Are Chicago fans not as bad as we thought?

No comments about the first paragraph or the second? Just that they're douchebags? Edit: I guess I'm all alone here, but I thought the guy's post was spot on.

Please, for the love of God

So, the Blues are the best team in the NHL. So anything short of a Presidents Trophy and Stanley Cup is a major disappointment and a lost season. No pressure: Good luck with that. Personally, I like the fact that the raggedy ass franchise is finally having a season worth beating them in.

What do you guys have to say about Filpulla now?

The dude may be a bit of a bad spelling, short fused, grumpy assed beeyatch, but he brings up all good points. Frikin Teemu Selanne has been gushing over what an extraordinary talent Filp is and how hard he plays, but LGW complains about the guy all the time. And people forget that Franzen was drafted as a checker and blossomed into the Mule that carries the load when it matters most, at a bagain of a price. Cleary's playing his heart out on one peg, but there are posts saying he's lazy and he sucks and we should trade the guy. Yeah, the f***in guy that dropped the gloves with Pronger and held his own. The game 7 guy. Get rid of the guy It does seem like a lot of LGW fans can't understand why the Wings can't score at will, like they don't realize there is an actual opposing team (with all higher draft picks) out there trying to win the game also. And instead of debating the meat of the issue, replies tend to nick pick the little things like one too many L's and too few P's in Filppula, when frikin Bab's can't even pronounce it correctly (Filapula) But still, for us out-of-towners, it seems the best place to go for all things Wings. Long Live LGW. Go Wings.
  4. Wow, i'm impressed. A girls high school hockey team in Mass. Not rep, or even house, but high school. That's impressive. Oh, and shame on the dad. What a crap role model for the kiddo.

    Yeah, that's f***in hilarious. You're an idiot.

    Patrick Sharp

Hmm,interestng: Sharp drafted 95th overall; Franzen drafted 97th.

    Dearborn councilman assaulted outside JLA

I assume you're kidding, but i won't wear Wings gear when I go to see them in Vancouver. As a matter of fact, when i got my new truck, I purposefully left the Wings decal off that I usually fly, because I cross the border into BC a lot and there are too many idiots up there and I don't need the hassle.

Not sure what you mean by lighten up. An innocent man got beaten, and his wife and young daughter had to see, no less. WTF is wrong with people.

    Brad Stuart's family issues

It's not a personal attack, nor is it an inference about your personal life, it's merely an observation of who you speak like. It was one sentence and I was pretty concise. If my own mother had posted your posts, I would have called her on it by giving her the same reply I gave you. Your posts in this thread are not consistant with an adult who has experienced the heart wrenching dilema of having to choose between family and career. Wether you acutualy have or not, your posts certainly do not indicate that you have, or have learned anything by it. Simple as that, as it's pretty insensitive to both Stuart's and Lidstrom's respective situations. They each have a family first, and a team second. Many of the players who place their teams over family someday end up with neither. Here's to thanking Lids and Stuart for their respective time as Detroit Red Wings, and wishing them well in the future. And I wish you well, now, and in the future also.

    Standings sans Loser Point

Glad John Hancock didn't share your philosophy. I'd actually like to take it a step further. The game is 60 minutes for 2pts. Now, if it can't be won in the regulation 60 monutes, the value of the game goes down to 1pt. If it takes you OT or a shootout to win the game, you only get 1 pt and the loser gets 0.

    Brad Stuart's family issues

I agree but want to add that the law of diminishing returns eventually applies to money, also. Lidstrom is one of the top money earners all time in the NHL with something like $97m earned over his career. I'm sure he has managed his money better than Scott Storch. At this point in his life, time is now more important than money, and probably has been for a few years now. Lets face it: Years ago he had already accomplished everything he could ever dream about accomplishing as a Detroit Red Wing. We are fortunate to still have him.

    3/2 GDT : Wild 0 at Red Wings 6

I realize the lights are about to finally get turned out on this thread but I thought i'd try here first: I can't find a video of the Wings shift where they spent 1:14 in the Minni zone and then scored. Yes, I searched, but my GoogleFu sucks and I haven't found it. I guess I wouldn't be suprised if it's not up anywhere yet, and it would take up the enitre NHL highlight video of that game so I'm not faulting NHL.com. I want to post it in a hockey thread on another forum I'm on. Anyone seen a video with a link? Thanks either way.
  17. Question: IF Winnipeg and Florida make the playoffs this season, (and yes, that's a huge IF) how many teams will have made the playoffs since the lockout? Answer: 30 teams will have made the playoffs post lockout. Question II(For extra credit since I gave the you the first answer): In that case, what team(s) will not have made the playoffs since the lockout?
  18. Tough crowd. Just trying to have some trivia fun on a day with no game. You know, 30 teams (29 franchises) will have made the playoffs if the Jets and Panthers make it this season, and the Leafs haven't ha ha, you know, and then maybe that could spawn some discussion how Bettman's dream has come true of every frikin team making the playoffs yadda yadda yadda, but alas, my idea and/or presentation is just not that interesting. Sorry about the typo in the title, I'll think twice about posting in the future. Enjoy the game tonight. edit: more typos; I'm a crappy typist.
  19. ? Yes, the Atlanta Thashers team has made it in. The big IF is in regards to both the Panthers and the Jets making it into the playoffs this season. And, yes, good for the Thrashers (except for the "swept out of the first round" part). So close. Yes, of course, on the Maple Leafs, but technically, no , as a matter of fact, on your 2nd part. Alex Trebek would not allow it. Anyone else?

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

I agree but I'm thinkin there had to be something more to this. It does seem that Hodgson has had a little bit of a rocky relationship with the organisation. He kept hurting his back and it seemed they got impatient with him. But this year he is surely a Calder finalist and has a very bright future, so I agree with you. I think they shuoldhave taken the time to teach him to back check and play D instead of trading him for.

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

Tony Gallagher and Vancouver's Team 1040 are unimpressed with the Pahlsson trade. With Cody Hodgson Vancouver had three centers that were good scorers. They already had Malhotra and their first impression of Pahlsson is that he is certainly a shut down guy; he shuts down any offensive potential his line ever had! They are worried that there will no scoring what so ever from the 3rd and 4th line. They are really worried about St Louis, but are hoping their goal tending will wither in the playoffs. Said they played the Bruins *** for tat in a slugfest.

    Johan Franzen Depreciation

The fact that the Wings didn't bother going after Hossa because the committment was to Franzen and Hudler, while letting Sammy and Hossa walk. IF Holland had known that little fahker was going to Russia, he could have entertained the idea of keeping Hossa. I like Hossa too and wish we could have kept him somehow. But lets not forget that Franzen was drafted as a checker, and only after the Canucks took Alex Edler before the Wings could. And he is currently tied with Hossa at 24 goals, while Hossa has 10 more assists becasue he plays with actual goal scorers, which Datsyuk and Zetterberg are surely not.

    Jiri Hudler Watch Thread

He is way too small to be that slow. How, in the name of God, could that ever happen to anyone. Please, although it would be so easy that it would be tempting, please, nobody make a highlight video of all the times guys have blown right by Hudler and scored a goal.
