Yes, he does look very fast. And full of confidence. Exciting to watch.

    Oh, THATS a low blow.
  3. NEWSFLASH: Datsyuk flourishes at Zetterberg's expense! Pavel Datsyuk scored a goal himself tonite against the Blues and low and behold, Henrik Zetterberg's 17 game point streak came to an end. That selfish Bahstahd!

    11/13 GDT: Blues 3, Red Wings 2

I'm watching it online thru TVU Versus. Download this, then scroll to versus. http://www.tvunetworks.com/ I tried to mute the versus volume and listen to wxyt on NHL Listen Now, but the sync is way too far off. Just gotta listen to the versus guys call Dom Ozzie etc. A small price to pay to be able to work in my garage in Washington state and watch the Wings on the laptop.

There ya go! Wow if his luck aint changing with a shot like that!

    Sean Avery

Former Wings team up to score all the goals to beat Toronto. Shanahan from Avery, then Avery, then Shanahan in the shootout.

I honestly believe that God gave Stevie Y girls because it would be unfair to make another man try to follow in those footsteps.
  8. I couldn't watch the Wings/Preds last week so I caught the video highlights. It was interesting in the shootout that Radulov wasn't able to fool Osgood with the forehand deke, but then Zetterberg fooled Mason on the exact same move on the very next attempt. Not only did Z do a much better job of selling the move (and Mason bought it hook, line, and sinker!), but Osgood also showed great discipline and patience (and confidence) in stoning Radulov. Wings were better and more skilled on both sides of the puck. http://www.nhl.tv/team/console?hlg=20072008,2,216

    great illustration of talent difference

You are right. I see how my thread title could be misleading. Seems like most people got emotional from reading the bad title and my point was lost. BECAUSE it was Rudalov, I thought it was "interesting that in the shootout he didn't fool Osgood" and that particular deke was sub-par. People obviously responded emotional to the lame title instead of being curious and analytical by reading the body of the post, watching the video and saying "Hmm, his deke was sub-par, he looks worn out or something, and Ozzie did look great. Wow, Zetterberg's deke did have a lot more emphasis on it and Mason bought the farm on that one. Hmm... is it due to the long layoff so the Wings look fresh with their skills still sharp after OT and the Preds dead tired? Hmm The Wings did show more skill on both ends of the puck, there". I wasn't judgin the dude, just how half hearted that particular move was compared to Z's and the subsequent results, with video link so all could see the same thing (and enjoy some other highlights along the way). I realize thats a lot of extrapolation for most, and I apologize to all the ladies out there that have a crush on Rudalov. I vow to more carefully craft my threads from this point onward. Edit: typo
  10. Damn, I was hoping you could respond on my "Talent difference" thread, but I can see you have your hands full over here on your own thread.
  11. Use YOUR reading comprehension skills and change the title of this thread to "Zetterberg leaching off of Datsyuk?" 2007 LGW line of the Year nominee.

Nice vid. Had to mute the Rap, but the hockey moves were sweet. Thanks. Read my posts and you'll notice I wasn't talking about any of those goals, though. Wasn't talking about the broader view, never wrote the dude off, never said he had crappy skils. I said campared to Henrik Zetterberg, in that particular shootout, Z sold the moves a lot more than Rudalov did. Mason bit, and Ozzie didn't. Even gave a link to the video so you could analyze it yourself to see what I was talking about. Its not often you get to compare the exact same move from two dudes only seconds apart. Not sure why its a problem for everyone. You'd think I posted something nasty about Rudalov on his little sister's website or something.

And he'll do whatever he can to help the team win. Did ya see him tonite in front of the net screening on the power play?

    Sean Avery

And had 2 points in a 2 goal game. Hmm...

    Sean Avery

That how she ended up with an eating disorder.

    Sean Avery

Avery has more Gordie Howe Hatricks (3) than Gordie Himself. Last one was 2 goals, an assist, and a fight with Darcy Tucker (that little f*****). You'd think the Wings could find a spot for a guy like that.

    Bloodlines

I can't believe this thread has gone this far without the mention of the Russell family. Kurt played Herb Brooks in Miracle, and son Wyatt is goalie at Uof AHuntsville. http://www.al.com/sports/huntsvilletimes/i...&thispage=1

    great illustration of talent difference

I didn't think I was criticizing him, just pointing out how the video shows the skill level difference. Its kinda cool that you get to watch the same move back to back by two different players on two different goalies and get two different results. Its not a criticism to show a little less skill on a given shootout than Z. I guess he just didn't have sick talent on that particular play.
  20. So, you think the Russian may have a difficult time being a Red wing on the Red Wings...

    great illustration of talent difference

so it may have been that particular shootout attempt for him, or the fact that Ozzie is hot, or a combination of both (realizing, of course that one is not going to look great on every single shootout attempt). I did think the video showed that his range of motion and point of emphasis during his deke was far less than Z's.
  22. This is awesome. 13 wins in 16 games, playing brilliant hockey, yet Red Wings fans are passionately muckin' it up in the corners fightin for points. I love it. Keep up the good work boys. Let's Go Red Wings! (My ass if it ain't Hockeytown! )

11/9 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blue Jackets 1

I agree. Its not a goalie controversy, its a goalie blessing! We are well endowed in the crease!
  24. Stats are fun but don't tell the whole story, obviously. They are always open to interpretation. That being said. the fact that Z has taken 90 shots and Dats has taken 56 supports my theory of Dats doing the set up and drawing the crowd to give Z the open space to close the deal. On the other hand, there are stats that support your theory as well. Shot %: Z is at 14.6%, Dats is at 3.6%. But I have to say that I think Datsyuk's perventage is low mostly due to the fact that he's got everyone else's sweaters draped all over him when he's trying to play.

    Last weeks layoff observations

First off, let me thank the GDT's and its participants. Its great for me to be able to to read all the commentary about the game when I can't get to see or hear it for one reason or another out here in Washington state. Thanks to all. Secondly, I rarely get to see the games. It was fun last week reading all the thought on the possible effects of the long layoff. Well obviously the Wings picked up where they left off with the wins, but what about the play of the game and the rythym and individuals timing etc. Anyone who saw the games have any observations now that we have the luxury of hindsight to answer last weeks questions? How did they look, and why do think they looked that way.
