Make that a 23-33 goal scorer.

I think about it too, I really like Marion Hoss. But I harken back to that interview with Hossa where he said his hands got so tight with nervs when he went back to Pittsburgh with us in the Cup Finals. Franzen, on the other hand as we all know, carries the mail in the playoffs for this town. You simply cannot get rid of a player who has a playoff history like Johan Franzen.

We're lucky he didn't get carried off on a strecther, he didn't have any response to those last three hammers he took to the face. One more could have done him in, that almost got scary.

I thought Filp was going to be on the list. He plays a much nicer game than Shane Doan(t).

new member here, question about Wings in St. Louis
T.Low replied to turbowhistle86's topic in General
Sorry on the hotel, I don't know either. But I will encourage you to get to the game an hour or so early to watch the Wings warm up skate. It is a thing of beauty. No matter where your seats are, for the warm up skate get directly behind the net about 6 rows up. Nothin else like it. Good luck. And you are a great son, gettingyour old man a gift like that. -
Yes se are competing with Vancouver. They have Suter dreams, Weber dreams, all the same dreams we have. Except they actually circled the Red Wing game on the calender weeks ago, hoping Detroit would continue the streak so they could break it. Now I've got to listen to Vancouver commercials on the radio "We love it when we beat Detroit: C'mon down and buy a new car!".

What is their reason for shopping Brown? They just picked up Carter for a run...so if he is worth anything, why are they shopping him?

I do too, but...I still have the same bipolar issue I had at the beginning of the season: Sometimes I look at our roster and think, "Holy Crap, we have no scorers on this team!"; Other times I look at the same roster and think, "Holy Jumpin, any one of these guys can go off at any time!". I'd like to see them at their best in playoffs and let the chips fall where they may. Well, I guess I really don't want to see them lose to San Jose,...or Vancouver,...ok, or Chicago. Awh f***, I've never been so stressed about this team before.

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

Thanks to you both, that explains it well enough. -
I like this signing. I think the raise is due to the fact that he has worked out better than anyone first thought. He would get more now on the open market because of showcasing himself in Detroit for the last two years. While Nyquist and Tatar need some ice time, they are 5'10 185. Bertuzzi is 6'3", 220, has awesome hands, is an excellent passer, has leanred to play D and Babcock says he is now a great shut down guy, and he has ragdolled Dion Phanueff, Shane Patatos OBrien, and many others. When Maxim Lapierre is runnin around taking indecent liberties with Red WIngs players, is Nyquist going to skate right up to Vancouver's bench and tell him to cool his f***in jets? No, but Bert has that sort of respect from every team in the league, and nobody wants to tangle with him. They know that f*****'s dangerously strong. He's got a great edge to his game. Pavs, Franzen, and Bert is an awesome line. How many guys can pass and make plays like him, win shootouts like him, and protect teammates like him? He may be half the beast he used to be, but he is still a very effective player, and still a HUGE presence that teams need to decide what to do with.

I happen to run into Mike and Marion Illitch at the Fox Theatre and I told them all about this post and about how much more hockey savy you have than Kenny Holland, Jim Nil, and Mike Babcock. Dude, they so want to hook up with you. They will be at the Little Ceasers at 7447 Gratiot Ave tomorrow morning and want to take you to the Machus Red Fox for brunch to talk about your ideas.

Of course we can get by San Jose if we come to play, but we'd be runnin on fumes and beat to s***.

Yeah, he's got to be Blue going from LA to the Buckeye state. Double ouch for him. I would have to go out and buy a new Ferrari just to have something to smile about. (Can you get a blue Ferrari?) -

Since we don't have him, that would mean Holland has already failed in that regard. Just sayin... I thought Jack Johnson was supposed to be the phashizzle. Why does he keep getting traded? -
I hear ya, neighbor. I don't need Pratt and Taylor busting my balls. Go Wings!

Quincy is to add insurance so we're not starting completely from scratch if we lose Lids and Suart this summer. Numerous articles have mentioned Stuart is leaning toward heading west. Edit: FWIW • Sports Illustrated: ...according to people with knowledge of the team's future plans (if the following guys are on the open market July 1), Plan A this summer will be to sign Zach Parise as a free agent. Plan B is sign Ryan Suter. Maybe both plans will come to fruition. Be afraid of the Detroit Red Wings."

You guys say that as if he is missing a huge gaping net; He is sniping the 2 hole or the 3 hole and sometimes he misses inside and hits the goalie in the shoulder (to which we have to listen to "Great Save, Loungo!") other times he misses wide which of course means he misses the net completely. It's not like he can't hit the broad side of a barn.

Point taken, but actually they do. Way back in the day, my knee/ankle doctor was also Kirk Gibson's guy. But yes, we most likely do not have access to the same trainers and rehab technology they do. Arthroscopic (sp?) surgery is just a small incision, then they put a small camera in there to look around for any damage. If there is no (or minimal) damge, recovery can be really fast. The streak is fun, but i don't want it to wear the guys out before the playofffs. Especially with Dats out, Z will put the extra load on himself.
-
Sure, you hate to see the guy lose his job midseason and possibly blow a shot at the Cup, but he's repportedly made over $5m throughout his hockey career. Any way you look at it, that's an awesome life to have lead. 5 milllllllion dollars! Damn.

I was going to post a picture of a few of us sitting in a grass hut in Mexico watching the Wings in Round One on a big flatscreen a few years ago...but it's on my other computer and not in my photobucket account. But you get the point. Now that I think about it, I go on a trip every spring and the WIngs are in the playoffs evey spring. I always manage to see them. Where are you going that you can't see them? This is perhaps one of the most remote areas in the lower 48, Owhyee River Canyon, and we found a tiny little gas station restaruant motel campground place with a tv and the game on. I've got to get satelite in my 4x4 camper van.

The quality of the video is amazing. I like spending time at that vantage point also. The other day, I don't remember which internet feed I was watching but the vantage point was taken from the corner boards during the power play and it was awesome to see the Wings move the puck from that view. Thanks for posting it.

No Doubt! Z checked over his shoulder a loooong time before ever getting to the puck and passing it, yet it was perfectly placed for a streaking Datsyuk. Lidstrom's pass to the boards worked really well and spreading out the D, so that by the time Pavs finally got the puck the middle wasn't all clogged up. Props to Babcock for knowing we needed the old D & Z magic tonite. Then i got to listen to Vancouver's Team 1040 sports guy talk about how awesome pavel's goal was, to totally deke Suter and Rinne for a last second game winner. he goes, "I mean it was Suter and Rinne for crying out loud!" Pavel is so fluid with his dekes, he really can committ way deeper into a deke than anyone I've ever seen before. We all really need to start sending Christmas cards to Haken Andersson every year.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/02/red_wings_teammates_surprise_t.html Most of you probably know that the Wings suprised Holmer with a Ski Doo at practice in recognition of his 1,000 th game. During the game they showed the clip that included Z riding it out of the Zamboni tunnel onto the ice. I can't find the clip anywhere. Anybody with better GoogleFu than I have it? I'd imagine it's the kind of thing somebody got a full video off, but i'll settle for the short clip shown during the game. Thanks.

Where is video of Z riding Holmer's snowmobile in The Joe?
T.Low replied to T.Low's topic in General
Thanks a ton, that 2nd vid is the one I was looking for. Appreciate it very much! Congrats again to Holma. As everyone here knows, he was drafted 10th round, 257 overall. The Wings let Håkan Andersson make the actual draft pick in appreciation of his work, and he selected Tomas Holmstrom. When he first arrived, Bowman asked him why he chose #96 and he said "Because thats the year I enterred the league", to which Bowman replied "Well why don't you get #98 for the year you're out of the league?" 1,000 games and 4 Stanley Cups later, congrats Holma, it's been great.
