Like this? Well this hit may have been more lateral than not, but it wasn't blindside and I would argue not late either. I'm focussing more on "Huskin's, WTF were you thinking he was going to do when he came skating across the ice like that? Do you not know when he is on the ice and what he is capable of?"
-
I've really liked Dan Cleary, but m God he gets kocked off the puck now like never before. Vs Columbus somebody sent him flying through the air. It's got to be a leg/knee issue. If this is the case, playing him is not doing anybody any good except our opponents. You're exactly right; sit him and bring someone else up to get experience and most likely be as effective or more.

Ohhhh, I ate too much.

Mickey hasn't said a word for a few minutes; he's disgusted.
-
I'd have to think it's a shoulder from the look of that hit angle.
-
not a big dea that Dats gets taken down, but at the risk of divulging my own ignorance, how is it not interference when they kep knockng him and keeping hm down? I know I do it all the time, but I'm always suprised I never get called.
-
Well said. He may very well do a decent, safe, job out there, it's just that I haven't noticed opponents noticing him.
-
Thanks for the replies, guys. Looks like no one's talking about him now because for whatever reason, it's water under the (Ambassador) bridge, long gone, too bad, a little sad, I'll move on. I'm proud to be from Michigan, so I tend to like it when the Wings can get local boys on the team...and I played against the Livonia schools in high school. (beat Stevenson to win the last year of the Inter-Lakes League Basketball championship waaaay back in the early '80's. )

I'm ok with that! (Your hike that is ) Yeah, I could probably get there faster, including my border crossing. We could do the whole night for less than parking at a Canucks game, and IMO, more enjoyable. Go Wings.

I must be the only one who liked what I saw from Chris Conner when he was here. He had more jump, had better speed, through more hits, and was more effective on the ice than Emmerton, Mursak, and any of the other guys rotated up for a few games. The guy was flying. As much as I like Clears, Conner was more effective. If Abby isn't going to score once in a while on Helm's wing, then I think a fourth line of Conner-Abby-Toots could be really effective. Other than him getting injured, what am I missing?

GDT 2/1 GDT : Blues 3 at Red Wings 5 (Z with Hat Trick)

Too bad Colaiacovo couldn't take part in the win. -
Hey Neighbor, lets get a bunch of us Vancouver area Wings fans together and go see the Griffins when they come to Abbotsford! (But that's another thread...)
-
Thanks for doing the GDT for us. You do excellent work. It's a hoot to be able to come here and get that pertinent info for each game, especially in such asthetic fashion. It truely is part of my great game day experience. As Lids was a worhy successor to Yzerman for the Captaincy, and Z after him, you, sir, have done Aflac proud. GO Wings! Keep the momentum rollin. Way to Represent!

I agree. However, I do think it would be more effective for Toots to just grin at the guy on the openning face off and make the guy wonder during the entire game when the fight was gonna come down. Like Vladdy said, "Get him thinking about me instead of the game". That's more my style,...but Toots is the one that made it to that NHL, not T.Low.

This is a long time favorite of mine, by, appropriately, Toots and the Maytals. With the crowd at the Joe singing the chorus parts, there's a lot a DJ at the Joe could do with this tune aft a Tootoo fight or goal. "Give it to me one time...UGH!, GIve it to me two time...UGH, UGH" The fourth line just needs to be called Toots and the Maytals. I remember Jordin and his brother Terrence from their yonger days, when Jordin played for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL. The Canadian news would do a segment on them , being the best hockey players to ever come out of Nunavat, and representing the small Inuit community. Together, they had hopes of someday being the first from Nunavat to play in the National Hockey League. (The Winetka brothers in "Mystery Alaska" were suppossed to be Inuit). I remember being heart broken when Terrence committed suicide; I can only imagine how Toots must feel, living the dream that both of them had, they were so very close. Go, Toots, Go.

And, e-frikin-ventually, Mule will start carrying some mail. I really like Cleary, but of course got to wonder if he will ever regain his effectiveness and subsequent scoring touch. I, for one, am glad that Babcock is giving him the opportunity to get his hockey together. -

I don't think so. He hit him right in the solar plexes which is why Huskin caved like that. It's getting harder to take this league serious with calls like that and many of the other wtf calls tonite. I guess I'd rather be a bit sheepish by winning on phantom call like that as oppossed to getting that same call and not capitalizing on it and then losing the game. What can you do but win it. -

I think they called it on purpose thinking the Wings would never score on their Power Play, giving St Louis a better chance to win. -
NO, please, no! Just stand up and cheer everytime and rock the house!
-
My observation exactly. He got rocked by those upper cuts and I thought he was down and out, but then I was amazed at how he shook it off in an instant and picked up the pace again, inflicting a lot of damage after that point. I thought the team was inspired more to seeing that there is no quit in Toots rather than to wether he won or lost. Sugar Ray used to call it being in "The Dark Closet" when a guy gets rocked like that, and how most guys can never fight there way back out of the Dark Closet. I think Toots saw the lights flickering, and kicked it into high gear instead of letting himself get shut down. That's an amazing thing to witness. No Quit in Toots, that's for damn sure.

Lots of good analysis in the thread. I was wrong about not wanting Toots in Red. I can't wait for him to score his first goal and watch the Joe ERUPT! At my house, it only took a couple of games to coin the phrase "True Grit Toots.; He'll get on it Tootsuite". I think we'll squeek into the layoffs 6 or 8th seed. Then it really needs to be a team effort, with the D maturing in a hurry. I don't expect us to win it all, but with Dats and Z, anything is possible.

Sorry that my humor was too harsh for you. It may not have been the clearest attempt at humor, but I certainly didn't think it would draw that kind of reaction. All I meant was that this is the exact thread that used to pop up all the time when we were playing awesome hockey and had no worries. Kinda like Seinfeld and Constanza argueing about which Super Hero was the greatest. You gotta admitt that while they just had a geat game against a tired vanilla team like Dallas, they still have a lof of issues, yet here we are arguing about who's better, D or Z, which is the absolute smallest of concerns we could possibly have. They're both awesome ! I didn't realize my posts were seen as negative. I'll do my best to ignore you from now on since that's what you want. Cheers.

Yesterday, against the Stars was really the only good game so far. It was classic Detroit hockey. The Minny game had glimpses of good play during the 2nd and 3rd periods. The rest were kinda painful and laborius to watch. I don't mnd the ridiculous comments as long as I get to comment back.

We look great and win for one game and we're already back to lying in the snow, making snow angles, looking up at the sky, and asking the unanswerable question, 'Gee, Wally, who do you think is better; Datsyuk or Zetterberg?" and taking a bite of snow while we happily mull over it as if that is the biggest problem in Red Wings Land...
