    2/17 GDT : Red Wings 2 at Wild 3

Cleary, Fil, Sammy had 2 shots between them, with Sammy scoring one Wild logo that counts for...uh...nothing. That line didn't show up on paper, or on my TV. That is the Notta Line. It wasn't a line, it was a lame. NyQ, Andrson, and Tatar was a much more effective line the other nite and should be the 2nd line right now. Or maybe Filp with Nyq and Tatar. Maltbykader needs to stay in the bottom six.

Nyquist and Sammy both should be in. Sammy can be quite good when he has something to prove. NyQ reassigned really makes me shake my head and wonder. NyQ and the Griff line were flying last game. The Griff power play was moving the puck like lightning and the Wings power play looked slow and lame in comparison. Babs and all his "it's up to them if they want to play or not (depending on what they show on ice)" is starting to lose credibility with me. Here's to hoping for a good exciting win today.

    For some good news....

As crappy as Vancouver is playing, (and without Kessler) they're bumbling through that stupid division at like 8-2-2 and the Sedins aren't even going yet..

State of Hockey; High school drama

Just elaborating on my point on a discussion board. You don't need to be condescending and tell me to move along, like you tell Playmaker you hate his attitude. If we were at a pub discussing it over beers you wouldn't talk that way to my face, so why be rude on LGW?

State of Hockey; High school drama

Blind and arrogance has nothing to do with it. A lot of people have committed a lot of time, energy, and of course $, to compete on that hockey team and he sabbotaged and betrayed them. No it's not the end of the world, but that doesn't make it any less wrong. It's one thiing to have a vendetta against a coach, but it's absolutely wrong to betray the entire team. If he has a beef with a coach, man up and talk to the coach, or sucker punch the coach in the back of the head or slice his tires, or whatever cowardly way he wants to do it, but nothing justifys screwing your teammates and their parents in a game like that. Hopefully the kid will regret this, and be very embarrassed about doing it, and will learn to deal with authority in a more constructive way. Otherwise, this will not be the last we hear of him. Ok, Ok, if you were waiting to hear that the entire team locked him in his locker everyday and pee'd on him, then maybe I can see your point...but 99.99% of the time it's only one douchebag, not an entire team of douchebags.

State of Hockey; High school drama

Wrong. There is absolutely no place in hockey for a move like that. No place in team sport of any kind. No justification whatsoever. Nobody needs to know the story, because none of them end like that except the "He's a ******* idiot" story. If you don't agree with what is going on, or if you feel you have been wronged, let them know why you will not be suiting up.

    The Dynasty

This will make a great premise for a Red Wings book.

Will look great when prospective future employers find it on his social media background checks. If you want to get back at your coach, leave a steamy dukkie under the seat of his car or somethiing, don't screw the entire team.

    IF Everyone gets healthy...

The more I look at it, the more I laugh. Nice one, Zomdog. I just hope it doesn't mean we're relegated to mediocracy. My only question is does Babdog think Newfdog is here to stay, or is the clock ticking for him to be replaced by Tatdog? I know everyone here at Letsgodogs is getting tired of Newfdog....

    Patrick Marleau

I agree. While I do have a certain amount of respect for Thornton and Marleau's repsective games, a scoreless Zetterberg game usually has more impact than a scoreless Marleau or Thornton game.

    IF Everyone gets healthy...

As a nickname, Emdog is about as creative as a barbed wire tattoo around the upper arm. Sounds more lke a low budget DJ or off lable rapper. You're destined for mediocracy and a career full of forgettability with a nickname like that.

Tomas Tatar Is Jiri Hudler 2.0

IT's hard to predict the future. Living across the border from Vancouver for the last 15 years, I've watched the same scenario unfold on the Canucks With Bertuzzi, Morrison, and Naslund as the awesome league leading top line, and the Sedins in a great second line situation, NOBODY (but Burke) thought the Sedins would ever be able to carry the mail as the top line, then low and behold, they take the league by storm and win back to back Hart's and take the team to the Gm 7 Cup Finals. We thought we were done without Stevie Y and Feds, but then Datsuk and Zetterberg became league leaders and we won in '08. As posted above, we've lost all our previous competitive advantages. Long ago we got high picks and took Yzerman. Were the first to scout and bring in talent from Russia , then Sweden, etc. Were the first to play Russian style puck possession hocky. Could easily out bid for free agents. Now, the salary cap and the natural business cycle have taken those advantages away. (Many teams are copying the Detroit method, with higher picks and the same salary) Not to menton the unthinkable: Mike Illitch himself is not getting any younger. It does appear that as Datsyuk and Zetterberg age, there really is a lack of hopefuls to pass the torch to...all we can do is watch and hope that the guys in the pipeline are able to step up and fulfill their roles as Red Wings and earn a place in history.

    Patrick Marleau

Just sayin, the thread says Marleau's "hot", not the "best", and that kid is hotter than hot right now...Zetterberg's gone 5 games already without a goal, since you brought it up. Here are some more fun facts while we're at it: Joe Thornton is on a bagel run just like Marleau: 0 0 0 in the last 5 gms. And Dan Cleary has more goals than Henrik Sedin. Keep it up, Danny boy!
  14. It seemed to work out ok when we were unable to draft hometown boy Pat Lafontaine...

Toots hasn't had much opportunity but he's finishing his checks hard and while I wouldn't say he's wreaking havoc in front of the net, atleast he's got a bit of a presence there. Mrazek is quick as a cat. Goes down and is up into position super quick like he's Jet Li or something.

I honestly think they relax and slow down too much on the PP. They try to be too patient, too cerebral. They end up "waiting" for a good shot instead of moviing the puck and moving without the puck to "create" a good shot and open rebounders. WIngs old PP was super fast puck movement.

Kindle is really fighting the puck tonite. Can't catch a pass, can't stick handle, sombody's got to message his stick blade and soften it up a bit.

2 shifts in a row Clears had jump, purpose, and a shot on goal. Tatar moves really well without the puck. Seems to get away from defenders into the open areas, and not just any open areas, the open shooting lanes. Wouldn't suprise me to see that line with a 2nd goal tonite.

Tatar moves with purpose. Simple, basic, but effective hockey.
