would make (obviously) and he was going after the puck to nip that break away in the bud, and yes, I'm glad no one got hurt, but thats hockey. Love it or leave it. Its a million miles an hour and split decisions and reactions are what make and break games. Hasek is not going to slow down because he's up 5-0, he's full on till the whistle. Thats how you get a shut out. Extraordinarily competitve sense (not common). Hasek's got it and he's unreal.

Thats just good defense. Same thing happenned to me in a beer league, but two things, I had my head up and I wasn't going anywhere near the speed Gaborik was, of course. Result: I swore at the goalie because we all have day jobs. Thanks for both video posts.

Dude, sweet avater .

No doubt, Begin goes in close to tie him up with some "don't hurt me" hugs. Some of the girls that figure skate at our rink would have Zombonied the ice with him! Dandyass must have panicked that Koivu was in a fight (cancer survivor, and your skill guy, and your captain, and your European) and thought he'd score some points in the room or something, otherwise I don't know wtf he must have been thinking. Great game, Wings. So often they have dominated in the past, had a team on the ropes only to have the other team rally for two goals and win in a shootout or something. Tonite, they went in for the kill, never let the Habs get off, and the Wings finished the job. Sweet.
-
Remember the articles on how unhappy the room was in Ottawa, now wer'e seeing the fallout. Did you see Datsyuk accidently put his stick between the skates of a Hab and almost tripped him until Datsyuk put his hand on the guys shoulder to keep him from falling so he wouldn't get a tripping penalty. Quick thinking.

I'm watching here, scroll down to "versus" chanel. Way to go Kronner! http://pages.tvunetworks.com/downloads/download.html?id=rdb

AND whats even more impressive to me is the goal differential, a #1 in the NHL +25, thats ridiculous! Ottawa is #2 with a + 13 and Carolina is a +2 with 86 goals for, 84 against.

This is all you need t know when it comes to sports movies: 1. Slap Shot 2. The Longest Yard 3. The Bad News Bears (original ,of course) 4. Mystery, Alaska 5. We Are Marshall The openning scene in Mystery Alaska as the kid is skating the river. The openning line from the little kid as Russel Crowe's Bronco won't start. Some good skatin' and beautiful slapshots in that movie. And for a Kiwi, he skated half way decent.

Once again, Eva Unit Zero, my reply to your post is "BINGO!" The Hudlum is damn exciting to watch, you think he just might pop one in each time he touches the puck.

At the risk of divulging my own ignorance, and perhaps even a lifetime ban from LGW for asking, what exactly is the general definition of the instigator penalty? In all the years that everyones been bitchin' and complainin' about it, not once have I ever heard any one actually define it.
-
Eva Unit Zero said it all: injury-prone headcase. Bertuzzi never misses an opportunity to make you want to not like him. Listenning to Vancouver Team 1040 today, this is from one caller: "Hey, you guys were talking about that goal being 'Vintage Naslund', we'll what about the non-back check that lead to that goal being 'Vintage Betuzzi', eh!

Where can I get a Michigan helmet? Have never seen them offerred anywhere, and I'm not fast enough to go to the games and rip one off a players head. Any leads anyone?
-
Well, you're on pace to shoot yourself, then, because we both know that this forum is on pace to have at least 215 "on pace" threads by the end of the season. And thats an LGW record!

i don't own too many: Michigan-blue Red Wings Center Ice black practice that I wear in my beer league (we're the Black Aces) Boston Bruins Center Ice black practice jersey for my "alternate" Black Aces beer league jersey Red Wings Lidstrom replica red that I wore in spring beer league (we were the Wings) Yzerman Team Canada black Sharks green that somehow I still have just for sitting in a few games for Sharks in our beer league Chelios Blackhawks red with C replica Bought at gear swap for $15, love it! USA Hockey gray Pacific District Development Camp that I bought off some girl trying to raise money for her hockey travel. She is a goalie and I needed a big sweater for the few times I tend goal. Happens to be #19. Jersey I will get for Christmas: Red Wings new (rebok) black pracitce, with the white sides, probably one or two sizes smaller than normal to wear as mountain bike jersey. Jersey I bought my brother for a few Christmas's ago: Lowell Lockmonsters because the town is named after our ancesters. Jersey I want to buy my sister in-law who is from Hershey Pennsylvania for her 6 yr old boy: you guessed it; Hershey Bears. She used to babysit for a lot of coaches as they travelled etc. Wow, this thread is getting me in the Christmas spirit!

Its not like its a road trip across the country where you put it on cruise control at 65mph and say "we're on pace to see the Wings in the Shark Tank at 4pm Firday". Seasons have there ups and downs. First quarter he scores 10 goals, second quarter who knows? You never know until the game is over, otherwise they would just do the math and figuring on paper so no one would ever get hurt. Thats why you've got to play the game. Don't get me wrong, 10 goals at this point is awesome. Just remember people: Ebb and Flow. ebb and flow...
-
Wow, that is a good looking practice jersey. I have the old solid black for my beer league team. We're the Black Aces, me and my D partner had the all black with red Winged Wheel, sweet, and seriously we were like a plus 24 or something with a streak of 10 games without giving up a goal. Everyone called us the D-Wings. We're just trying to represent the 313 and 810 out west! I'm gonna have to get this new one for a mountain bike jersey.

While I can't cite any of the articles I've read or give any links, the gist of it is that the Russian program is not what it once was. The national teams have not been the force as they have been in the past, the juniors haven't fared well. I think there is so much going on politically in Russia that the hockey program has lost a step, and a few other countries have stepped up.

I'm sorry, i can't help it but i think thats funny. The more I read it, the more funny it gets. He's 13 for cryeeing out loud, not like a wee little 8 yr old. Its time he learns to make a stand (the Ducks Jersey) and deal with the consequences, not matter they be big or small. As a kid, my older brother was always a Viking fan wearing the purple jersey at the Silver Dome, no real probs, just fun banter back and forth with the Lions faithful. Yeah, the kid will be fine, but I agree: its you I'm worried about. After you get home from the game, call my phone and let it ring twice so i know you're ok, then hang up before the machine picks up.

If you were to say something about karma, I guess I could agree. But that could open the door for conjecture: when exactly did the concussion occur? On the intial hit, or after you, me, and everybody else piled on? I agree; some things are better left untyped. He does seem to be earning the nickname of "Frajeeley" these last few years, though.
