Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

Wait wait wait, that jostles my memory. He did say Poilliot but would need some sort of piece coming back. The writer commented that last time he upped the ante and requested a piece in return, it ended up being Pascal Depres.

Agreed, which is why Kesler is so important.

Looks great compared to a lot of contracts Gilly has signed in recent years.

I don't see it that way at all. With Kesler, they are even bigger contenders every year for the next 5-7 -8 yrs. they're in the middle of a era right now, they've got to capitalize on. It, just like we should be capitalizing on the Datsyuk Zetterberg era instead of putting them with Bert and Abby.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

Discussion between Vancouvers Team 1040 and a Penguins beat reporter said Sheros offer is Sutter, a prospect, and both a 1 and a 3 rd pick. He said to sweeten the deal, they'd give up Poulliot. He say Shero has always loved Kesler, and says Shero wants to be kept abreast of all negotiations with other teams so he can best all offers. Writer also said Kesler really liked his Olympic experience with Bylsma and Granato . I would definetly go Weiss, one of Sproul, Oullet, or Jensen , and next years 1 and 3. After watching the Griffins again this weekend, I'd really rather not move Almquist.

AND, then he'll still have vets coming off contracts and a rising cap to be able to add another big name this summer.

No worries and certainly not offended, and thanks. Mainly, it s too big of a tangent for this thread, and the rest, well, also not for this thread. Back to trade talk...

Kind of unfortunate, indeed. And likewise, if I were his employer I would have had a few choice words for him when he wet the bed against Chicago, and then again numerous times in Boston. He is definitely a contributor to his own current predicament. And his play of late is why he sat the Heritage.

Living in the Canuck market, I've actually heard him say as much on occasion via radio sound bites and interviews . We also hear about how impossible it's been to move his contract, even though teams would really like to have him.

Believe it or not, sports is even less to some.In the big picture, he's still living a fantasy life, one which the rest of us could only dream about. He realizes how fortunate he is, which is why he has been relatively cool about the whole thing.

He is easy to trade, but his contract is not. And I wouldn't mind living his "tortured" life.

    Naming the New Arena

Well, a better ring to it than , "Dan Cleary, starting at forward tonight", anyway. :-)

    Naming the New Arena

Actually, similar to kip wingers suggestion, simply name it "Hockeytown". Not Hockeytown Arena or even Hockeytown Place, rather just Hockeytown.

I've read they want to expand the adjoining Cobo Hall event center.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

Per Vancouver sportswriter Jason Botchford: "The Canucks cant trade Kesler without getting a centre in return. They just dont have enough depth at the position." That's why it makes so much sense that Weiss be a major part of that package. No matter how disappointing he may have been so far, he was a solid 1C and a captain and would be a solid 2c. Andersen gives them a 3c they desperately need as well, and helps to balance contract numbers. I'm good adding Pulkkinen or Jarnkrok, and an early pick. http://www.theprovince.com/sports/Botchford+Kiss+Kesler+goodbye/9555934/story.html There is another article that I cannot find that states why Gillis cannot afford to overvalue Kesler in this trade, but I can't find it. Weiss is light years ahead of anything Sutter has to offer.

This. The opportunities to land a player of his caliber in a trade these days is very rare. He's a quirky dude, no doubt, but he can instantly make the Wings a major contender.

That's it, dude, we are SO done! I'm not a big emoticon guy, but there are so many pricks on this forum I am compelled to make double sure people know when I'm joking. :-)

Yes, he scores like wildfire on Sedins wing, which is why I've been saying put him on Pavels line
